I can't say enough good things about the staff and program at SWS. The school itself is Spanish immersion. This means NO English. Our pre-k kiddo is fluent in Spanish and even has a slight accent! Every teacher we have encountered is loving and provides a great balance of an educator and someone looking after them while they are on campus. The administration is also great. That is not to say they do not have their fair share of challenges or issues but they always work through it and do their best to make it right. As parents and customers of the school, we have to be understanding that during the pandemic everyone is doing their best and there will be things that get missed. The key is the safety and security of our kids during the day and that cannot be beat with SWS. I highly recommend them if you are looking for an immersion program in the Dallas area. During Covid, the schools took on the responsibility of ensuring all safety protocols were followed that were outlined by the state. But beyond that, they took it upon themselves to involve the parents and get a committee going to enhance the state protocols. Doctors, virologists, etc. formed that board and provided guidelines for the school as well as administration of weekly testing for the staff. We just restarted our kiddos back this past January and could not be happier. We are not allowed in the school but Drop-off and pickup are handled so well that I often times arrive and just based on knowing my car, our kids are sent down for pickup.

Everything you need to know about the school: the school has ongoing difficulties hiring qualified…read moreteachers, which is a critical concern. The math teacher and the IB coordinator resigned last March, and as of December, no permanent replacements have been appointed. The teacher currently covering these responsibilities reportedly has no prior IB experience. Assigning teachers without confirmed IB background to senior-level classes raises serious concerns about the quality and continuity of instruction. The chemistry teacher taught online for half a year because the school was unable to secure a visa. Another teacher was hired in the middle of the year; however, the school has not provided any information regarding her IB experience or certification. This lack of transparency makes it difficult for parents to assess whether IB standards are being met. The school's salary and benefits package appears to be uncompetitive within the local market, which may explain the hiring challenges. At the same time, the school continues to allocate funds to cosmetic updates such as repainting facilities and redesigning the website through third-party contractors. This raises reasonable questions about budget priorities. Overall, student academic outcomes do not appear to be the school's primary focus. Additionally, it is publicly known that the director's wife works in UX design; beyond this, the rationale for the recent urgency to redesign the school's website remains unclear.

Imagine a place where AP courses and IB (International Baccalaureate) or FB (French Baccalaureate) diplomas are not mutually exclusive and, 1370 SAT and 30 ACT scores are the average. These wounds are often not treated properly, and there have been multiple times where no incident report was filed -- and neither my husband nor I were informed by staff. The assistant director, Vanessa Ortiz, has extremely poor communication skills. It often takes more than a full school day to get a response to emails about serious issues like injuries. When we've tried to address concerns in person, we're met with excuses, not answers -- and certainly no sense of urgency. Also, if you have an issue and ask for the teacher's names (since we don't know their names due to so much turn over), don't expect to get them without the director reaching higher above her and then telling you to reach out to the area or regional director :) Shockingly, some teachers have even stepped in during conversations with other staff and *yelled* at us while trying to defend one another. The stories we're told rarely add up, and it feels like there's a serious lack of transparency and accountability. Supervision in the classrooms is clearly lacking, and poor communication seems to be used as a cover-up rather than a fix. There has also been an alarming amount of turnover among staff and students in just the last two months alone. That said, I want to give a huge shoutout to Mrs. Margie, Mrs. Wanda, and Ms. Jasmine. These amazing ladies are the only reason we're waiting until summer to pull our son. We truly appreciate the love and care you show our baby -- thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My son has learned so much and has grown so much at the school. When he started, he was very sad and hated to leave us, but after about a week he was happy to go to school, hugged the teachers, and didn't want to leave. The administration is also awesome! Unfortunately, we moved back to Virginia. We wish we could have brought the school with us. It is definitely our favorite thing about Dallas.

Looking back on our experience, there is absolutely no question in my mind that the 2+ years we spent with St. Christopher's were the best for not only our boys (now 5- & 6-years old), but our whole family. From the smart, personable, and observant teachers, to the diverse (international!) feel of the community, to the bright & welcoming atmosphere created by Becky and the front desk staff, St. Christopher's truly raised the bar for our expectations of a school & faculty. Prior to finding St. Christopher's, our boys had attended both Montessori and non-Montessori schools in the White Rock Lake/Lake Highlands areas, and they've attended 3 other schools (1 Montessori, 1 public, and 1 private) in Dallas & Rowlett since. Being a part of so many different schools (not all of which were bad, by the way!) has taught us to appreciate the "small" things (hygiene!, front desk friendliness, student diversity, parental involvement) as well as the "big" things (safety/security, curriculum, communication, caring & nurturing atmosphere). St. Christopher's gave us all of those things and then some. As parents, we always felt welcome, and we rested assured knowing that our children were being exposed to cool neat things (languages, art, etc.) and ideas by people who cared about them & their respective development (our boys are pretty different from one another!). When my wife & I finally settled down in Rowlett (20 miles east of Dallas), our biggest regret was that we'd have to leave St. Christopher's - and even then, we made the daily 2-hour commute until we couldn't take it anymore. If you have the opportunity to send your kids here, I truly can't recommend it highly enough. It's the best, most nurturing and inspiring school we came across. Best wishes to you & your family, and I hope your experience is as good as ours was! :)

Both my children attended MCHS from ages 3-6. They have different personalities. My daughter is serious and has always been an old soul. My son is a high-energy joker. Each thrived in this environment. Why I'd choose MCHS again: 1. Quality of the teachers. Phenomenal guides including the administration and the aftercare which as a working mom was a huge priority for me. The director is incredibly competent and has a long tenure at the school. When I asked my now 9-year old daughter what she thought people should know about MCHS she said, "The teachers at MCHS are loving and kind and treat the kids like they are capable." 2. Sense of empowerment that my kids have developed here. Kids love work and purpose. Montessori teaches kids they can learn to do things for themselves. From ironing to tying their shoes to using wooden blocks to literally build a four digit number, so they understand the physical representation of the number. 3. Each of my kids has developed an impressive attention span which I credit largely to their time at MCHS. My six year old son designs and embroiders pillows. My daughter and her best pal used to write and illustrate stories together, some of which were more than thirty pages long. They didn't get this focus from me. I thank MCHS! I'd also emphasize the benefits of staying at MCHS through kindergarten. It really does all come together in the third year and provides a strong foundation moving forward. At MCHS, each of my children learned to write in cursive. They learned to read. They developed dear friends. They felt accountable for showing the smaller kids the ropes in the classroom. Not only looking out for them, but sometimes tutoring the little kids, reinforcing their own learning in the process.

I'd toured other schools where the teachers in the room my twins would be in didn't even speak or a knowledge me(red flag). This is one of my first experiences using a daycare facility because we often use family. I had to use this daycare facility out of necessity for my child. My child is pre-k age and is/was potty training and the facility did not properly assist my child in keeping themselves clean or on track with potty training. My child came home with poop streaks, and poor bathroom hygiene from not wiping properly almost daily. My child came home with no pants, no shoes (they lost them and could not find them until the next day), covered in pen ink and marker, a Missing backpack (they lost it and could not find it until the next day) on several occasions. It became increasingly apparent that the facility was not able to take care of children correctly. My child never came home with any notes or work that they had done, so I am only left to assume that no activities or curriculum was used at the facility for the pre-K age students. There was little to no communication with me regarding what was going on at the facility and when I was called it was only to tell me that there was an issue. My child was in this facility for only a few months and WE ARE NOT GOING BACK. The last straw for me was when my child was INJURED by a daycare worker causing the need for an EMERGENCY ROOM VISIT. To be clear this INJURY was caused by the caregiver based on the information I received from the doctor. This may not be everyone's experience, but it was mine and if I was a parent seeking a new daycare I would want to know what is going on at the facility. Please know that I do not normally write reviews of this nature, but felt like others needed to know our experience at this facility in order for them to make the best decisions for their own children and families. Please stay safe and my recommendation is to seek daycare anywhere, but at this facility. I hope the facility improves and works on training for the caregivers in the facility, but they have a long way to go as far as I am concerned.
