I tried a couple other schools in Manhattan before I decide but none of their "advanced" class was advanced enough for me. (I was in the break of my collage in Boston and my English level wasn't too low) This school has a great range of levels, many activities and if you have some trouble and want to speak in your language, they have advisers in many languages too which is a good option to have. Including teachers, they are all friendly and it was comfortable enough for me to stay long. I was in the highest class all the time but I saw many low level students (who couldn't speak AT ALL) became better speakers and enjoyed their stay in NY. I as an advanced student learned a lot and improved English in many ways which I was honestly not expected much from a language school. I would like to come back anytime if there is another chance!!

I took pronunciation for five months then transfer to academic class. Second, teachers are really nice, if you have questions just ask, don't be afraid. They are really nice. Third, school activities . Every week almost everyday has activity, you can join it then you will make new friends, also practice speaking. Last one school stuffs also really nice, if you have questions about programs ,ask them. They will give you the advice. This all my experience in Manhattan school. Enjoy your life in NYC and Manhattan school.:))

Coucou is not your ordinary language school, and I've taken over ten language classes with Berges,…read moreItalki, and ABC Languages. At Coucou, you specialize in French and become part of the broader francophone community - something I truly missed when I could not travel during the pandemic. I started online classes about six months ago (and have taken Level 4 - Intermédiaire and Level 5 - Confirmé) and was impressed with the modern feel of the resources. The classes included workshops and booklets and were amazingly cost-effective, with attention to detail and preparation. I received a lot of support and encouragement from my teacher, who would give me great feedback and correct my mistakes on the spot. Further, I felt I could express myself and ask as many questions as possible. Now, I have a great foundation to express myself properly en français. While the courses (Levels 1 - 5) are primarily grammatical and learning the foundation to speak, the teachers take the time to understand your interests and goals to help you review and perfect your ongoing journey dans le monde de la conversation française! Further, the teachers encourage you to talk during the class exercises constantly, so you are always thinking and conversing in French. My teacher has made it so that I look forward to my evening classes all week, and I have learned more from her in our lessons than I did from 1 year of high school French and six months of self-study. I also plan on leveling up to Level 6 - Spécialiste, where I plan to enter the world of real French conversation.

took Coucou's online placement test and was placed into an intermediate-level class. Unfortunately,…read morethe placement was not accurate. There was no real evaluation, just an online quiz, and when I arrived in the class, I quickly realized after a few sessions that it didn't match my needs at all. The class was pure conversation with no grammar explanations, no structure, and no rules, which made me feel completely lost. I actually needed more grammar-focused support, not just conversation. When I tried to switch levels, I wasn't offered a proper solution. Instead, I was only given about 70% credit for my remaining classes, with a two-month expiration. I couldn't use it because I was traveling, and their response time was slow, so the credit essentially became useless. Overall, I was disappointed with how the placement was handled and how inflexible the school was in helping me find the right level. I expected a more supportive and structured experience.

I took an advanced intermediate 10-week French course with JP, and it was a great learning opportunity. Whenever I learn a new language, my biggest fear is to actually speak the language because I am afraid that my counterpart wouldn't understand me, and if he/she doesn't, I wouldn't know how else to explain my ideas without speaking English. Not only is JP very approachable and friendly, but JP is also a very professionally qualified instructor (as he also teaches some French classes at NYU) and can immediately detect what you are trying to say and offers you with better ways (i.e. how natives would say) to express your ideas. JP sincerely wants to get to know everyone as much as he can and follows up with you so that he can be of help if you intend to continue to improve your language skills. My job requires lots of hours in winter, so I couldn't register for classes, but I will definitely be looking in spring if I could fit a class in my schedule.
