K-Food is like the Adelaide CBD's equivalent to 7-Eleven. I'm not too sure why 7-Eleven never…read morebranched out into Adelaide, but K-Food seems to be an appropriate response to Adelaide's 24 hour convenience needs. It seems like every few months more and more of these stores are popping up in new locations (albeit sometimes in very close proximity) - and I'm glad to see that business is thriving. What can be said about K-Food? They have everything you'd expect from a 24 hour convenience store, namely plenty of junk food, sodas, cigarettes, and personal necessities like pain-killers - a lot of things you shouldn't be having late at night! But the fact that they're there saves you from waiting until morning to get your late night fix, and that's a reality I'm pretty happy with. The thing I like particularly about this location is that the staff is always good to talk to - especially when the streets quiet down and the majority of the weekend warriors have called it a night. Not too long ago I came into K-Food late one night after playing a gig, and the store clerk and I spoke for almost 30 minutes about the Misfits and the evolution of punk music, as well as exchanging our band contacts. I've also had great conversations with a lot of the other store clerks here too, and it seems like the personnel at this shop is all-round good people. It's tough working the graveyard shift, especially with all the drunken hooligans making things even more difficult. So if you're feeling nice, go in and have a chat and make they're night a little more entertaining!

I may have suffered stink-breath (and the associated social rejection), if it wasn't for your chewy range waiting and ready to freshen my mouth in between brushes. I may have felt purposeless without your aisles to peruse in repeated circles, looking for that perfect munchie that will complete me. Of course I only visit you at 2am when these simple things seem like a matter of life and death. So for being open 24-7, I thankyou. In a nutshell - I heart my Kwik E Mart!

Really only utilised by staff by the surrounding businesses, Jetz is the perfect little place to get lunch on your work break. A stock standard little business cafe, you can get sandwiches, burgers, chips and gravy, sweets, pastries and there is plenty in the drinks fridge. The girls who work there are friendly and do a great job keeping up with what always turns out to be a huge lunch time rush. There are a few plastic tables inside and a few to sit at outside, but it's not somewhere you'd really think to 'go to' unless you just needed a quick sandwich. The chips and gravy are delicious and start from just $3 for a small bag and $5.50 for the styrofoam carton with chips and gravy. My favourite, the chicken, lettuce and mayo sandwich comes in at about $4.80 and the roast beef and gravy roll looks good too. They open weekdays and they open early for those who start at ridiculous hours!

They do these things called lepinjas and they offer them in varieties such as 'smoked salmon with cream cheese an capers with Spanish onion' and 'turkey with delicious pesto and assorted other goodness' and they all taste like angel's tears. As a very special secret tip, try their steak sandwich with the lot. Eggs. Bacon. Onions. Steak. Other good things. It will give you a heart attack, but you will die crying happy tears so at worst you break even.

Very cool one stop servo to buy those last minute camping trip supplies that you've forgotten about only the previous day at the supermarket. It's also great for milk, bread.....and smokes (if you're into self inflicted bodily harm). Sorry but I don't: - buy petrol from here as I think they don't offer cheap prices and I don't want yet another discount card taking up room in the wallet. (Besides I'm happy my local Caltex and Woolworths connections (no matter how contrived). - Or Wok in a Box, personally I don't like the taste. As I've mentioned before 'each to their own'. But I do like: - Happy Wash :-) This is a valuable service which I think is not too expensive even for a four wheel drive. So what I do is make a booking the day before, get up early on a Sunday morning, be there by 9am, hand over the keys, have my Happy Wash rewards card stamped, get a free complimentary coffee, buy myself a healthy apricot bun for breakfast and The Age, sit myself down and wait happily whilst my car gets a complete make over. Note: At the end of the Happy Wash stamps you get a freebie. - Brumbies Bakery, nice and tasty and good coffee. - Subway make a good sandwish/roll and is a reasonably healthy option and a convenient quick lunch or dinner. The staff I have encountered have always been friendly and quick, some are not so happy but who is that early in the morning!

On The Run on St Marys, South Road is one of the 80 retail convenience locations in Adelaide. Founded in 1984 by Preregrine Corporation, it is truly a service coated with quality, and makes a model business plan for other businesses to follow. Boasting a large premise on site, patrons don't have to queue long before they get access to the pump. You can feel the energy in this servo, as men religiously wash their cars at Happy Wash, family gather to pick pastries and bread at C Cafe and Brumby's respectively, and school kids form a line for their glass of Chill. The 24 hour supermarket is top notch, for working mums who need a quick pit stop of groceries or for a quick dessert pick me up. Expect quality brands here with the likes of Subway, Wok in a Box and SmokeMart. Other services include an ATM and trailer hire. Like them on Facebook to get promo's on their products.
