I had a color, cut & blow dry with Sylvia today and she did an amazing job! I wanted my color blue black with a straight bob cut, and I'm super happy with how it came out. The color is a perfect deep blue black, super dark just how I wanted it & she also cut my hair exactly as I described to her. She was very sweet and I will definitely be going back to her next month. And they do it again... Ana's great at staying at the length you request to cut your hair to. I went pretty drastic (at least in my eyes) and cut off about 4-5 inches of my hair. I marked the spot where I wanted my new length to be at, and she kept it there; nothing shorter, nothing longer. Every time I come here, everyone's been really nice, very courteous, and very professional, so reading these few negative comments given to them, kind of irks me. The staff at Excellent Salon really go out of their way to make sure the patrons know what is getting done to them, what they can AND cannot do to their hair, and they give tips on how to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy. I came here to see Lupe, after seeing her work in IG. I came in as a brunette with lightly lifted hair from a job I had 1 year ago. I asked for a slight baliage framed at the face but wanted my base to remain dark with slight touches of blonde tone. I walked out so disappointed. The "rooty" look I asked for left me looking like I haven't gotten my roots done in 3 months, I have a line of demarcation (no blending) not to mention my hair's under stone has orange, yellow and green from the ash. She Completely died my hair shaft. I have dark roots with greenish, orange hair with no dimension in it. I'm so upset and not satisfied. $200 to the trash. My daughter came in to have black box dye lifted to be able to go "lighter" well let me say next day her hair fell apart and felt like gum when water was applied to it!!! We had to go to another salon to see what could be done to stop it from breaking further up to the scalp. When we told the girl who worked on her hair that my daughter would like a refund to cover the cost of the salon visit and future treatments needed - her hair was burned/fried from high volume developer and high volume developer used in the actual dye applied after the "bleaching " so that her hair has now lost all elasticity and can't even have a regular combing or washing...... she basically told her that she was a liar that hair as bad as she claims it is would have been breaking apart right then ....this is a total lie as anyone with any brains know chemicals do cause this. Lupe Tello was the one who worked on her hair and is a complete incompetent hair stylist who should not even touch household bleach to clean a toilet let alone put chemicals on someone's hair!!!! Stay away from this place.....after researching their licenses etc i discovered they are on probation for disciplinary action from the board of barbering and cosmetology!!! I am seeking to put in another formal complaint as well as a lawsuit!!! It's a solid little latin salon in the LA-area. It's best if you bring them a picture of what you'd like them to do with your hair, they'll be honest and let you know whether they can do it or not (some up-dos require long hair, or thick hair, etc.) If they can't do exactly what you've shown them, they'll have a good idea of what it is you want and will work with you to make sure your hair looks great! I've had my hair done here 3 times for 3 different weddings, and every time my hairdo has lasted from when I got it done in the AM until the shindig ends late PM. A lot of hairspray and bobbypins do the trick, I think, but I'm impressed because I've got stubbornly straight hair, and whatever they did when they curled it lasted. Price also seems reasonable to me, $45 for an updo is what I've paid, although my aunts have paid more because they've got tons more hair (like, past waist length). I know they also do haircuts and coloring, and their prices seem fair for the skills they've got here. A lot less than what I'd pay in the Bay, at the very least. Bottom line: Decently priced updos that easily last from sunup to sundown. If they weren't in LA, I'd frequent them more often. read more

I've been here once and i was not happy a friend recommended me Aurelia I was not happy with the highlight on top of my hair they were to thick and they look green I called to see if they could fix it just the top and she was charging me $50 I told her it was something that needed to be fix then brought it down to $30. Again the highlights looked green and charging me to fix them when I went the day before I would understand if I waited 2 to 3 weeks then yes I understand the charge. then after her dyeing my hair she did ask how short I wanted to cut it and I showed she up to my lower back she when she was done with my hair was to my mid back before cutting it it was down to my mid butt my heart fell when I saw how short it was never again. Came here for a blowdry. I told the stylist I'm on a time crunch and need a quick blowdry nothing special. She didn't dry the hair a little before blow drying and she started to dry it on my WET hair. She would keep going over done sections even after I said don't because I'm in a rush. She tells me my a hair is too yellow? Firstly it's not "too yellow" and if it is maybe that's how I like it. Then she tells me that my ends are dry? i went to "excellent salon" for a haircut. i was disappointed with their lack of professionalism and overall service. i was in there and witnessed probably, not sure if it was the owner or salon manager , but she was so rude to a customer that it changed my impression and opinion of the salon. the customer after she got her hair done, mentioned that her hi-lites were not done right. an argument broke out. i heard the women say can you fix it? i thought this was common to ask if they could fix a hair color problem. the manager or owner stated , " there was nothing wrong with the hair." it was clear to me the customer is not always right and her request was ignored and even led to an insult where the manager stated, "get the f**k out of the business. this was absolutely unprofessional and unprovoked. i was even scared to say anything myself. i don't think customers should ever be called out like this. she should of never yelled at the lady and after the customer left, the manager should not have talked bad about the customer left the store. i will never come back here again. as a male customer, i have many other choices to go to. i will never have my wife come here. after i left i felt terrible for the lady who left the salon very upset. it was clear she did get what she paid for! customers do not need to be insulted by anybody let alone a store manager or owner. terrible customer service. read more

I went on yelp looking for a last minute hair salon and found this one. Came in a bit nervous because my hair seemed like a challenge with different shades of purple. I told them what I had in mind but they recommended a healthier suggestion for my hair. I like how they knew exactly how to treat my hair and what was best for it. I came out with beautiful hair!
