Please read this review and pass it along. Whatever you do, DO NOT hire this company for your…read moremove. Michael Varrin, owner of GOTZ2GO, is one of the most dishonest, unscrupulous operators I have ever met. You cannot trust him on any level.
Mr Michael Varrin of Gotz2g comes across as an honest businessman. A man who helps senior citizens. He is supposedly empathetic to those individuals who are vulnerable and having a difficult time financially. In his website, he quotes that " Our hauling services, {provide} affordable long distance moving services and local moving services {to} ensure that your move is smooth and seamless without any problems. You don't have to worry about any of the hassles". It goes on to say "We will arrive at your new place. Your belongings are as you left them, safe and sound. We bring all the stuff into your new site."
I am a senior citizen, living on a very exhausting tight budget. I did due diligence to totally research local movers. His ad rang true. So, I took the plunge. When I first contacted the owner, I clearly explained my situation, stating that I needed 2 types of moves, one from Calgary to Airdrie and one for my local unit to be reorganized. Mr Varrin told me that I would be charged 2 different prices, one for the move from Calgary to Airdrie at $155/hr, and one to reorganize my storage unit at $85/hr. I agreed and the date was set.
On the day of the move, Mr. Varrin arrived at my one storage unit, at Sentinnel Storage in Calgary 12:30 pm. The 12' x 10' unit was only half filled. Although it took him 31/2 hr to do this move, I said nothing. He arrived at my storage unit in Airdrie at 4:00 pm. When I became concerned at 9:00 pm that the move was not completed with the lateness of the hour, he told me not to worry and that he would deliver the rest of my belongings the next day.
Most of my expensive furniture was still on the truck, including an expensive China Cabinet worth over $4,000, a kitchen table set worth over $2,800, a coffee table set and end tables worth $3,100, a set of new Blizzak winter tires worth $700 and misc were still on that truck.
I stupidly, naively trusted him. It has been a nightmare since that day. I was not told at any time during the move or at the end of the night how much it would cost me. Although I paid him for the move, he changed the price without submitting a proper invoice (I have yet to receive that invoice) and demanded an additional $1,000. When I agreed, he again changed his demands and refused to deliver my irreplaceable furniture to the original location and said that I would have to hire a company to go to some undetermined destination to retrieve what is /was rightfully mine.
When I tried to resolve this, Mr. Varrin bragged, "What are doing to do...go head, sue me" or "you want to push me, you have no idea who you are dealing with" which is a complete threat. He backed this up by the threat that he had served prison time and he "would have no problems flattening me to the ground" if I tried to get my property back.
I have now just found out today that inspite of numerous attempts and weeks/months of constantly calling and texting to find out when I am going to have the rest of my furniture delivered to my storage unit, that he will not honour his contract. Infact, he has taken my expensive. irreplaceable furniture to Auction. He held my over $9,100 of my expensive furniture and misc. items, such as a set of new Blizzak tires as hostage until I I met his demands that kept changing. But he kept fabricating what I owe him without a proper invoice (in fact, he has still not provided a proper invoice for services rendered). His words, "I can charge anything I want, it's my business" is not someone you want to do business with. Not on the worst day of your year.
At this point, because I refused to be held hostage to a con artist, I have lost over $8,000 of beautiful pieces of furniture that I have owned for over 20 years.
Michael Varrin, owner of GotZ2Go, is one of the most unscrupulous, dis honest and contemptable men I have ever met. He should be held accountable and charged with fraud. To do this, I have to take him to court, with monies I do not have, to sue him.
