Our extended family comes on a week long fishing trip to Spirit Lake for the past 10 summers. Those of us who prefer other entertainment options went searching for places to visit. We came upon Exhile Gaming 10 years ago and make the trip at least twice each time we visit. Maria is the owner and always working. She is friendly, knowledgeable and will help you find anything you're looking for. We make a purchase every year to help her store and there aren't many gems like this around anymore. My Son returned to Exile during our annual summer Iowa Great Lakes visit. He stopped by twice for long visits, leaving Dad to wander around the area elsewhere. He felt a certain comfort here, and I was happy to let him have all the time he needed here. When I moved to Iowa from the Twin Cities I was pretty depressed to find out that the nearest store where I could buy Magic the Gathering stuff other than Walmart was over an hour away. Then I found out about Exile. I've been going there since it's original incarnation. It's a very friendly atmosphere. Their prices on Magic singles are very fair and I have never been disappointed with a card purchase from there. I prefer to support local when it's fair and friendly. These guys have my whole-hearted support. Their selection is OK, if a bit disorganized (but half of the fun is flipping through cards anyway). If they don't have something on hand, they may know someone who has it and are willing to call and arrange a trade for you. All-in-all, I love this place and would spend entirely too much time and money there if my work schedule and proximity allowed. read more

Exile Gaming is a great gaming store, think game stop but better. The owner is extremely knowledgeable ans she spends the extra time to make sure that her customers leave satisfied and happy. I enjoy the store not only for the great prices on video games, but also because they carry magic the gathering cards there as well. It's also a great place to meet other people who you may never have known play magic the gathering and play a few games at the tables they have set up. I will definitely keep going to Exile for games and to play cards with other people. read more
