Palacio Duhau/Park Hyatt Buenos Aires - One of the landings in the Palacio side of the hotel

This is one of the best Park Hyatts we've stayed at. The team here is always so attentive and…read morefriendly and the accommodations are just stunning. We stayed here a year ago and it was just as amazing and awe-inspiring as the last time. Last year we stayed in the newer building of the hotel, but this time we got to stay in the Palacio, and it was every bit as wonderful as I had imagined. We got to stay in a suite that had a great view of the Maison next door and every touch in our suite was dripping with opulence and chic details. I know it's odd to point out the door handles, but oh my word, the door handles were so nice! As with all stays at Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau, you get access to some great views. The courtyard view is mind-blowingly stunning. The grounds are so meticulously landscaped. We had breakfast every morning onsite at Giola. To get there from the Palacio, you can walk through the subterranean art gallery and just be blown away by how such a special, unique place exists. Palacio Duhau is also well located in Recoleta. We started many of our adventures walking from the hotel to our destinations; another perk of this hotel. In the realm of luxury hotels, Park Hyatts are hard to beat- it truly feels like a vacation staying at such a nice property where everything comes together so beautifully. We'll definitely be back!

The breakfast buffet in Goia is outstanding and they also allow you to order an entree off the menu. My daughter ordered the scrumptious French toast twice during our trip. We had dinner at Duhau and it was one of the most memorable meals we have had. The pumpkin- filled pasta and vanilla cake dessert were truly outstanding. On our next stay to Buenos Aires, I would love to stay in the original palace building.

Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes - The 2nd floor features the more modern collection

Don't let the long line streaming down the block fool you. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, what I…read moreconsider to be Buenos Aires' answer to "most Met-equivalent museum in South America", is free to enter and the line moves quickly. Seemingly the sole reason for the line is the ticketing process during which you're asked if you'd like to make a donation. There's no pressure and you'll be handed a ticket whatever your response, but the process does slow the surge of guests into the place and that's probably a good thing. This is a very popular, excellent museum. I'm a slow and methodical viewer of art and when I say that I tired of looking at everything before running out of things to look at you get an idea of the size of the collection. I began upstairs, where the more modern collection resides then moved down to the main floor with an extensive collection of, well, everything that wasn't up on the second floor. Wanting to at least see the whole place I moved on to a ground floor extension that housed an Egypt-centric exhibit heavy on Spanish text which I couldn't read. No worries; my attention span was shot. Days later, friends we were traveling with came here. There was still a line but they - with differing tastes than me - confirmed the same findings: this is a great museum. I'm not certain what days and times are least attended but if you're not a fan of crowds you might consider such a question before a visit as the Argentinians seem to know what you're waiting to discover: this place is a treasure.

This is a 5-star experience and must visit. It's free to enter, so it can get pretty busy (see…read morepics), but absolutely worth it. The collection is impressive, with a great mix of Argentine and international works, and you could easily spend a couple of hours here. A must-visit if you're in Buenos Aires.
