Very Concerning Experience - Lack of Care and Respect…read more My family has had a deeply concerning experience with Maison de Lafayette that raises serious questions about patient care, communication, and basic standards. We already had a pressure-relief mattress topper prior to admission and requested from day one that it be used. Despite repeated requests throughout early December, there were ongoing delays, poor communication, and lack of follow-through. The resident had no bed sores prior to entering this facility, and bed sores developed while in their care, which is extremely concerning. The mattress topper is still not on there. They are blaming maintenance but medical orders were given. Dietary care has been unacceptable. The resident has been on a renal diet for years, which is clearly documented in her chart, yet meals provided were not appropriate for renal or diabetic needs and were often high in salt. On one occasion, after returning from dialysis, the resident was given only a dry bologna sandwich with no water, which is completely inadequate. Basic daily care has also been lacking. The resident was not being changed into clean clothes regularly, affecting comfort and dignity. Additionally, colostomy care was not performed properly, with the flange not being changed as required, increasing the risk of skin irritation and infection. There were also serious concerns with respiratory care. The resident's CPAP machine was not applied until 11:49 PM and many nights not at all, despite being required overnight, even though the patient is very alert and aware. This delay raises concerns regarding safety and adherence to prescribed treatment. Most troubling was an interaction with LPN Sonny P., who spoke to family members in a condescending and dismissive manner when we asked reasonable questions about the mattress topper. Families advocating for medically necessary care should never be treated this way. Additionally, we requested to speak with the Director of Nursing and the Nursing Facility Administrator at 4:30 PM and asked for a phone call within 20 minutes, but as of 6:00 PM, we have yet to receive a response, which demonstrates a lack of accountability and communication from leadership. Overall, this facility demonstrated poor follow-through, inadequate care, and unprofessional communication at both the staff and leadership levels. Families should proceed with caution and be prepared to advocate strongly for their loved ones.

The care and rehab department was high quality. The facility is beautiful and smell free which is very rare these days. Everyday that I visited my mother I was greeted with a smile and a hello. I would "HIGHLY" recommend Maison de Lafayette for rehab or for permanent placement for a love one. Thank you Maison de Lafayette for a wonderful experience.

I was fortunate enough that my mother knew Alisha Jarreau, owner of the newly-opened "The Therapy…read moreCenter For Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness" in New Roads. Why? Because I'd just started to recover from cervical surgery after enduring my fair share of upper back pain/pinched nerve pain for the past 8 years. Alisha agreed to take me on as a patient (in fact, one of her first) and away we went! . Now let me preface my review of the practice with this: when I began, Alisha was still in the process of finishing her commercial space (carpet, electrical, et. al.) Normally, most business owners would appreciate your business, remind you of their opening date, and you (the patient) would make-do until this time. But Alisha is not your normal business owner or physical therapist. Instead of the above scenario, Alisha scheduled me immediately for my first appointment....located at her home!!! I spent the better part of the first 2 months of my therapy driving to Alisha's house 2-3 times a week. She & her husband Jason had worked diligently to transform one of their spare bedrooms into a warm & welcoming space for me to begin my lengthy journey back to good health. In addition to supplying me with coffee (yay!) at every visit, Alisha never lost focus. A lot of folks who run any type of business at their homes will often put the customer on the back-burner occasionally in order to answer the phone/answer the door/do other things that people do when they're at their house. Not Alisha! She was constantly focused & ever-present as I worked my way through the exercise/stretching regimen that she'd set forth for me. I cannot stress enough how important this was in terms of creating a first impression with me. I have been a regular at physical therapy groups for the past 8 years; even the best of those couldn't compare with how quickly Alisha made me feel that my well-being was her utmost priority. Other than the location, nothing changed when Alisha moved into her commercial space on Hospital Road. Ans what a space it is! My mother (who attended The Therapy Center's grand opening/open-house) mentioned how warm & inviting the space was and what a great eye for detail Alisha had. Having spent the latter half of my course of physical therapy at this new space, I couldn't agree more. Warm tones, a sensibility in layout, and cleanliness rule the day at The Physical Therapy Center. Current (and future) patients will no doubt give the space high marks! Here, Alisha was finally in her element. She doubled her efforts with my rehab and really pushed me to challenge myself to learn what was possible in my post-surgical recovery. There were times when I felt like complaining, sure...this will happen with extended periods of physical therapy. But I could never muster anything other than a faux-whine followed shortly by laughter. No matter how hard Alisha pushed me & my body felt like resisting, she always had a smile & was always encouraging. The mark of a really great physical therapist is that you absolutely do no want to let them down or disappoint them with your effort. In that regard, Alisha is a cut above the rest: if I ever felt like slacking off, I'd feel a tinge of guilt because I knew that she was committed to my health 110%!!! I could, literally, go on & on about Alisha & The Therapy Center. The individual attention, the atmosphere (water, coffee,...even a TV that Alisha will let you change the channel on!), the conversation (important to know that your PT is human sometimes), the expediency in appointment times (Alisha does have a waiting room; you won't be there for long, if at all!). All of those things, all of what I've described above, and so much more....that's The Therapy Center in New Roads! Take it from a veteran of physical therapy: you will not be disappointed if you allow yourself the priveledge of being under the care of Mrs. Alisha Jarreau. She's one-of-a-kind and runs one of the best businesses in all of Pointe Coupee parish!!!

This facility is the only one in Louisiana where they actually care about the person/client and…read morethey are not a number or $ sign. Most rehab's want to over prescribe an addict in recovery so they can bill their insurance an obscene amount money. Of course an addict will show signs of some mental health disorders (like bi-polar, depression,....) because their emotions are always up and down from the drugs and dealing with the situations that their addiction has caused in their life (like losing their job, home, upset relationships with their family,....). Once they detox off the alcohol and/or drugs and start to work on themselves and the reasons why they use they start to balance out and not show signs of mental health disorders anymore. Prescribing medicine that is not needed can negatively affect someone's health and their journey of recovery. The Hope Center DOES NOT DO THAT. Their clients are not dollar signs and become part of a family and huge support system. Most rehabs are a money making machine that puts their needs first over their clients. Some even funnel their clients that have graduated rehab into sober living homes that they or their friends own to benefit THEM. The staff at the Hope Center does not do that and help people have the best start that they can have when trying to stay sober. I 10,0000000/10 recommend The Hope Center if you or someone you know is looking for help for their addiction. God truly works in that rehab and the staff there.

If you are trying to recover from addiction and/or learn to live a sober life again I urge you, no beg you to find somewhere, anywhere just not here! The whole purpose of a place such as this is to begin to learn ways to live sober and change addictive and destructive behaviors. After my daughter finally made that wonderful decision and reached out for help this place did nothing but discourage and made it harder for her because of behaviors that she came here for help with in the first place. If you are serious about recovery please find help! It can be done and is so very worth it. The staff (with few exceptions) and organizational structure here is useless and not worth what I find in the back yard after my dog visits. STEER CLEAR! Find somewhere/anywhere else positive and work your program with all your might. It is possible. You can do it! Please do it! It's worth it! Just not here at this dumpster fire of an organization which I believe does more harm than good! I truly want to use a stronger descriptor but will refrain as GARBAGE fairly well covers it. Wish I could give a negative review and have the opportunity to return to them what they did not do for my daughter.
