They made my glasses 5 times and could not get it right. So what happens next? They thought they deserved to keep the eye exam money and I had to pay out of pocket at the next place I went to even though none of it was my fault. Nobody is going to use the results of an exam that could not make glasses that were correct. This place has gone downhill so bad in the last couple of years. It used to be the best place to go but not anymore. Now, a year later I have to run across the house to answer the phone for a robocall from them about me needing to schedule an appointment. Like I would ever return after that experience! I had to wait months for that appointment too, when they are CLOSED on Fridays. I would be embarrassed to say I worked there. Five times? And they think it's my fault so I don't deserve all my money back? Crazy! read more

I broke my glasses this morning while washing them. I went to my eye doc office (Albemarle eye center) I thought I could trust to help me. I was told "we don't have glue here, we can't help" I pleaded that I needed a temporary fix because I HAVE to work. I'm a single mom, I don't have time to take off work because I can't see. She sent me on my way. I decided to get a second opinion, I googled the near by optometrists. I landed at Eye Care Center. 15 mins I was out of there with new temples on my glasses. They took care of this single mom. I'm grateful and will be changing my eye care center. read more

This place is horrible. They are sending me extra brills for stuff I do not owe. My insurance has confirmed I do not owe the extra amount. Horrible will never go back. Avoid the headache of dealing with this place!!! read more

New to the area I decided to give this place a try. The staff is extremely friendly and the doctor seemed very knowledgeable. But had to return since I could not see out of my new glasses and this is the first time I ever had an issue and I have been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old. They were very nice to do a re-exam on me said the prescription was correct but they redid the glasses anyways based on what I had stated was the issues. Once I received the glasses a second time they were not as bad but still having issues and when driving as I come upon signs blurry. Will I return a 3rd time - sorry to say no. I have made another appointment at another eye place based on a friend's recommendation. Yes I am out almost $900 but that will be on me. Just will not waste more time here sorry to say. read more

Optometrist Michael Baughan must have had a bad day or was tired of seeing me. I was having trouble with my new glasses, they had remade them once already and today (9-9-2021) was my second recheck that the optical shop supervisor (Charles?) said I needed to have, I had gone in on (9- 7-21) thinking maybe there was some adjusting they might could do to help with my problem with the right lens, but ultimately Charles decided I needed a recheck, I said ok, you're the boss! So today as soon as Michael Baughan walked in the room he has a attitude with me, I believe he said, Mr. W , I just can't keep doing this. There is nothing more I can do. So I tried to start explaining my issue and he cut me off and said," Look I don't know what to do." I had enough, I got up and said, if you don't know what to do, I do. I walked out very upset into the lobby, after a few minutes to think about the 6 months or so I have waited going through the process just to be talked down to like my vision issue was a burden upon his highness's day? Charles was trying to help but he had already passed me to Baughan two days prior. So I felt like the ONLY option I had was to ask for a refund. Whereby Charles was more than happy to issue a refund to get me gone. I admittedly, after dealing with Baughan's attitude gave Charles reason to be a jerk to me, but Baughan didn't have to talk down at me like I was wrong for having an issue. I was only there because Charles said I needed a recheck! I just wanted to get my glasses fixed. Their is surely a problem when you see better with old glasses than your new ones, I never expected anyone to "perfect" my vision, I just can't pay for a downgrade. My old RX with no scratches would have made my year! I gave no problem till given attitude. read more

Dr. Baughan has always been kind to me, and to my son. He has listened to our concerns, and has explained what the problems were. Thankfully, there were no causes for concern. In my case, as well as my son's, our eyes were actually getting better. read more

Very happy with the care and service our family receives. The doctor is very kind and thorough. The staff is prompt, compassionate and super helpful. This is the worst business I have ever been to. They called saying my glasses were ready, I live an hour and a half away so I told them I would be getting there around the time that they close and they said it was okay. On the way there I am driving as quickly as possible while I calling two more times to make sure it was okay that I get there around closing time, each time they said it was fine. Pulled in at 5:57, they close at 6, the doors were locked and the ladies just stared at us. 10 mins go by of the mm just staring before they come out to leave and pretty much tell us to come back tomorrow. Do tell me who is going to reimburse me for the amount of gas and time I wasted. All of the staff that worked tonight need to be fired or put on leave until the can learn what customer service is. Never will I use or recommend this business. All of my friends got a mass text telling them about this horrible experience and will not be using this business. read more

So much went wrong from the time spent in office visit to now with me getting bills that I DO NOT owe. My insurance has paid for the visit in full and wrote a letter for me to Eye Care Center explaining that the bill was paid in full and I do NOT owe anything. Then, I receive another bill for glasses that we did not purchase. Two separate bills that I owe nothing on and this is the 4th bill I have just received and now they are threatening me with collections. I pay my bills and I will NEVER do business with EYE CARE CENTER in Elizabeth City, NC ever again; nor will I recommend them to ANYONE! read more

I've been a patient at the Eyecarecenter for years and each visit has been a wonderful experience. Dr. Baughan and the staff are friendly and willing to help make the most of my time there as a patient. I am usually in and out within 30-40 minutes for a routine eye exam. When calling for an appointment, I am usually scheduled within 2 weeks. Facility is clean and well kept. My only complaint (which is why I am rating with 4 stars) is the selection of frames for women. The selection is boring and pretty basic. Nothing much to choose between. Wish there were more to choose from. read more
