They are sweet and efficient but have no idea how to deal with less than perfect kids. We put our 4 yr old kiddo in this preschool this year, hoping for a chance at some normalcy for this child who had already been through 9 surgeries, several of them open heart. Kiddo has been by all means a miracle child and has absolutely been through it. We discussed in depth with doctors, therapists, etc before making the decision to send him to school as the right decision. However, as expected, kiddo got sick a bit more than the other kids as kiddos immune system isn't as strong. They have strict sick policy, which we respect and understand. At the end of October, we have our first conference. Nothing is mentioned except an issue with answering to kiddos name and acknowledging direction. Nothing new. Nothing mentioned about "educational value." Fast forward to several weeks before Thanksgiving and sickness is going around. The normal kids are recovering in days, it' takes our kiddo a week to consider sending him back. We try it, and end up having to come get kiddo. We are asked to keep kiddo home until the cough is completely gone. We finally send kiddo back after Thanksgiving and 3 school days later, these people have the audacity to message and say kiddo is not getting " any educational value" and would like us to remove kiddo from class. Zero mention of this at the conference. Zero in the hundreds of messages they send weekly. They find a way to say "we can't handle your kiddo , even though we said we could" They even tried to tell us how we should be parenting and thought we should "consider therapy." Do you not listen? Doctors and therapists are who we consulted with to decide to send him to preschool!! Also, it's your job to GIVE every child the educational value. Something every educator in your preschool should be able to do. Educational value is all on the teacher ‍‍We were thinking about sending our 2 year old next year. But thanks for saving us money and showing how bottom of the barrel your preschool is! Why did you say you would take kiddo on when we disclosed from the very first time we contacted your school that he had some health challenges. Why Lie?!?! Stay away from this scam of a preschool. Miss Babita has an incredible gift for working with young children. She somehow manages to be patient, warm, kind, loving, and genuinely nurturing while also maintaining the structure and discipline that a classroom full of four-year-olds needs. Watching her bring a whole group of energetic little personalities together into a calm, cohesive, happy classroom is honestly impressive. Her classroom feels like a place where children are not only learning, but where they feel safe, valued, respected, and encouraged. She creates an environment that is educational without ever losing the warmth and joy that children this age need. Every child seems to have a place in her classroom, and every child seems to thrive under her care. What stands out most to us is how genuinely kind she is. Children know when an adult truly cares about them, and our son absolutely adores her. Even though she is no longer his regular classroom teacher, he still runs to hug Miss Babita every time he sees her. That tells us more than almost anything else could. As parents, there is an enormous amount of trust involved in leaving your child with someone every day. With Miss Babita, we always felt that our son was in the hands of someone who cared about him, understood him, taught him, guided him, and wanted him to succeed. She is patient when patience is required, firm when structure is needed, encouraging when a child needs confidence, and loving throughout all of it. She has that rare ability to command a classroom without ever losing her gentleness. Miss Babita is an exceptional educator and an exceptional human being. The Goddard School is incredibly fortunate to have her, and any child who gets to spend a year in her classroom is fortunate too. If we could give her more than five stars, we absolutely would. She made a lasting impression on our son and on us, and we will always be grateful that she was part of his early education.

We waited a few weeks after withdrawing him before sharing our experience because we wanted to be sure he was adjusting well in a different environment and he truly is. Pros: Good curriculum and a clean, secure facility. Cons: From the very first day, his teacher (Angela) repeatedly told us that he "doesn't listen," and that first impression never seemed to change. Instead of partnering with us, we felt that our son was being singled out with a continued negative focus. We tried to discipline him more at home based on this feedback, and in hindsight, we regret how this affected him. Communication was almost nonexistent. We asked for weekly updates and only received one. The school app, where teachers are expected to communicate, had very limited personalized information. Interactions with his teacher often felt unfriendly. When we greeted her in the mornings, she provided cold response, which made us feel unwelcome rather than supported. Management was unaware of these ongoing issues until we brought them up. While they expressed willingness to help, but we felt that their suggestions were not convincing. We completely understand that teachers can be firm, that is perfectly fine. But fairness and collaboration matter. When a child is viewed through a negative lens from day one, that can impact not only their confidence but also the parent-school relationship. We ultimately removed him because we did not want him in an environment that felt discouraging. He is now attending a new Pre-K program and has adjusted wonderfully. In several weeks, we have not received a single complaint from his new teachers. This reassured us that his struggles at Goddard were not due to who he is as a child, but the environment he was placed in. Most reviews for this school are very positive, and that is exactly why we feel obligated to share our honest experience. If we had known, we would not have enrolled our son here. Parents considering this Pre-K program should ask clear questions about communication and how behavior concerns are handled. They start teaching at age 1! They help with potty training if you need too. They provide the breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for the kids. The staff are easy to reach and communicative. The teachers all have at least a bachelor's degree in childcare or have a background with managing kids, nurses included. They remember all the kid's names and make everyone feel welcomed. It's also quite diverse with cultures and they have respect for others cultures as well. It's a great environment and they even have small celebrations and recognitions such as for Valentine's Day, Grandparents day, etc.

As parent we are equally focused on our son learning as we are in him receiving the love and attention so that he enjoys his school experience. No point in making the learning "dry" since he will get plenty of that in his later years. So far he had 4 different teachers and at least 3 out of 4 were extremely affectionate towards him. The fourth one was good, but probably a better fit for older classes where enforcing discipline is more important. He has learned a ton, even though he goes part time, 3 days a week. My wife stays at home and we use the school to give her a break and so that our son starts learning and socializing at an early age. Since he joined school he became much better at sharing and socializing with his little friends. The only reason I am not giving maximum score in this review is the one instance where our son got a teacher that wasn't a good match for his class. In the school's defense, they corrected the issue quickly.

This is such a great school…read more First, a little background to explain why I am writing this review. I was thinking about things I like so that I can review them, because I want to get my Yelp count higher. Even though I have not had my kids at AIA for a couple of years, this school is one of the first things I thought of. I had two children in this school. The older one attended from K through 5. When she graduated, I had to take the younger one over to their new school as well, because it is impractical for me to have them in two different locations. We only left for logistical reasons. We love this school. I wish I was wealthy so that I could invest in this school and help them expand. Okay, now on to the meat of the review. This school attracts kids from several different cultures. They have very committed teachers. Their founder, Dixie, is one of the kindest people I have ever met. They use Montessori methods, but they are not afraid to adapt their system to meet the needs of each child. My older child learned to read and write better than some of my fellow graduate students! I credit this school for that. I will name a few of the awesome teachers they have (or have had), but I am sure the others are great as well: Mrs. Turner, Mrs. McDaniel, Mrs. Littlewood, and Mrs. Narayan. If you want a well-designed adaptive Montessori program for your kids - that teaches excellent life skills as well - this is the place to bring them. This school does have a Christian affiliation, which would have normally made me wary because we are UUs, not Christian. However, as is appropriate for an international school, religious participation is voluntary. The school had children from families that are Christian, Jewish, UU, Hindu, and Muslim (and probably others). It seemed that none of them experienced religious conflict. So, if you want to teach religious tolerance to your kids, this is a great place.

They absolutely could have if they wanted to, but instead chose to charge us close to $2,000 and kept pointing us back to the contract and legal language. I even appealed directly to both the outgoing and incoming heads of the school, hoping there would be some understanding given the circumstances and how quickly we notified them. Unfortunately, there was none. The saving grace for us was my son's teachers, Mr. Rao and Mrs. Joshi. They were wonderful and we genuinely appreciated them. Beyond that, I was never particularly impressed with the administration or the overall experience. For a school that positions itself as a premier institution and has so many positive accolades, our experience was very different. To us, it felt like a pretty average/subpar school packaged and marketed as something much more. If you are considering AIA, just make sure you read every line of what you sign. Don't assume there will be any flexibility or understanding even when circumstances change within a matter of days.
