I really liked my instructor, and I'm kicking myself now that I CAN'T remember his name (I swear this is a reflection on me, because I am AWFUL with names). The classes are very fun and the hours zoom by. If you're a bit competitive like me though, sometimes you forget that everyone is there to learn and have fun ;) Anyway, we were divided into two groups that generally stayed together for the entire duration of lessons. For the earlier sessions there is a lot of emphasis on safety and practicing technique, but for the later sessions you can expect to be shooting for the majority of the time on the floor. There's naturally a bit of standing around because you have to take turns with the target board, but I actually enjoy that with team sports because you get to know your teammates. My fellow coursemates were lovely, and we all got on well enough that we planned to join the club together and shoot more in the future. You have to attend pretty much every class to get the intro certification in order to join the club. That seems fair though -- when people are shooting pointy things at high speeds, you want to make sure that everyone knows what they're doing, at some basic level at least! I haven't been to the London Bridge range yet but one of these days, I will get my butt down there...

I was invited by Love Popups London to attend a taster archery session at Archery Fit in Greenwich…read morein return for a blog post, so I headed down south after work to give this one a go! The waiting area is nice and airy, with lockers for your possessions, a plethora of bean bags to lounge on, free coffee and tea, and a large selection of magazines and comic books! So if you're early or waiting for friends, you definitely won't be bored. We were first introduced to the different kinds of bows available to train on, how they work, and what they're used for. We would all be practicing on the recurve bow to begin with. We were outfitted with arm guards and had our arms measured to have the correct bow and arrows assigned. The lovely Kristina led our session, finding the perfect bow for each of us, leading a short warm-up, and of course showing us techniques and tricks so we'd hit the target! Not every shot was a hit, but we all had a tremendous amount of fun trying to learn to aim, we even got to try popping balloons that were attached to the targets and super satisfying to shoot! The tasting session at Archery Fit was an incredible amount of fun and a brilliant group or corporate activity for small and large groups. I absolutely recommend booking yourself in if you'd like to try your hand at archery, or go for a full beginners course of six 90 minute lessons!

As a head teacher I went to Campaign to inspect on the recommendation of another school for an end…read moreof term activity. I have little experience of what to look for at a Paintball site apart from Health and Safety and whether the punters were enjoying themselves. On arrival I was greeted by two staff with a friendly wave and taken to meet the owners. Fortunately, there were several schools arriving as well as groups of adults. It appears Campaign has been owned by the same guys for over 20 yearsthe site is vast and what I saw totally reassured me. Interestingly, the first school to be briefed was a school that I knew really well having worked there many years ago so I was able to speak to the pupils and teachers as the morning went on. They liked the equipment, the variety of themed areas and the banter of the marshals. Some games were extremely tactical and serious stuff. It was obvious the adrenalin was flowing and every pupil I spoke to was fully engaged and loving it. Lunch was also provided in the price. Most groups I spoke to had been before, and this backed up what the owners said about repeat business and making the experience bespoke for 'their customers'. In conclusion a well run operation, clear instructions, heavy focus on safety (I was given a briefing and had to wear the goggles, protective gear on the range even at lunchtime) and what seems like new equipment. I intend to take a large group of dads (and daughters) to Campaign very soon.

Excellent place for a day out…read more I have been to Campaign three times now. I had such a blast on my 21st birthday many moons ago that I arranged an outing for work. Last saturday I dutifully arranged my best mate Jon's stag party. Really pleased to say we weren't let down by Campaign.. These guys certainly take a lot of care in what they do and I can't praise them highly enough. Thanks again.

I live a good swim. And here at the Kentish Town Pool I get to have a good swim in a beautiful…read moreenvironment. The main pool here is one of the Victorian-era swimming pools and it's really quite magnificent to swim in it...especially when at certain times of the day the sun hits the water just right. I use the Better Health App to sign up for a swim. I avoid the busy times - early mornings and evenings - and so most of the times I share the lane only with a few other folks.
