No wondering their reviews so low. I came in today for my 2nd time oral regular cleaning of the year. The lady Denise asked me to pay. I was very curious about the out of pocket pay and they didn't charge me at the 1st time. She cuts me off and ask me to talk to my dentist then will collect payment afterwards. I denied the cleaning and refused to sign any form. Their customer service is very bad and rude. They told me that my insurance will covered. In two late insurance send you a big bill. Misleading information about insurance coverage I had a very disappointing experience at this dental office. Before my procedure, I was told that the material they use -- which they claimed is "non-toxic" -- would be covered by my insurance. Based on that information, I agreed to proceed. Nearly 10 months later, the office contacted me and said that my insurance did not cover the service after all, claiming that my plan only approves a material they consider "toxic." They are now asking me to pay for something I never would have agreed to if I had known it wasn't covered. What a rip-off place!!! This shows a serious lack of transparency and responsibility. Patients should be given accurate information about coverage and clear choices before any treatment is done. Blaming the insurance company after the fact is unacceptable. I saw there are so many one star experience in other reviews, which is so true in all aspects. There was a new hire Dr. Dentist recently. Since my previous Dr. left, everything was going great until I had to deal with the new Dr. She refuse to treat my crown restoration because I didn't go along with her for a new crown. Prior Dr had no issues. She was great. Prior to all that I wanted my teeth cleaned. They said they would not clean my teeth unless I went thru a deep cleaning for over $700 dollars. Either you go with them with what they try to up sell you, and if you refuse its over. They will not provide you with what you want/need. These folks are horrible. read more

I was a patient here for about a year. At my first visit, I was told I needed invisalign because my teeth were at risk for other issues due to alignment and not being compliant with my previous orthodontic treatment (retainers). Fair, it was my fault for throwing out my old, dirty retainers I used from high school. However, I recently had an issue with the billing that was explained to me for the payment of my invisalign. We had a discussion of the cost breakdown and what would be paid by my insurance. I paid a good amount from out of pocket due to my insurance not covering much. However I had learned 3 YEARS LATER that not all of the estimated cost covered by the insurance was paid and I was left with a hefty bill THREE YEARS LATER. Mind you the bill did not state any details, just a balance. And I had to call the office to get a breakdown because I was so confused how this did not get caught earlier so I could swiftly make the changes. I will not be recommending any family or friends to this office due to what had happened to me. I am pretty disappointed that I have to give such a poor review. But there are ways you can help your customers thrive by letting them know clearly what the risks are (especially financial) for a pricey dental procedure/treatment. read more

I chose this dental group because it was close to my work, but it turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I was terrified by my experience here, and I truly regret ever walking into this office. Please believe all the one-star reviews-- they are absolutely true. First, they pushed so many unnecessary X-rays. Then they convinced me to get a root canal and crown, telling me insurance would cover most of it. In the end, I was stuck paying more than $2000 out of pocket, and the procedure failed anyway--I lost the tooth. Imagine spending thousands of dollars only to lose the tooth you were trying to save. After that, I was desperate and went back, hoping for some advice (horrible mistake again). Instead of helping me with the lost tooth, the dentist, Martinez, pressured me into an expensive deep cleaning. When I said no, she went crazy and literally told me to leave the office. I was shocked- who treats a patient like that??? So unprofessional! The office manager later persuaded me to get a denture with another dentist in the office. I paid more than $1700 upfront because they promised that it would cover everything. A year later, I was hit with another bill for $500 more. They were just squeezing me for every dollar they could get. This place left me traumatized. The way they treat patients is unprofessional, unethical, and downright cruel. My kindness and trust meant nothing to them; they only cared about money. Please, for your own health and peace, stay away from this office! read more

I'm not sure why this place has the rate listed. The care that I've received has been amazing. When I was 14 I had a horrible experience at the family dentist my parents would take me to. The experience traumatized me so bad I never wanted to step foot into a dentist ever again! I'm 26 now and well.. I had to take care of some oral issues. This EZ dental was nearby and I gave them a shot. Every time I've seen them was reassuring to the fact that they DO CARE. (Along with the fact that I've voiced my anxiety/fear over the dentist and getting dental work done.) With that comes A LOT of questions, more than I'd think they'd expect. They answer to every worry and question I have. The staff is kind, patient, friendly and helpful. They are also very supportive to any concerns you have. Solutions are made here! Though I won't lie, I will have a fear of the dentist forever, the experiences I've had here help me walk into EZ dental with some pep. I love it there. Chose this dental because it's super close to my house. I'm really disappointed as my implant tooth crown came off within a year. I barely used that side to chew, so there's no reason it should have failed so soon unless it was due to poor installation. When I reached out, I didn't feel like the issue was taken seriously, and I was left to deal with the cost and inconvenience on my own. For something as important and expensive as an implant, I expected better quality and accountability. read more

Really expensive, pricing is not upfront, and doesn't take elderly age or any individualized patient care into account. The dental hygienists themselves are super nice as are the front desk staff, but the actual dentist was very dismissive of questions or needs for the individual. The dentist would keep talking into my dad's deaf ear despite us being patients for 3 years. He'd be so confused even with family translating. When we tried to give feedback about why we didn't think a procedure would work for us due to his age, she would sometimes just nod and get up and leave. We'd even do some procedures twice over bc they didn't work. Disappointing even after all the time we've spent with them giving them the benefit of the doubt. read more

The office called me back today to schedule the deep cleaning that I have already said no to three times. She claimed my insurance is going to pay for it. The only problem with that the insurance sent us paperwork saying they were going to cover zero. I told them during my first appointment not to bother submitting the estimate to the insurance. I told the hygienist on the second visit no I was not having it done. I repeated the same thing to the second dentist that she brought in to see me. So much for listening. read more

Crazy about money. For new patient as me, they requested X-ray first. 1) They strongly asked for deep cleaning for over $700 from my pocket since my insurance Delta Dental can not fully cover it. 2) They took deposit of over $300 before my appointment. I was told that they would consider to use laser for deep cleaning, which will be more expensive! 3) Consulted with other dentists by showing the X-ray images, who recommended regular cleaning, NO deep cleaning needed. 4) Immediately cancelled my appointment, and ask the deposit back. Stupidly, they said it would take ~10 business days for approval. Overall, I wish that I have read the reviews about "ripping off money" before I went there. Check your billing carefully!! After months of calling and not getting calls returned we finally got our insurance provider to contact them in our behalf. They finally admitted to us and the insurance carrier that they had double billed us and agreed to refund us. When we followed up on the refund check, they told us the check was mailed but it was not. Then they told us the check was available to pick up from a different address in Willow Glen. After driving all the way over there, it turns out the check had not been approved yet and to come back tomorrow to get it. I don't know if they are scamming people or incompetent but you can't believe anything the office/billing department says. I wish I could give zero stars! read more

I started going to EZ Dental on Cottle (South San Jose) perhaps 2 years ago. I went there because its close to my home, because Medicare announced us seniors could have some dental insurance now, and they listed EZ Dental as one of the providers. I have had a vast amount of dental work in my life because I do not have good "dental genes". Therefore I feel qualified to evaluate. EZ Dental has worked out well for me. They have a number of people working there, and on different days of the week. I want to recommend the two who are the "A-1 team) to me. Dr. Bakdach, DDS Alex Ramirez, Dental Assistant. Dr. Bakdach is the best shot giver I have ever had (I am 75 years old). Frankly, my body was terrified of dental shots from all the shots and painful dental work I have had. It was so grueling that I had my doctor give me a sedative to take prior to the appointment. Unfortunately it was such a low dose I felt nothing. Dr. Bakdach does a few things different (as I noticed). One is that he pulsates the place continually through the shot. Secondly, he injects so slowly it takes a long time. I felt not one twinge of pain the entire time of each shot. That tells me that a faster injection caused pain in the past. Thirdly, the spots he chose for the shots were a bit different; there was a confidence he exuded as he quickly identified the spots. The work I was having was on 3 teeth upper middle. These upper mouth shots were my most dreaded based on past experience. The work that Dr. Bakdach has done has been very competent. He is also friendly, explains/communications well, and is responsive. The dental assistant, Alex, is as noteworthy. I literally thought he was very near to being a dentist. He talked his way through the process, explaining for my sake the what and why, and that is how I could tell he was vastly more experienced than many. So, I only write reviews when I feel qualified to evaluate and when I am extremely pleased. I also "name names" as people, knowledge and skills vary. I hope it is helpful. I also compliment the office staff I have met. They have been competent, friendly and responsive. I have also been satisfied with the dental hygenists. read more

Appointment was at 3pm for cleaning. Showed up at 2:50pm to be early. Was not seated till 3:37pm... The hygienist RUSHED through my cleaning. Legit, it was her mission to hyper speed this job. Scraped around my top row. Told me my bottom row "looked fine" and didn't scrape the bottom row. During the polishing time, she polished 3 front bottom, all of the front top row, squirted water till it filled up my mouth and told me to close. She finished by 3:54pm. At first i went for an annual cleaning part of insurance coverage to EZ Dental San Jose. They said my tooth looks good but requires deep cleaning and then they said laser will be better. Insurance covers mostly and you owe 400$. I said no then they discussed with the consultant and said 145$ to do deep cleaning manually. I said OK, cleaned and paid 145$. Then at the Jan 2021 i received a bill stating that they charged insurance 1670$ and i owe additional 305$. Really frustrated to know why they charged me more. Called the office this morning and they confirmed that I don't owe anything. Just ignore the EOB from Aetna. Hopefully this is kept simple and won't come back. read more

I was seeing another dentist, but still having some sensitivity. Dr. Thai was highly recommended. Dr. Thai save my tooth and was very honest with her work. She's a miracle worker. She even save me some money by not having to do a crown at this time. Her passion for dentistry is a 10+ . She's a perfectionist when it comes to her dental work. Also you can't compare Maria's cleanings with other hygienist, she's amazing very thorough. Excellent service today by the dental hygienist Maria. I had a deep laser cleaning done, which in my mind was going to be completely unpleasant, lol, but she made it as comfortable as possible. She even took the time to fully explain why and show me what she was doing. It was very helpful! Also, wonderful service by Jessica! I have braces and she was there to remove the wires and rubber bands and properly put them back on again. I can tell a lot of time and consideration was put into making sure the environment is clean and safe for the patients. Great service all around! read more

A year passes and i get a bill for 3,000 $ this place is a fraud my insurance told me if i would of just waited three more months it would have been covered . Lady at the front desk lied to me. Rather, this rating reflects our dissatisfaction with the hard sell we received for ancillary services at our first visit from all staff at each step in the intake process. These ancillary services included Invisalign Invisible Braces, Deep Cleaning and Dental Surgery (for my wife). I should note that I made a mistake during last year's Open Benefits Period and signed up for an HMO away from our PPO that we held for the previous 20 years. The specialist was clueless and confused why the general dentist decided to do it and not fix it. They call me multiple times to setup a cleaning but they havent gotten the memo that i found a great general dentist elsewhere. After multiple calls in a yr to me they decided to send me a bill to "get my attention". I called and edeline or whatever her name is quickly wrote it off because it was a mistake and tried to schedule my cleaning and complained why i havent returned a call. My 10-year-old son had two fillings done by Dr. Bae and she was amazing! I stepped out of the room when she gave him the novacaine injection and he did great...said he didn't even feel it! The office went above and beyond for COVID safety. They took both our temperatures before letting us in, had me fill out a questionnaire, the room had a purifier and a large tube suction that sucks the air particles.
