We were fortunate enough to find St. David's school and we enrolled him immediately. This school was an incredible place for our child. The student to staff ratio is unparalleled, the curriculum is advanced and definitely sets all of these students up for success. From the very beginning in the 3 year-old classroom until we left just shy of 5, our child had an incredible experience with plays, forest exploration days during the summer, music lessons and even a flight simulator. I highly recommend this school to any American in the area if you are looking for an exceptional school for your children.

Customer service is awesome, services are great, and the establishment is clean!…read moreI came here two times in the last couple of days to take my PRE-TABE (test of adult basic education) test and my DLPT (defense language proficiency test). Mrs. Valerie Hilton is the woman who basically runs the testing services. She's very nice, sets everything up, and she gets you in and out! She also provides great encouragement and is very friendly. The process of requesting to take an exam (for the DLPT) is really straight forward and simple. You call and request a test for any language you please, Valerie puts everything together and sends it you an email with the document required (DA 4187) with instructions. She explains everything thoroughly in the email and attachments. Once you get your form completed and emailed to her, she immediately sends you an email with all the dates available for testing. The DLPT consists of two tests: Hearing and Reading. Both exams are three hours each so they require two appointments which can be taken in one day or broken up in two as long as both exams are taken within thirty days. I decided to do both in one day and it was great! I scored what I needed to get my twenty-five promotion points! (= I started the process to request to test the first week of April and tested in a couple weeks. The PRE-TABE was something I requested to test for in the beginning of April and they were able to schedule me a test date with no required paperwork. BLUF: If you would like to take an exam, the ROB Education Center Testing Services building is the place to do it! You won't be disappointed. Everything about this place is A W E S O M E.

ISN is a new school which formed around 2006. Although called an International school the majority…read moreof pupils are local German children at about 70% of the student body. Other students mostly come from the USA, UK and The Netherlands with a sprinkling of other nationalities including China, India, Spain and Belgium. As a new school ISN has had some growing pains such as an inexperienced primary head teacher who moved on in 2010/11. The new heads of school are Stuart Rich from Australia for Primary and Nicolas Puga an American who lived in Peru and is bilingual Spanish/English speaking for Secondary. I am a parent at the school and Mr. Rich made a positive impact upon his arrival as he was clearly an experienced school head and leader. Staff and parent morale has therefore improved and there is renewed hope for the future. A sign of this is that the school is growing and has just located a second building a short walk from the primary building that will house the older students 13 - 18 years old. The refurbishment of that building begins this summer 2012. ISN has many wonderful and committed families and teachers and the general atmosphere is warm, friendly and relaxed. Plenty of families are friends and socialize outside school together. However, the lack of experienced leadership for a number of years created problems that are currently being rectified. The main one for the Primary years was a lack of a clear curriculum that built upon itself year by year. Parents were very unhappy that teachers could not clearly show them exactly what skills and knowledge their children would acquire each year. This vagueness enabled a couple of teachers to be content with very low expectations. Even now new students from other English speaking countries find they are significantly beyond same age peers in writing particularly. The two new heads of school are doing all they can to raise standards and they have the full support of the PTA. It is also challenging for an English medium school such as ISN when the majority of students are not native speakers. Another aspect that can be an issue for all private schools is when wealthy students lack personal motivation. The German students are generally from wealthy families as most German families send their children to local public schools. Motivation can be low for certain students but again, raising general standards should help. The International families usually have tuition paid for by the company who relocated them to Germany. In summary this is a school with a lot of potential that needs academic standards improved across the board.

The academics are not at the level one would expect from a private school and the students were not held to a consistent standard. Regularly, several students in my son's class would ignore an assignment and instead of giving them a bad grade, the teacher would just extend the deadline so everyone would do well. When we signed up, the administration had a list of after school activities that could be offered, but none were offered the year that we were enrolled. When we chose not to return the next year, 3 months prior to the start of the next school year, we were charged a 3500 Euro fee for cancelling too late. We were very disappointed with our experience even though we had great hopes for the school initially. If you have other options, I would highly recommend that you pursue them.

We have used Study Rooms and have had the pleasure of Alisa as our primary instructor. We can't…read morespeak highly enough of her instruction. She is always professional, courteous, and flexible. We even have a newborn baby that she has no problem with us bringing to lessons. When the baby would fuss or cry, Alisa wasn't phased or annoyed at all. She understands if you're late, she offers to do make up lessons when she has openings in her schedule, and she makes the lessons enjoyable! If you're looking to learn German in a comfortable friendly environment, you should definitely make Study Rooms your first choice!
