Dr. Rice reads medical journals and takes interest in new findings in dental health. 3- Patience with people who are phobic of dentists. Dr. Rice, although somewhat "dry", is an excellent dentist. He will only recommend procedures if you need them to be done, and takes the time to explain his reasoning. For example, i had a tooth with some of the dentin exposed and he explained that although filling the chip in is unnecessary, in the long run it would be wise since exposure of the sensitive part of the tooth to bacteria could increase the probability of decay. He allowed me time to consider if I wanted to do it, pressure free. Dr. Rice is a very calm dentist. He will talk you through each step of what he is doing if you have fear or anxiety about dental work. He is very logical, and most importantly I trust him as a medical professional. In my experience, he cares about his customers and takes pride in his superior craftsmanship. I go to two of the hygienists, and both are awesome! You won't get a better cleaning anywhere.

From when I walked in everyone greeted me with smiling faces and made me feel welcomed. They walked me through the services and provided an explanation of what was going on with my teeth. Typically this is when they would sell me on doing it then and there, but instead they gave me time to think and did not make me feel bad about not doing the services the same day. Get a second opinion before stepping foot here…read more I was told I needed eight fillings and was encouraged not to worry about the cost because I could write six reviews in exchange for $20 off each. Offering discounts for reviews is already questionable--but using that to offset unnecessary dental work is a major red flag. I got a second opinion from my regular dentist over Christmas break and was told I have zero cavities. There is no reasonable explanation for that kind of discrepancy. Being told I needed extensive dental work that I did not actually need is extremely concerning and unacceptable. I would strongly urge anyone considering this office to be very cautious. Do not agree to treatment without getting a second opinion. No patient should feel pressured into procedures or be incentivized to leave reviews in exchange for discounts.

I leave message. 20 minutes go by so I call again and some young lady answered who was fairly nice. I explained the situation and she transferred me to front desk. In the middle of explaining the situation the front desk woman rudely cuts me off asking my DOB and name. I tell her that info then she tells me only thing she can do for me is extract the tooth but I was explaining I was currently away for Easter weekend and was wondering if I could get a prescription to relieve the gum abscess and she basically says no you can get it pulled or there's nothing I can do for you. Then says "Okay have a great day" as if she were ready to get me off the phone. You should really make sure you have the best appropriate people working where they will be greeting your customers. Absolutely lost a patient because of your front desk lady's lack of compassion. It's one thing to not be able to do it but it's another to simply act like you could care less that a patient is in pain. Disappointed but not surprised.

I originally found her while searching for a dentist local to my second home. Athens is actually halfway between both homes. That works out fairly well. Her staff has always been kind and friendly to me. I am a bit anxious when it comes to my mouth, but she is no nonsense but thorough and gentle. I believe it helps her practice that she was a hygienist first. In fact, my husband and granddaughter will also be seeing her this year.

I went for a cleaning and was very anxious. The hygienist kept talking, and I told her I was not able to talk at the time. She did the cleaning, then told the dentist I was "Not a right fit", and they told me over text message I would have to find another. I apologized for having a panic attack (I was literally fighting tears during the procedure) and they refused to respond. I can't say what went wrong exactly-I was probably a bit short, but also was trying not to calm down. I had previously told them I wanted to have headphones on during the appointment and the hygienist didn't seem to be happy with that. I'm not sure if they were uncomfortable having someone of a different race, but they seemed to ascribe me to a stereotype rather than ask why I was upset or panicking.
