We were given explore SF yours by our children for Christmas last year. We had no problem scheduling the tour of our choice for the day we wanted - Mission South. We met our guide Helga Pons and had such a fun day. We popped in and out if several very good restaurants: Mission Pies, Pig and Pie, an amazing taco place, some really fresh sushi - I think we went to 6 places and a finished off with a marvelous gelato. The whole time Helga told us about the history of The Mission and showed us some beautiful and historic wall murals on Balmy. We would never have found this on our own, nor would we have understood the meanings depicted. This was a really good tour and Helga was terrific.

My husband and I enjoyed today's Original San Francisco Walking Tour with Britt as our guide. We…read morehave been to San Francisco many times over the years but still learned much about its interesting history thanks to Britt's enthusiastic and knowledgable presentation during our tour. Tidbits, such as the existence of a watering hole in the 19th century called the Fierce Grizzly (so named because it had a grizzly chained next to the door) and how today's Chinatown architecture came about after the 1906 earthquake, made our walk memorable and our time with Britt go by fast. The only (slight) disappointment came when we stopped by Caffe Trieste but didn't have time to enjoy their delicious espresso even though a coffee stop was mentioned in the tour description. We highly recommend this walking tour.

He was engaging and related the stories to us vividly so we could see and almost hear and smell the times. This tour started in front of the Ghirardelli chocolate store, so that was easy to find and very tantalizing. We got a sample of chocolate too. We walked about a mile and a half or so in and out of buildings and around courtyards. You get a great view of the Transamerica building and even learn about POPOS (privately owned public open spaces) which was the best insider tip for the tour IMO. (Note, you don't end up where you started. You're just a few blocks from where you started but ask Britt for directions and he'll set you in the right direction... or call Lyft/Uber.) San Francisco is filled with so much history that this tour is just the tip of the iceberg. But it gives you an interesting perspective of the Gold Rush times and how San Francisco and its people evolved through that time.

It was fun being tourists for the day even though we are Bay Area natives. Our tour guide was Andre and he was very knowledgeable and kept our group of 10 engaged. Not only did he explain the history behind the places we stopped by, he showed us the beauty of San Francisco. The food was great and I was stuffed by the end of the tour. From what I recall, we sampled sesame balls, dim sum, roasted duck and sautéed green beans, fortune cookies, lots of tea from a local tea shop, Italian sandwiches, cannolis, gelato, and pizza. I forgot to take pics of the food but I'll have to say my favorite was the salami sandwich from Molinari.

Since it was my daughter's first time to SF we decided to do this one. Very highly rated and reviewed on Viator which is what drove me to book. I feel like such a jerk for calling someone out but we just did not love our guide Brian. Jokes were awkward and he was hard to follow as he was sort of distracted and all over the place in his remarks. There was a lot (too much) of standing around and talking on this tour which made the 3 hours seem super long. There was also a couple of weird co marketing stops at a store and a show where we were offered discounts for purchasing from other vendors. Zero pressure and everyone was super nice but it just didn't feel authentic. Food was good but I never hit a spot where I was compelled to come back to. Guide complained about Viator, handed out business cards, educated us on how to tip him just not enjoyable.

Because seriously, this IS what you will see when you take an Urban Hike tour! I never imagined feeling like this, like I'm enamored with San Francisco, seriously doing this hike took my love for San Francisco to another level! For all you beginner hikers, get ready! You're in for a joyful ride (or should I say walk) LOL! If I had to rate this hike, it would be easy to moderate. In the beginning, you are going to sweat...after you pass Twin Peaks, the rest is totally easy! Trust me; you will learn A LOT about San Francisco that you didn't know. Even for all of you old timers that have been living in SF for "years"...Yes, you will learn a lot as well! Urban hike gets you really acquainted with the City, taking it to a whole new level. This tour guarantees beautiful views of the City. Get ready, because you'll be treated to the lovely views looking from Twins Peak, roam through the hidden landmarks and staircases such as Pembleton Street, Tank Hill, Sutro, through a hidden forest trail; OMG, the views everywhere you go are so dreamlike. Did I mention we even spotted goats?! PRICELESS! I was able to do this hike on one of San Francisco's most beautiful days. The views were clear and the weather was perfect! My tour guide was awesome and the people I was with made the hike 10x better! So, go ahead....Open up that Groupon app (dammit, download it if you have to!) But you seriously need to hurry up and book this tour! You will be blown away by how much of a great time you will have! (Just make sure you thank me later (smiles).

Let me help you out; instead of cryptic and inaccurate written directions just plug this into Google Maps: 37°21'51.6"N 122°10'37.3"W https://maps.app.goo.gl/VJx6FYUZNqcBu5177 Done. No questions, no geocaching hunt to find the meeting spot with zero service. Great website, so-so experience. In summary I don't feel it is worth the $87. I've participated in free foraging events that were equivalent and in some ways better than this one. If you are a beginner who knows absolutely nothing about foraging, this might be a good one to go to. A bit misleading to say "suitable for novice and veteran foragers alike." I learned a few new things but nothing justifying the time spent driving to the location and paying the $$$. I like the mission of this project but was expecting a bit more. Best of luck to the forageSF team.
