I have been buying windsurfing and now more recently also wing foiling equipment from Extreme Windsurfing, for 19 years. In all cases the transactions have been a pleasure. Jim (the owner) is very honest and knows the windsurfing industry backwards and forwards. His recommendations have always been top notch in fulfilling my requirements at the time, starting from my arrival there as a complete beginner to now being a reasonably decent windsurfer. Jim has direct communication with all the major equipment manufacturers and has gotten me significant deals over the years. To buy a board or any major piece of equipment online instead of at a local shop, would be a huge risk that I am not willing to take. If there are problems (wrong item received, board damaged, etc.), you are in trouble. In the only one or two instances this has happened over my many dozens of purchases with Extreme over the years, Jim seamlessly corrected the problem, which would have nightmare for me if I were trying to handle it on my own, if that were even possible. You don't get this benefit if you are ordering online. And I have always found Extreme's prices to be at least equal to and most of the time better than I could get online. I have also taken lessons at Extreme numerous times throughout the years, and they have been great. Everyone there is really cool and a pleasure to deal with. I wish that I could give this place no stars. The guy that owns this place is the BIGGEST jerk. Actually, he's a raging racist. The location is nice and the equipment isn't bad so I'd imagine it would be a nice place to go if you aren't a minority. When I called he quoted me a certain price for lessons and subsequent equipment rentals. During the lesson, the teacher (amazing, btw) quoted me the exact same price. Lo and behold, when I showed up next time to rent equipment, the prices had miraculously doubled...in a week. Naively, I paid. Since this was nagging at me, I called him the next day and he quoted me the original lower price for equipment rentals. This happened to two other people that I know at completely different points in time. Who this didn't happen to was my non-minority cousin. I hate to be this person. Really, I do. But when you are dealing with water and safety, it's important to know if the person that is supposed to be there in case of an emergency might not be there in case of an emergency because of your race. read more

Best windsurfing / SUP place in NJ/NY area for all levels. I have been visiting Extreme Windsurfing for more than 3 years already. I got windsurfing lessons with Petra and Jim, excellent lessons by the way, and later acquired my first Windsurfing and SUP board with Jim's help to ensure I would be getting the right equipment. Jim and his team are always available to help quickly regarding equipment acquisition/addition/replacement, technical details and even weather conditions to travel the right days to AC, since I live far away. About 8 years ago I took my family to Extreme Windsurfing for windsurfing lessons. It didn't stick with my wife and kids but it stuck with me. Jim and his crew have been there for me as I progressed from rentals to purchase. I was set up with the right equipment at the right price. Eventually I got into Stand Up & Paddle and again Jim was there to guide and teach me. This place gets better and better each year with more equipment, more events and this year the addition of food which I can not wait to try. This is a great place to spend some time even if your partner does not take part in the water sports available. There is a mini boardwalk with a gazabo and a beach. The view is amazing and when the wind picks up you can watch the windsurfers and kite boarders do their thing. The water is always warmer in the bay and the beach area is shallow and refreshing. Just remember to bring water shoes. Extreme Windsurfing is one of the shores best kept secrets. read more

I am from Cape Cod. My search for Fanatic surf SUP's led me to Extreme Windsurfing. I was just starting out and I was a big guy at that time. Jim spent an hour on the phone with me.... explaining how boards were made, what made them stable for a guy my size etc. I was so impressed, that I drove past all my local shops and drove 400 miles, each way, to buy from Jim. The board was perfect. I have since returned to buy 4 more boards, all just as good as the first. I am so satisfied with the knowledge, quality of produce, price and service that I have bought a total of 5 Stand Up Paddleboards from Jim. I do not live anywhere near this shop, but I will never buy another paddleboard anywhere else but this shop. Jim, the owner, knows his stuff. He is very friendly and responsive. We communicated via email and phone calls and he was very prompt to return my calls and emails. He is knowledgeable, and follows up when needed to be sure stuff arrives at my temporary locations during my stays. Jim and Jason have all sorts of sails and boards to rent... and even lessons if you are learning (I had to book lessons one day in advance though).
