I usually went to a different eye doctor when I lived in Statesboro, but in a crunch I had to go to…read moreLord Eye Center in March 2012. The doctor himself was very nice, but his front desk staff was very rude. Upon arriving they did not greet me, they just handed me paperwork. Upon leaving, the person that was taking my payment was too busy talking to another customer (who had already been helped) to even look at me. She would glance to tell me the amount I owed and that's about it. When I asked a question about my prescription, interrupting her conversation, she almost looked annoyed. Seeing how they treated me, I decided to order my contacts at my old doctor because I did not want to give Lord Eye Center anymore business because of their rude staff. This morning I called to have my prescription faxed to me since I no longer live in Statesboro and the person on the other end of the phone, Lisa, was incredibly rude. When she asked for my fax number I went to read it off the fax machine to find that the paper with the number had been removed. I apologized incessantly for having to look for it, but it was not enough. Lisa audibly sighed a few times and I apologized again to which she said "::sigh:: It is fine, I just cant do anything until you find that number" So I told her I would hang up so she didnt have to wait and she agreed. When I called back with my number she finally asked for my name, I said it and then spelt it. Ruiz, R-U-I-Z. She then sighs some more and reads back my information to ensure it was correct and procedes to say my last name purposefully incorrect "Rizzuro" and follows it up with "Or whatever that is supposed to be..." I have never experienced such blatant rudeness from what is supposed to be a professional office. After today, I know the attitudes I received in March were not special to that one visit. I know this is how their front desk staff is and I will make sure all of my friends in Statesboro know to not patronize this eye doctor, but to take their money else where.

I've never had a bad experience here. They're friendly, knowledgeable, patient (it took a while to…read morepick out the right frames), and best of all--QUICK! I made a same day appointment and upon arrival, I was seen promptly by Dr. Porter. Best of all, my glasses were ready for pick-up less than 24 hours later. I'd definitely recommend them.

The staff was very helpful and it was easy to book an appointment on short notice. The doctor took a lot of time to get to know my needs and didn't try to oversell me on a new prescription. He had family photos all over his office and it made for a very welcoming environment. I highly, highly recommend Dr. Laircey. On the other hand, the "Boomers" side of the store is just.. sigh... rude! I browsed around their (overpriced) selection before heading in to my appointment and not one person checked in to see if I was interested in anything. Their prices were OUTRAGEOUS. I've had glasses for 5+ years and have never (and would never) drop $400-500 on a pair of glasses. I've had great luck with the $95 (frames and lenses) deal from Warby Parker. My last two pairs have lasted over two years. I just ordered a new paid and called up Boomers to see if they could do an adjustment. Nothing fancy, they were just a little bit too big around the ears. Warby refunds customers $30 on adjustments so I figured I didnt have anything to lose in calling this office up for help. Boy was I wrong! Chuck answered the phone and told me he would "rather not" help with an adjustment because it was "a slap in the face for not purchasing through his store." HA! I was completely caught off guard. He said, "I guess I'd have to help if you came in the store, but I can't guarantee they wouldn't break." Uh, ok? Thanks a lot, Chuck. You definitely sealed the deal to never, ever, ever shop in the eyewear section of this store. You've lost a customer, and I hope by spreading the word I can help others from this unfriendly, unhelpful store. Don't let this review sway you from Dr. Laircey- he was hands down the best optometrist I've ever gone to!

The office ladies were unbelievably friendly and I feel very empathetic that they have to work with Dr. Davidson. The office displays signs every 5 feet or so, "Keep your mask on, if you feel the need to take it off, go outside!" Which I understand especially in 2020 but it's a little much in 2023. His assistant took my paper work, and secured a mask using tape under my glasses. After a long wait, Dr. Davidson came in for my eye exam. The first words out of his mouth is, "Please keep your feet on the chair! I move around a lot and don't want to trip over your feet!" He started the eye exam and audibly "huffed" and said, "you need to fix your mask! Your glasses are fogging up!" My face was sweaty because it was very hot in the examination room and the tape was loose on my mask. I attempted to re tape it, which lasted a few minute but of course it came lose again and fogged my glasses. He was visibly annoyed and raised his voice asking me to "fix it!" Every time it came loose, almost insinuating I was sweating on purpose or somehow it was my fault. When it was time for the eye pressure test, he still uses the same antiquated equipment from the 1970s. I accidentally flinch and said, "I'm sorry, it just appears like it's going into my eye." He said, "You will not feel it! I have numbed your eyes!" When I accidentally flinched a second time, he yelled for his assistant to come in and said, "He can't hold his head still! Hold him in place!" I honestly started to believe I was on a hidden camera show. I have heard about curt doctors with god complexes but I had never experienced it. This is my one and only review I have ever wrote. The experience was that bad.
