Best kept secret for cheap travel from Dulles Airport to downtown DC…read more I was searching through websites for the best way to get to downtown DC from Dulles Airport. Everything seemed pretty expensive or a very long bus route with at least one change required. Then, the clouds of despair lifted and I saw a sign for The Silver Line Express. This bus takes you to the Silver Line Metro - Wiehle-Reston East Station. You can take this metro to downtown DC. What surprised me is this this option did not come up in Google Maps. Shame on you Google. May the jet lag of a thousand weary plane travelers infest your armpits (sorry, I'm too tired to think of a better curse). The last time I used this service in DC was back in early 2020. I hope someone provides an update.

It's cost you 5 dollars, to be paid at arrival. Calculate some queuing into your schedule when travelling. Ohh, it was cash only when I arrived. Don't know if the terminal was down, or they are a cash only business. They offer free Wifi on the bus, and I was surprisingly able to stream good quality Netflix. I don't know why I did load that app though, as the bus only took 10 minutes to the airport. Buses are fairly new and clean, and have designated areas for stowing luggage. I arrived just outside the terminal building, ready to check in.

We sprang into action as soon as we found out our car wouldn't be ready for a couple days. First, I google mapped local taxis and budget shuttle came up first. They were so professional and came and got me right away. In the middle of rush hour they arrived within 45 minutes of my call. We rented a car at Dulles airport and were on the road in an hour and a half. I highly recommend this service. They're courteous, professional and efficient.

At first I was hesitant, expecting an exorbitant price, but I soon found out it was comparable to your standard taxi. Kamal (the driver) has been running his sedan service for years and was highly recommended by the hotel. He was very courteous, punctual, and most importantly, he accepted credit cards. The drive was a million times smoother and more relaxing than your typical taxi ordeal. Kamal is a very sharp man who's able to chat about a wide array of subjects or leave you be if you prefer to rest. Light classical music played the entire way to the airport. I wish I had found out about him last year because he would have saved me from the pain of many shitty cab rides. As long as I'm traveling to the DC area I will be using his services.
