I have used temp-to-hire solutions for over a decade, most of which ended in permanent employment. I don't know if it's Ocala (probably) or just Express (definitely), but I consistently ended up in horrible temp situations that no reasonable person would ever tolerate long term. They tell you they temp to hire but at job site they say not permanently just there for 2 days. Then they send you to work in the middle of a storm and just for 4 hours You call them, they tell you they don't have anything. They'll call you as soon as they have something. You download the app find out. They have work around your areabut it don't call you back. read more

Blistering incompetence and no organization whatsoever. I called yesterday I did the online app yesterday I made the appointment for today at 10:30 I arrived at 10:06. 25 minutes later I was informed that there was more paperwork to fill out which should have been given to me when I arrived at 10:06 not right before the interview. Additionally I was informed that the process takes 45 minutes to an hour they should've done the background check before I even arrived, which would've saved time. I had another interview after this place, if I sat through the process at this place I would have been late for the next interview. So basically if you choose to deal with this temp agency be mindful of their incompetence if they can't handle paperwork for an interview how can they handle your check and your job. read more

Used them for years until they recently screwed me big time. Helped me get into some solid jobs but without warning or reason, terminated 1 position indefinitely- I'm out of work for a couple weeks, then I start a new job and literally caught Covid the same week. Was told by the office staff at express to take a mandatory 5 day quarantine and do not return until a positive test was provided. I missed like 8 or 9 days but was promised and ensured my job would be safe . Call the following Monday when I finally was clear to go back; first they try and tell me "because of lack of communication and not reporting in that I wouldn't be allowed to return to my job assignment or use their offices any further." So I get mad and the literally tell them - you're office was the ones who told me to stay home and quarantine. I provided plenty of proof I did in fact test positive, the response was - sorry for the inconvenience, we will try and find another job placement . What a bunch of lies. Been calling and calling my number won't get recieved , my emails and texts are ignored and it's been about 4 weeks since anyone from the office even bothered to contact me. Their lack of communication is pitiful and don't trust these guys to ever have your back! Threw me under the bus and never called the job I was assigned to so they believed I just quit , express claimed I didn't report I had Covid. Im now unemployed and can't even pay my damn bills all cause I caught a disease that I was forced to stay home - didn't get sick time, did not get paid at all and pretty much got blacklisted for what reason?!! I used to refer people to this company but now I tell them my story and they run for the hills. Don't let this happen to u, they'll screw u in a second . Not to mention how much money they would take out of ur paycheck and they make money off you by putting u to work somewhere making less an hour than other employees until you "potentially" get the opportunity to go on board with that company . But they usually draw it out or move u to another job post before that happens . Seriously go somewhere else. Can't believe I ever trusted them, didn't even get an apology or explanation. Being that Zero stars is not an option,it would reflect my rating for this particular branch of Express Employment Professionals. If you have not worked in five years, do not even waste your time visiting this office or providing them information. Initially, I phoned and spoke to an employee regarding a position for which I am well qualified. The employee advised me to fill out an online application followed by a submission of my resume. Having past supervisory experience, legal experience, and title experience, in addition to three college degrees, I never anticipated a problem. First of all; I was scheduled an appointment from Express Employment Professionals via email in which the sender provided an incorrect suite number. I addressed this with Mr. Ballard, office manager, and advised him that perhaps his "Professional" office staff would review emails prior to sending them? second of all I was refused a replacement form when I requested one at the office due to an error, third of all is the absolute WORST so called recruiter I have ever experienced since my decision to return to work. The recruiter -Maria Northcott, called me back and immediately picked up the telephone, thereby ignoring the fact that I was sitting in front of her. As she chatted, I waited. That being said, the following conversation took place: *Maria immediately asked me "Why are you here today?" My response - "Obviously because I am interested in returning to work" , *Next question - "Why do you want to return to work?" This was a quite intrusive and personal question! However, I appeased her and replied I have raised my children, divorced, and returned to complete another degree within the time period of unemployment", *Next question - "What kind of work are you interested in?", my response - "I emailed a resume and submitted an application yesterday, can we perhaps review them together to save us both some time?" (I had already called to confirm receipt of both) Maria was visibly offended, began speaking very fast, the irritation was evident, became increasingly difficult to understand due to her language barrier, and never bothered to review my resume or application. Bottom line is I was never once informed that this unprofessional scheduling was in fact an employment interview! Maria dismissed me as though I were a child. I asked what I may expect from them and her response was "nothing, we aren't interested in you." A follow up phone call to the office manager, Brian Ballard, netted absolutely no positive result but a response to my question "am I speaking to the office manager?" his response - "that's why I am sitting here listening to you".......WOW! How unprofessional is that? I asked if he were keeping my information on file for future openings and he replied " no, we are not even putting you into our system." Incidentally, I am not a teenager, I am not a young adult, I am a mature adult that has raised three children and recently returned to college to maintain current skills and education to make the transition of returning to the workforce easier. I am reliable, autonomous, educated, and experienced. This is not actually my loss, but a local business owner/manager would be more than happy to find someone with those qualifications. My opinion, there also exists some age discrimination at Express Employment Professionals. Apparently, I think Maria, acting the part of head honcho, has very little appreciation for education, class, and experience. She is so accustomed to talking down to those in need that she makes every attempt to push one down further. She is unaccustomed to someone above her level. She was very unprofessional in demeanor, asked personal questions, became visibly upset, and offered zero encouragement. The office manager, Mr. Brian Ballard, responded to my email stating that "I am very sorry that your experience was so negative. I have spoken with my team to help prevent these gaps in communication from occurring in the future. I hope that you are able to find gainful employment very soon." However, he offered no interest in my resume, education, or qualifications based on a twenty minute lack of communication with Maria Northcott. Nor would Mr. Ballard allude to a specific reason as to why I was not allowed to be put into their system for prospective employment. I sincerely hope all "Employment Professionals" are not as UNPROFESSIONAL as Express Employment Professionals. read more

Express was upfront with me about what I could qualify for and the realistic expectations that I should have for the market of my experience. They were dedicated and really helped me to find work again. After filling out hundreds of apps online and never actually talking to someone, Express gave me some hope. I have been in need of employment for nearly a year now. I have put in multiple applications into this office, and I never get a response. In mid 2016, I put in yet another application for a posted customer service position and I didn't hear anything from anyone. After about a week or so, I called in to inquire about my application and a female rep answered the phone and she was VERY unprofessional. No "Hello", or "Thank you for calling Express". All I got was "Express.." and then was asked to be put on hold where I waited for over 5 minutes while my phone was dying at the time. I left a 1 star rating on Google and never even got a response to that. After some time, I check back and there was a response from an apparent manager there called Kathy Tolbert asking me to email her to discuss the issue over the phone or in person. I emailed her a few weeks ago in late January, and have yet to hear back from her. Just more ignorance from this company. They claim to care about helping job seekers find employment, but yet they treat certain people like garbage. My family & I are homeless right now and in order for us to get out of this situation, I desperately need to find a job. But it will not be from this place. If you are looking for employment, you're better off looking with other staffing agencies, where you won't be treated like common trash. read more
