Excellent custom cabinets…read more I just had Alberto (El Capitan) and his son build and install custom cabinets for my house remodel in Solvang. This is a high-end house and I needed truly custom high-end cabinets, but at a reasonable cost. As part of my search, I found a few high-end builders that wanted exorbitant rates to support their showroom and sales overhead as well as low-end builders who didn't want to deal with dovetailed drawers or inset doors. But mostly, I wanted to deal directly with the woodworker/fabricator not some intermediary who would confuse things. Alberto and Beto have been doing this for quite a long time and are quite familiar with high-end installations. In addition to being master cabinet builders, they are also general contractors and finish carpenters. The quality of the work is excellent and they spend the time to install it perfectly--and yes, they kicked me out of the room because I thought they were fussing too much. (I am a finicky retired engineer and reformed woodworker who has built and installed many cabinets myself... so I know quality when I see it.) The price is fair, neither cheap, nor exorbitant... about what you expect for professional work. The aesthetic sense is right on, no need to specify every little detail, Alberto knows what look you are going for and how to make it work. The timing... will take a little longer than you think. El Capitan spends the time to get all the details right, so yes, it will take longer. But most importantly, he will not cut corners. He uses top-of the line hardware and if he thinks the vanity needs 9 drawers, he will get 9 drawers, even though it will cost him more. (And his finisher does an amazing job with lacquer!) All in all, I am very satisfied and would not hesitate to recommend Puita's Custom Cabinetry.
