The gentleman was not originally (technically) rude but was not really listening to anything I was saying as I would tell him: "No thank you." as I was trying to browse his 8-10 box humidor as best I could. Virtually every cigar I was inspecting was either rock hard or mushy in various spots. None of these signs point to cigars that are properly cared for. I did not see any type of humidification and the temperature and space was basically that of a closet with the door wide open. When I asked what he was using to humidify these cigars he told me they don't need it... O_o He then tried to explain to me that a Cohiba Red Dot was a Cuban cigar... I asked him: "Do you know anything about cigars?" He responded: "Not really." He was only going on what he's been told. I took a moment to explain and he seemed receptive but when he tried to sell me those cigars again --- $20 a stick for Cohiba Red Dot...hard as rocks mind you. He got irritated with me when I said no thank you and I just politely took my leave. This is not a place to buy cigars.

They had a decent selection at decent prices. Most everything was under $15 with a few sticks closer to the $20 range. Here are the problems. Cigar lovers don't necessarily need to run into a cigar shop in the middle of the night for a smoke. The whole process is a ritual. While this place is open late in the evening I can either pull a cigar from my humidor to smoke while I stroll through town or I can wait. There are a couple of lounges open in the late evening in the city too, I can always go there. Having cigars in a shop like this feels like an attempt at selling to an audience that may not be able to discern good from bad cigars or well curated and kept cigars. So why is this important to mention...One of the cigars I smoked that I picked up from this location I placed in my humidor for roughly 24 hours before smoking. That was probably not enough time to give it to rest. Most cigar smokers do not trust the humidors where any cigar they buy is stored. Sure, we'll buy something and smoke it but often times we'll want to rest those cigars in our own private humidor where you know the exact conditions, temperature, and humidity. Sometimes this helps bring cigars that are a bit dry back to life or overly humidified back into balance. The cigars I picked up from this humidor were overly dry. To the point, the wrapper was cracking and not possible to save. I thought I could save it. But unfortunately, it did not work. In a normal tobacconist lounge, they would happily replace your stick. Because that is their profession and craft. This is essentially an artisans product, not a pack of marlboro's and this store, regardless of how nice these guys were is a retail store not unlike a simple bodega. The issue that was a bit odd was that whenever another customer walked in that he had to attend he would lock the cabinet and tell me he'll be back. He wasn't rude about it. It was just not odd. This was the Upper West Side...Crime is not really a thing up here...So it was irritating to have to wait while he handled others. There were a few annoyingly entitled young women who walked in making a lot of noise, somewhat drunk who barraged through the store. He had to deal with them first while he was charging me. Instead of politely having them wait while he finished his transaction with me. While the prices here are really good and there is an interesting selection of cigars I am not certain they are caring for them properly in their cabinet. The staff were nice and open to suggestion. This is where my rating comes into play as a 2. It is an ok location. I'll try buying a few more regular daily driver type cigars here and let them rest for a few days to balance out temp and humidity. If those smokes turn out to be fine I'll update and recommend more heavily. I can't speak specifically about the other products they have but they did have a decent inventory of vape and head shop items. If the current cigar resting and any future cigars I grab don't really pan out, I'll know that this is definitely not a place to ever buy cigars and will update my review as such.

They had a great selection and we sat in to smoke them. The manager was very friendly and helped us cut our cigars. The ambiance in the shop made you forget that you were in the city. It felt relaxing and everyone inside was so nice. We're from philly and are used to people ignoring each other. But as some of the guests left they all stopped by and said good bye to us. They also serve a nice espresso and sparkling water that paired well with the cigar. Staff is efficient. Nice area to come for a walk in, and then end the evening with a cigar.
