My son went in March for an eye exam for glasses and contacts. His glasses arrived within a few weeks, but we still don't have contacts. At the first appointment, they said they would order a trial set so they could teach him how to put them in and take them out. Weeks passed with no update. When I called, they said the contacts were delayed. A few days later they called again, explaining they had misunderstood and thought I wanted a full prescription, but now realized we were waiting on a trial set. They said the trials had arrived, so we scheduled an appointment--difficult, since they only do beginner contact training on Wednesdays. I rearranged my schedule and pulled my son out of school, and he was excited. We arrived early and waited outside. 9:00am came and went. By 9:30 we left. I called, but no one answered. They never opened that day, and we received no call or notice. My son still didn't have contacts. They later returned my call and apologized, so we made another appointment. At this point they already had my payment, and I just wanted to finish the process so my son could get contacts and we could plan to go to Newport for future exams. The assistant still couldn't help him get the contacts in, so she sent him home with them to practice, but he wasn't able to. We returned the next week, and the same assistant tried again. Thankfully the doctor was there and took him into an exam room, spending time teaching him. After that, he could easily put them in and take them out--but the contacts weren't the right prescription, so he couldn't see out of them. They ordered another trial pair, and we haven't heard anything since. I stopped by in June on a day they were supposed to be open, but they were closed again. I happened to see the assistant outside and asked if we could get a refund for the $75 contact appointment so we could go somewhere in Newport with better availability. She said she didn't see why not. I also left a message requesting his eyeglass prescription (covered by insurance) and the refund. Today is July 7th, and I still haven't heard back. Our original contact appointment was March 19th. Maybe we fell through the cracks--I really don't know. But my son, who was so excited about getting contacts, is now completely disheartened. The service and communication have been the worst I've ever experienced. They are rarely open, and even when they're scheduled to be, they often aren't. The staff themselves were kind, and my son especially liked the doctor, but the overall experience has been unacceptable. I have filed a complaint and request for refund with the BBB. I will continue trying to get our refund because it's the right thing for them to do, and we'll be going to a doctor in Newport moving forward.

I saw Dr. Beardsley. He performed several tests and scheduled a return visit in 3 months. When I went back, he was concerned that the 'freckle' was not stable. He immediately referred me to The Casey Eye Institute in Portland. Turns out, it's cancer. I need radiation and on-going Oncology care. Because of both of these doctors, I have a very high survival rate. My husband also saw Dr. Aryah for double vision. He referred my husband to a doctor in Eugene who diagnosed him with Myasthenia Gravis. These doctors are not hesitant to refer you to specialists. I'm very impressed with the level of care and highly encourage everyone to get routine eye exams!!!

Dr. Aryah took my husband's blood pressure and told him to go to the emergency room at the hospital...across the street. My husband did as suggested...and was life flighted from Newport, OR to Portland where he received a pacemaker. My husband would not be here today if not for the extra personal care and genuine concern given him by Dr. Aryah....our eye doctor!

There are unfortunately many hospitals in the region that are underfunded and in desperate need of repair. Although originally built in 1952, Samaratin has been extensively upgraded in recent years. Every segment of the facility I observed today appeared to be clean, inviting and well-functioning. Signage was clear and informative, security checkpoints were effective, and the gorgeous views of the ocean throughout the building were incomparable. My friend's private room was clean and boasted a large television, a recliner, and sofa that pulls out into a bed, expansive views of the coastline, and a gigantic bathroom with a roll in shower, a refrigerator, and a large sliding door that accomodates almost any form of mobility aids and ambulation devices. I'm so happy my friend had such a comfortable room to recuperate in. Most importantly, during the three hours I spent visiting my friend, every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. If I were to need a hospital while visiting the Oregon coast, I would be very lucky to be admitted to Samaratin Pacific Communities Hospital. This place is great!

The pricing was reasonable, they moved things around to accommodate mine and my family's schedules. I had fillings and a tooth extraction and didn't feel much of anything during the procedure. If I had questions, they were more than happy to confer with the doctor to ensure I knew what needed to be done. Even after I moved -- approximately 3 months after I had moved in fact -- I got a check in the mail for a little over $200. I had overpaid for some work that was done and had a credit on my account. I had completely forgotten about it and they were kind enough to mail it to my new address without me even having to remind them about it. Very professional. I would highly recommend them!
