I do a fair amount of driving and don't want to break the bank simply to fill up my tank. As a general rule of thumb, Delta Gas Stations are pretty ubiquitous, and they usually offer the best prices you're going to find (although Conoco...particularly the Conoco Gas Station on Rt. 22 in Branchburg, NJ...definitely gives Delta stiff competition when it comes to a relatively painless, economical experience at the pump). I grew up not far from here, but I don't make my way up in this direction very often these days. My old friends have moved away, or I've lost touch, or they've cut me loose, or they've died. Occasionally, though, I do come up to visit my old home town of Wayne or nearby Totowa (I don't venture into Paterson anymore; I have good memories of it, but I've become increasingly timid in my old age about driving into high crime areas). It would be easier, and faster, to just continue on Rt 287 North, and turn right for the Wayne exit, which becomes Rt 23 (now known as "Heroin Highway," or so I've been told). Back in the mid 70's, when we moved to Somerset County (which geographically really isn't that far away but seemed as distant and alien as Mars to the surly, alienated teenager that I was), Rt 287 ended at Montville, and this isolated, meandering route was the only way my parents knew to get back to Wayne when they dropped me off to visit friends. Or when they picked me up to take me home. (The area has become more built up with the passing decades, but it still looks remarkably like what I remember from my teenage years.) Now, I'll drive it for nostalgic reasons, but also because I like to stop in and gas up at this Delta. It's on a road that might be described as "country," (by North Jersey standards, anyway), but you have to be careful pulling into the gas station, as well as pulling out of it. Traffic comes zipping along pretty quick, you're not going to be able to see very far up the road or down it, and if your reflexes are less than perfect, you're liable to get clipped by one of NJ's notorious "gotta get to wherever the hell it is I gotta get to at warp speed" drivers. It's a small gas station, with not a lot of room at the pumps. Each side can usually accommodate 2 drivers. The owner, or at least the "gentleman" who pumps the gas, is efficient, and will fill your tank up pretty quickly. If you're expecting small talk, this is not the place where you'll get it. He's probably a nice guy with non-customers, or maybe "regulars," and I in no way mean to impugn his character, but when he leans in and gruffly asks, "CAN I HELP YOU!?!?" it's in the same tone of voice and with the same enthusiastic "warmth" as someone else "asking," "CAN I CAVE YOUR SKULL IN WITH A BRICK!?!" It's the same approach every time I stop in here. In this era of Covid-19, he wasn't wearing a face mask; perhaps he's an old-timer who regards resorting to such measures as effete, Blue-State foppery. In the interests of securing cheap gas, I made sure I was wearing mine. But it's because of this that I'm giving this particular Delta less than 5 stars. Maybe when this crisis ends (hopefully soon), I can raise it up to 5 stars. Not that this guy is holding his breath waiting. There appears to be a garage attached, although I'm not sure what kind of mechanical work, if any, they do. If the prices for mechanical work are as reasonable as their gas prices, it might be worth checking out. The gruffness of the proprietor doesn't really faze me-- I've encountered remarkably few charm school graduates manning the pumps anywhere I've gone for gas in NJ. And, the truth is, if I had to pump gas all day in a variety of harsh weather conditions, dealing with an assortment of customers who might be best described as "a*sholes," I suppose I could conceivably be less than charming and upbeat too. In any event, if you're looking for the cheapest gas around, this is the place to go. At least, that's been my experience.

My parents have lived in the community for over 60 years and as long as Barry's Pharmacy existed…read morethey have been customers. The last few years things have changed and two weeks ago my Mom was treated with disrespect because she has not been in for "quite a while and you need to be a steady customer to come there". I heard about this and just felt the need to tell you how awful it made her feel. She was so upset and has now decided to never walk in that store again. Not shy from Elder abuse you should be ashamed of yourself! I hope this review helps others spare your loved ones the same treatment! Shameful!!!!!

Barry's has always been your local "downtown" pharmacy. Not big box CVS, Walgreens or Riteaid…read more You always felt like you had personal treatment. Lovely gift shop when you needed a quick present. And they would gift wrap for free. I don't know what happened. I think ownership changed and it's a completely different environment. Pharmacists are rude. They act annoyed if you want a side conversation about your prescription. And what is with the change of your hours?? Closing at 6:00 during the week and totally closed on Sundays?!? I'll be moving all my scripts to another location. Maybe I'll shop your other items when they are on sale. Gift shop items are now pricey compared to other locations and on line prices. I will grab my greeting cards at the dollar store from now on. What's with the pull down metal security gates?!?
