What a day! This was one of the best planned, well orchestrated tours we have had in a long time.
We were met by James (what a total sweetheart & super knowledgeable). He piled us into our minivan and we started our day off Mt Field National Park with a bottle of water and a walk to see Horseshoe and Russell falls. James took us to the top of the park and had us walk down instead of going the long way around or uphill/upstairs. This meant we started off at Horseshoe and then came across the top of Russell. As we continued to meander down the walk, we heard the roar and kept catching glimpses between the branches but nothing prepared us for the majesty when we rounded that last platform. Stunning.
Next we went to Tynwald Park for a lovely picnic lunch and this was not just two slices of soggy bread with bologna and a bag of chips like tours tend to give... no sireee! Judy, the owner of EyeSee Tours hand makes the bread, the coleslaw, roasts the chicken, boils the eggs, you name it (tomatoes, cucumbers, gherkins) and even cans her own sweet beets and pickles & James served it all picnic style. Oh yeah, did I mention the homemade relish? Delicious. Also fresh strawberries, homemade cake and pear for dessert. Fresh hot tea/coffee also carried along.
Then to Bongarong Wildlife Sanctuary where you get to walk among the Roos and hand feed them!!! You get to see the little Tassie devils, koalas, emus, echidnas, wombats, kookaburras, you name it and all the proceeds go to the park and preservation of these beautiful creatures.
Finally the tour wrapped up with a visit to the town of Richmond with enough time to sample a local pint, try some local sweets n treats etc or shop, check out the convict gaol or convict bridge.
Finally back to the minibus and there on each of our seats was a 'thank you' gift from Judy and James. Super day! Super guide and Super great value for money! Take this tour. read more
