Let me begin by talking a little about myself. I just turned 50 and am about as flexible as a toy…read moresoldier. As part of my wife's effort to get us healthier, she hired Bethanie to give us private yoga lessons in our home. As any guy would be, I was a little resistant. After our first session, I could not wait for her to return. Bethanie has an uplifting personality and you feel like you have known her your entire life. It is truly yoga in mind, body and spirit! Bethanie has the patience to get my rickety body into contortions that, as she puts it, are "uncomfortable but not painful." My body will shake and tremble but the results are amazing. In just a few weeks, I have become more flexible and am close to doing the crow position. The spiritual lift is more amazing than the physical lift. Bethanie has different themes for the night and combines the yoga moves with biblical passages. It is an amazing spiritual journey and the following day, I am sore but spiritually uplifted. 5 stars!!!

I have been to Hess to watch several of my husbands hockey games. It's an old ice hockey rink, but…read moreevery time I walk in there, I see a new trophy that was brought home from the younger teams! That goes to show that the coaches there are of quality. I appreciate the heating unit above the stands where the spectators sit. However, on two occasions, I have been close to being in the line of fire of hockey pucks that went out over the netting hanging above the glass. It may be in Hess's best interest to have the netting reach to the ceiling so that other spectator's do not have such close calls with pucks. I am disappointed that the snack bar isn't open later. My husbands games are often between 9:30pm-10:30pm and there have been times where dinner is minimal. There is almost always a staff member behind the snack bar but they are never open. If more people come to watch the games at this time, it might be worth it for the facility to at least have it open for items such as granola bars. There is a vending machine with chips and pretzels, but there are no healthy(ier) options available.

We enrolled our son in Jr TKD school several weeks ago, and we have already begun to see the…read moreresults from his training. This school is run day to day by several instructors, under the watchful eye of Master Taylor, who has been involved in martial arts since he was 6 years old. It is clear that he has never lost sight of his young start, exemplified by his patients and composure with the kids in his classes. The leadership and discipline he shows acts as an example for the students, who learn these traits through their training. One look at the black belt students in this school will show the hard work and dedication that Jr TKD team contributes to the students. All of these advanced ranking students are well behaved, respectful, composed and their athletic ability is astounding. They are all willing to help with the lower ranking students to correct their form, and help them practice. We have personally noticed some huge improvements in our son in just a few short weeks. He is more attentive, and not just willing but EAGER to help out around the house. He is more focused and thoughtful, and he has been improving his communication skills and confidence. In addition to all of the benefits we have noticed, there is one that really stands out. Master Taylor and the Jr TKD school is deeply involved in the community. Master Taylor regularly teaches classes to local schools in the area. These classes deal with situational issues that arise in lots of students' lives, such as bullying, strangers, obeying rules, and respecting themselves and each other. Sure, this may indirectly bring new students to the school, but the impact that this may have to some kids who may be dealing with these issues can not be measured. Our son looks forward to going to class several times a week, and with the benefits we have seen from his personal improvement, we look forward to bringing him in. As a testament to the schools training ability, many of the students have gone on to win awards at competitions regionally and nationally. The success of any school should not be measured by the number of trophies in the case, but by the character building of the students. In the case of Jr. TKD School, they have both.
