Despite decades of dental visits every three months, not a single dentist or hygienist ever suggested there might be a real fix for the problem. I was originally referred to Gulf Coast Periodontics & Implants because of a pocket that had developed under the gums at the rear of my mouth. The staff recommended a scaling procedure for that area. It required Novocain and was much more intense than a standard cleaning, but the results were amazing. My mouth had never felt so clean, and the hygienist's skill impressed me so much that I actually started flossing regularly for the first time. Even more remarkable was Dr. Sweidan's observation of my receding gum line at the front. To my surprise, he told me it could be corrected with a graft--something I had resigned myself to living with for life. I went forward with the procedure, and while the two weeks of recovery required some adjustments with eating and cleaning, the results were absolutely worth it. A month later, my mouth feels healthy and strong, and I could not be happier with the outcome. From start to finish--front desk, billing, hygienists, and Dr. Sweidan himself--everyone I encountered at Gulf Coast Periodontics & Implants went above and beyond. My dental insurance only covered a small portion, but honestly, even if I had paid the full cost out of pocket, it would have been worth every penny. I am truly astounded that after decades of cleanings and consultations, no one had ever mentioned that my issue had a solution until now. She's so down to earth, caring, wants to make sure you are okay and will even provide a blanket if you're cold. Dr. Jennifer Hughes and our hygienist, Debbie were both very friendly and professional. A "comprehensive oral exam" was $73 not including x-rays. Because of several cavities (which were only apparent on the x-rays), I came back to get them filled and had no problems. I was a little skeptical because I couldn't see one or two of the cavities (even on the x-rays she showed me), but the cavities were very small. I guess I should leave that to the professionals! They said my husband had no cavities so I trusted them that mine were real. I thought it was a little odd that they didn't use a panoramic x-ray like my old dentist. I didn't see the machine there so I am not sure if they don't have one or if they just prefer other types of x-rays. Instead they used bitewing x-rays (which were fully covered by my insurance) and periapical x-rays (that were not fully covered by my insurance). I kind of wish they would've told me that before they started snapping away at some special problem teeth that me and my husband had. They were very good about showing me the x-rays on the monitors and explaining to me how they interpret them. Their office is very clean and bright and they layout of the exam rooms is very open.

I had a cavity and I was also told I had a filling that was not sitting right. Tried to make an…read moreappointment for both of them to be fixed and I was told I had to make two separate appointments for both. But the receptionist wouldn't let me make both appointments. I was told after I came in to get my cavity fixed, then I could make the next appointment. When I showed up for my appointment for the cavity, was in the waiting room for about 30 minutes. I was brought back and waited about another 30 minutes to get numbed up. I was told the dentist would be with me shortly. It was about 40 minutes and I finally got up and was looking around for anyone to talk to. I found an assistant on her phone in the room next to me and asked her when the dentist would be in to start the work and she said "honey, I don't know" in a condescending tone. She got up and walked away and a minute later the dentist walked in and I heard her under her breath say "alright you twisted my arm". The dental work took less than 5 minutes. I understand if a business is understaffed, things are difficult. But please don't overbook if you won't be able to service your patients in a timely manner. I won't be returning for anymore services unfortunately.
