I got my first tattoo here with Bob. It is perfect and he was so professional! I decided to come back and get one on my rib. Super clean shop, great artist and will definitely be back.

I already posted this review, but then I noticed that the reviews were for the old address. I thought it in everyone's best interest to re-post with the correct address. This place has an intoxicating aroma of antiseptic that puts you at ease. I was selling a turntable to someone at a different tattoo shop, and when I walked in I was punched in the face with the stink of incense. What's that all about? I want it to smell like someone just cleaned up after a murder. Like some methodical serial killer who uses industrial chemicals to eradicate any trace of blood sweat or tears is on their payroll as their cleaning person. Mission accomplished. I also love the fact that when you walk in you're greeted immediately with a friendly hello. I've been to too many shops where the employees are too busy with a magazine to even look up when you walk in. These places can be intimidating for a lot of people, and the last thing someone who is getting their first tattoo needs is to feel like they don't belong there. (Mercy Seat, A-1, I'm looking in your direction.) At his old shop Danny used to play the oldies station throughout the waiting area, which I always liked. I can't remember if they do that at the new location. Danny is pretty well known around town as one of the best, but the other two artists here are pretty great too. I checked out their portfolios online and was impressed. I've been going to Danny for about six years now, and my oldest stuff by him still looks great. He is a friendly guy and constantly asks how I'm doing, and if he sees that I'm hurting, if he's on a spot known for its sensitivity, he'll apologize. I mention this because when I was getting my stomach tattooed at another shop, and I asked for a break, the guy got all pissy, and made me feel like a total puss. The new shop can be hard to find a decent parking spot, but the new neighborhood is so much better that it doesn't matter. Due to his ever growing reputation, there is a wait to get in with him. I usually call and make an appointment to talk to him, then I make another appointment to get the actual work done. He does keep blocks of time set aside for walkins though, as do all the people, I just find it easier to book ahead. I've heard a lot of people complain about this, but come on, you're going to have that for the rest of your life. Do you want to get it immediately, and risk getting a shitty tattoo, or do you want it to look good? I refer people to this shop all the time. And will continue to do so.

Exile Tattoo is a great place for tattoos. My daughter, girlfriend, her mom and myself have all got ink here from Bob Rodriguez. Location is great plenty of food and coffee nearby to choose from.

Had the best experience here tonight! Everyone was super friendly, knowledgable and personable. The shop was very clean. Kori did an amazing Jon on my arm piece tonight. I will continue coming to her here for all of my work.

i found the other listing for the old address and left a review there too but this is the new location. i have a few tattoos that could be better so i am way picky now that im a bit older and i did a ton of research and found this place. Jessie is amazing, and i love all her work!!!!!!!! she did a piece on my forearm and it came out great. i cant say enough good things, you need to go here!!!

Getting a tattoo at Exile is a great experience. I went in for my first tattoo ever and Cory was awesome! She walked me through the whole process and was honest that my choice of placement was tricky but she didn't completely shut me down. She suggested some edits to make the tattoo more successful and I love the results! It's still healing so I'll post a better pic after a fe

I was directed to the website where it was easy to arrange an appointment, and that appointment happened to be with the owner of the establishment. Once I got there for my appointment, I was in awe of the interior decor as well, which was really nicely decorated and had a very cool indoor plant garden, of sorts. I was greeted very professionally, and then was shown all the options available for my dermal piercing, which was fantastic! I didn't realize I would be given such a massive selection to choose from, which got me really giggity lol. It took me a few minutes, but I made my selection and then proceeded to wait in the lobby until I was called. It was there that I became more in awe- especially after seeing his pressed penny machine. I have literally never walked by a pressed penny machine without choosing to partake, so that was RAAAAD! Now, I don't want to think about my age hahaaa but it's been at least 20 years since my last piercing. Clay was VERY thorough in letting me know all the details about THIS type of piercing, which I didn't previously know. Apparently- dermals WILL eventually work their way out, which didn't make me change my mind- but can certainly sway others against it. He stressed that it was only a matter of time, but I am grateful for knowing this so I don't need to freak tf out when the time comes hahaaa. Aside from that- this dude had an amazing personality-very caring and communicated well all thru the process. I don't plan on ever going anywhere else for a piercing or body jewelry, as I am HOOKED!

The #1 tattoo shop in Kansas City. Hands down. Has won tons of awards and all the artists are all…read moreincredibly skilled! As I just said, you cannot go wrong with any of the artists here; however, the two that I go to are Bob Bitner, a master, and Wes Durham, the current apprentice. Both guys have done amazing work and I will continue to recommend both of them as well as the shop as a whole! I will briefly summarize how the process works for those of you that are unaware. Catalyst really only works on appointment only. Unless you want work done by one of their two apprentices you will likely have to put your name on a year long wait list to get an appointment with one of the master artists and likely will also need to give them a down payment-this is so people don't back out all the time. The next step is usually to go have a consultation with your artist that you choose. During this consultation, you and your artist will discuss the type of artwork that you like and want on your body for the rest of your life (lol) and then either he or she will work on some drafts to show you to see if you like them. Most recently, Catalyst was located out in the cuts of Independence, MO off 291 Hwy; however, they recently moved down into the Crossroads! I had my forearm sleeve recently completed by Wes D. at the old Independence shop. I do have an appointment in January of 2019 with Bob B. to finish the rest of my sleeve! This shop prides itself of professionalism, cleanliness, and unique work & artistry. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for when you purchase a tattoo. In my opinion, this will be with you for the rest of your life so you might as well have it done by the best tattoo artists possible!!

I have no choice but to live as a badass in order to not disappoint the tattoo itself. Thank you Devon for raising me to the highest possible level. I originally was thinking about a tiny black dragon and imagine how lame I'd have to be if I'd gone with that? Now I can have a full life. Devon, Luke, and John were a lot of fun to spend hours and hours with and are incredibly talented folks. I miss them so I guess I'll need to start saving up for more ink. Below are some of my favorite things about Headless Hands and my experiences there. In no certain order, I appreciated the following: 1. Not getting food poisoning from Hawaiian Bros. It was close. 2. The preserved bats are my favorite of the oddities. 3. THE SINK!!! It's the best sink I've ever seen in my entire life. Please try it and comment below with your rating. 4. The opportunity to practice karate in a wide open space with an audience. Fantastic. 5. Podcast recommendations were legit and fun. 6. The chance to see a severed cat head. With a bow! Checked that off my bucket list. 7. A hairy cactus that looks like a tiny penis. Absolutely delightful. 8. Comfortable seating. 9. The opportunity to summon a demon via a ouija board. 10. The joy of listening to traumatic life tales. Cannot be understated. 11. Expert level sarcasm. My tattoo experience really leveled up my sarcasm detection and despensing skills and that will, like my tattoo, benefit my entire existence. 12. A gong. Really nice gong. I recommends gonging it. Do yourself a favor and connect with a true artist for your next ink. I highly recommend Devon and would consider giving him my firstborn.
