Until a few days ago I was there with a friend of my own nation (we're both international students from non-European country) and the waitress basically refused to serve us: we ordered two ice shakes as everyone else (very hot afternoon). Waited for more than 40 minutes and the drinks never came. People came after us, ordered the same thing as us, and got their drinks earlier than us. And when they left we were still waiting. The worst part is that no matter how hard we complaint, the waiters always replied in a contempt way, such as "Almost done", or "Just one more minute", without any apologies or adding the word "please". When they were not busy they just stood there watching and laughing at us. Will never ever go to this sh!thole place again.

You forget you are in Germany. You forget you are in an industrial area. You have a river front view. The hotel rooms are large, spacious, comfortable and loft like. People come for the drinks and tapas. Some end up staying the night because of how at home you feel. I would recommend reservations for seating...the lounge area fills up quickly. But you can always stand near the bar or go outside on the terrace area if the weather is decent. They make the best Old Fashioned Cocktail in the area. Germany isn't known for handcrafted cocktails. So this is a major plus for me. Ohhh and there is a Michelin Watch Restaurant (Marly) next door to the hotel/bar. It's worth it if spending a bit on great food doesn't bother you. It's worth it! Want to impress the wife on your anniversary or her birthday? Reservations at Marly, drinks afterward in Speicher7 Bar, some hotel time in a great room upstairs. Wake up to a breakfast downstairs in the bar/lounge area. Explore the river walk area and/or the Shopping area in Downtown Mannheim. Also many great parks are nearby.
