When I joined Fair Haven Martial Arts, I couldn't be happier with my decision. The instructors are not only highly skilled, but also incredibly passionate about teaching. Their dedication to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment is truly commendable. From day one, I felt welcomed and encouraged, making the learning experience enjoyable. The class structure is well-balanced, catering to both beginners and advanced practitioners. Whether you're a novice looking to build a strong foundation or an experienced martial artist seeking to refine your skills, this school has classes tailored to your needs. The curriculum is comprehensive, covering a diverse range of techniques and strategies. The instructors take the time to ensure that everyone receives personalized attention and guidance, creating a sense of camaraderie among the students. The positive atmosphere within the school encouraged by the owner and lead trainer extends beyond the mat, as a community of fellow martial artists is friendly and supportive. I highly recommend this martial arts school to anyone looking for a place to learn and grow both physically and mentally. It's not just a school, but a community that inspires and empowers its members to achieve their goals on the training mats as well as off the mats in daily life. read more

Fair haven martial arts is a great place for adults or children to learn priceless self defense and get in great shape while having a ton of fun. All while disciplining oneself physically and mentally. I take Brazilian jiu jitsu here and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. Not only are my classmates cool people but the information learned each week makes me more confident and my decision making smarter in my daily life. I have seen some of the kids classes in progress and the difference it makes for a youngster is tremendous. Between teaching discipline and improving coordination this has got to be one of the best things someone could sign their kid up for. Plus they have a ton of fun learning it. And don't worry, safety is a #1 priority so your kid will be safe. A lot of the adults in my class do the parent child class, it looks like a lot of fun. When I have kids of my own I'll be sure to partake in one. So I give fair haven martial arts five stars because I have nothing bad to say about it. Good clean fun and great life lessons to learn, good for any age. It's Definately worth a shot if martial arts interests you. Lived in fair haven all 24 years of my life and my only regret is I didn't start doing martial arts sooner. read more

The best dojo ever! My 3 kids and I have been going here for 9 years. I can't say enough great things about FH Martial Arts. They put clients first. Sensei Jim knows all the kids and parents names and what exactly what each student needs. He works with them at their pace building confidence and fitness. I've seen Sensei Jim, Diana, Evan, Joe and Professor Jason show the right amount of patience and discipline with all ages and abilities from special needs students to gifted athletes. They get it. It's not a belt factory. They don't push their uniforms and bags. They push self confidence and health. One of my sons likes it so much he's had 5 birthday parties there, and is currently a brown belt working hard to reach his goal of a second degree black belt. I got tired of sitting on the side lines so a few years ago I started training with Sense Jim. I am an avid runner that was plagued with injuries until I started working with Sensei Jim. He is the best personal trainer I've ever worked with. He coached me out of an injury through a marathon and has kept me healthy since. The ladies kick boxing class is a ton of fun, affordable and makes proper form and stretching (key to injury prevention) a top priority. read more

My boys participate in a large array of extra-curricular activities and if there is one that stands out, it's Fair Haven Martial Arts. Sensei James Pawlak (Jim Pawlak) and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and go above and beyond to make the youngest to the oldest of participants feel comfortable and capable. I have experienced first hand where my one son was shy to move up to the next level of competition/age bracket and Sensei Jim took a substantial amount of time sitting aside with him and building his self esteem. The program not only has been excellent for my boys stamina, balance, strength etc but it's been amazing for their mind, moral sense and confidence. I rarely write reviews but felt this program was worth the time so that I can "pay it forward" hoping that more can experience what we have... this is one of the finest programs around. read more

Fair Haven Martial Arts is a very special place. My sons have been attending classes there since they were 2/3 years old. Sensei Jim is kind, dedicated, fantastic with kids of all ages, and a wonderful teacher. He holds his students' attention, leading by example, is patient all the time, and appropriately extra serious when he needs to be. My children enjoy going there (they take ju jitsu in addition to karate) and have learned so much about being strong in body and character. I have taken an adult self defense class there and currently take cardio kickboxing classes. Fair Haven Martial Arts is a wonderful community partner, as well. Always involved with local community events and philanthropy. I'm grateful for Sensei Jim and his experienced staff because they teach my children valuable life skills. read more

We joined Fair Haven Martial Arts three years ago when our middle child began the junior karate program, which she loved! Today, at eight years old, she is working toward her adult black belt with great enthusiasm and commitment. This is because of Jim Pawlak and the amazing group of Senseis (Diana and Evan) working with the kids. They are so patient, dedicated and inspiring. Subsequently, my husband and I started training with Jim at our home on a bi-weekly basis and it's been great for both of us. Whether it's muscle-building, toning, or stretching, he always puts together the right program for our individual needs. If you're looking for an excellent trainer and/or karate instructor, Jim and his team are highly recommended. We are a family of fans! P. Chandler, Rumson, NJ read more

My kids have been doing karate with Senseis Jim, Diana and Evan for several years and love it. I'm impressed with how much they've learned and the confidence as well as self-defense they've acquired as a result. I trained individually with Sensei Jim after my last baby to get back into shape. It's a great work out and jump-started my energy level so I could exercise regularly again. We also study jiujitsu there with Professor Jason and love that too. He's taught us how to find our inner-core strength and to challenge ourselves on many levels. I do private lessons with him and he's patient and really knowledgeable. It's the type of "working out" at Fair Haven Karate that not only exercises our bodies but it works our minds too. The teachers are professional, fun and relentless! read more

Ever since my children were born, it was important to me that I got them into a martial arts program at a very young age. I spent a lot of time researching academies in my area, and boy did I find the right one! Sensei Jim and his staff have done an amazing job in helping my children develop the self esteem, confidence, discipline, focus, and ability to defend them selves that I was hoping for. My very shy and timid daughter has come out of her shell and now displays confidence and self esteem unlike we've ever seen, and my son is more focused and disciplined than ever. Cant thank Senseis Jim, Diana, Evan, and Jason for teaching my kids something that will benefit them for the rest of their lives, while making it fun for them at the same time. read more

Jim Pawlak has been my personal trainer for over five years. I'm now 52 years old and prior to that time had never had any kind of training regimen. Five years into this, I can say that I am elated at both the results we've accomplished together and for his breadth of knowledge...continuing to keep me motivated while making the workouts varied and ever more challenging. Additionally, although I'm not from Fairhaven, I have spent a great deal of time at both his old and now newest location. Whenever I'm there I'm amazed at the response he gets from the community. There are always warm hellos and friendly conversation. That says a lot about a local business person...that he's the kind of guy you feel good about doing business with. read more

Fair Haven Martial Arts is a top notch martial arts school. The facilities and instructors are second to none and it is an absolute pleasure training there. In addition to my 2 kids learning karate, I have been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at FHMA for 2+ years. Their method of teaching all martial arts disciplines makes it fun and challenging. It really has a community/family atmosphere that I don't believe exists at other places. I can't imagine training anywhere else and I highly recommend FHMA to anyone considering martial arts or looking for a new place to train...you won't be disappointed! read more

Fair Haven martial arts is a true gem. You can study both Shotokan Karate and Gracie Brazilian Jiujitsu under the tutelage of some amazing senseis and professors. Both of my older kids are studying both martial arts there and my youngest will start as soon as he's old enough. Senseis Jim, Diana and Evan and Professor Jason are amazing with the kids and have the patience of saints. As someone who has studied several different forms in multiple dojos in the US and abroad, I can't actually believe our luck in having such an amazing dojo within walking distance. read more

Jimmy is a high class trainer. The lone review that is written poorly is complete utter non-sense from a miserable human being that I know personally. Jimmy was a personal train to my family and many friends. I trained personally for many years with him as I trained for football. I was in the utmost top shape and due to the years of that it has continued without him into my 20s. I would personally recommend Jimmy to anyone looking to improve their health. read more

Fair Haven Karate has been great for my family. The instructors work so well with kids of all ages. They manage extreme patience while impressing discipline and instruction. I cannot recommend this Dojo enough. All 3 of my kids have gained confidence in themselves, made new friends, and learned so much. I feel incredibly lucky that my children have been able to work with these instructors in such a rewarding environment. read more

I would give more stars if I could! This is an AMAZING Martial Arts studio. My son has been attending classes for the last 5 years. The lessons he has learned are priceless. His Sensei's have have helped mold him into a wonderful, skilled, confident (almost) 9 year old. He was recently awarded his black belt which he considers his greatest accomplishment. Do your child a favor and enroll them today! read more

Fair Haven Martial Arts has the values a karate studio should have. In addition to teaching children karate they discuss discipline, self control and connect behavior at home and school to advancement in their arts. Senseis Jim, Evan and Diana and Professor Jason are fantastic with children and personable with adults as well. This school is a community in every sense of the word. read more

We love the compassionate, developmental approach to karate used at FH Martial Arts. We've tried all the karate programs from toddler through adult and each are fun, challenging, and age-appropriate. Beyond the traditional instruction, the senseis go out of their way to act as role models and mentors to the students and naturally integrate character education into the curriculum. read more
