A friend is here for a conference and the Executive Center is ok, but everyone else is not nice especially the food people. Entrepreneurship both in the bootstrapping and within-an-organization sense, global perspective,…read moreand networking are strengths of this MBA program. The average professor here is very strong in his/her given field of expertise and regarded well outside the college. There is some slight institutional envy here, given the proximity to local world-class competition, but there is also collaboration with those same schools that is a positive, as well as a healthy sense of differentiated purpose here - students and faculty alike are here because they chose it rather than because they settled for it. The student body is both driven and collaborative, which is a welcome talent combination, rather than the fierce competitiveness that is one alternative. Working together, helping others (as with grad-to-undergrad coaching opportunities), and listening to and valuing varying perspectives are part and parcel of earning a degree here. Understanding that hard, disciplined, focused work frequently pays off is another valuable attribute of the student body. When the Career Center really finds its groove, expect a more meaningful climb in the various MBA rankings, because a large percentage of the student body here is truly doing dynamic, intriguing, and lucrative things. I've personally witnessed a surge in Babson brand awareness as a result of efforts made by the Career Center lately, and the College is doing some innovative things to energize the alumni and employer base around the school's message, as well. Regarding other public-facing activities, Babson engages businesses well through the Executive Education Center, welcoming idea sharing to keep not only relevant, but cutting edge. The school also participates in the community, as with its service as a waypoint in the Pan-Mass Challenge. Babson is a high-profile education center of choice for many foreign students, as well, including large draw from Latin America and Asia. A pristine campus within the picturesque Wellesley setting doesn't hurt either. Even if you're not in the market for a business degree, a trip to the campus is likely to be a pleasant experience.

I took Japanese through college; however, I had not had much opportunity to practice or maintain my language abilities in the years since graduation. Here's where Japanese Language Class Boston (JLCB) came in. Sachiko-sensei and Mari-sensei have been incredible resources helping me prepare for JLPT N-4 and prepare my language abilities for working in Japan. Since beginning with JLCB in July 2018, I've taken a variety of intermediate classes (Intermediate Conversation, N-4 Preparatory Class, Genki-2, and more), all have which broadened my vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills. With JLCB's help, I successfully interviewed in Japanese and received a job offer in Japan! I move to Tokyo in August! :) Additional things to consider: the location, Post Office square, has been incredibly convenient. It is in the heart of downtown Boston easily accessible by all four T lines plus a ~5min walk. The students here are very friendly, a mix of levels (in a good way) and all looking to improve their language skills. The teachers are always looking for ways to tailor the course to the students' wants and needs. Whether your starting learn for the first time or looking for that extra push toward fluency, I'm confident that JLCB can help you accomplish your goals.

Unfortunately there are not many options in the Downtown Boston area that are easily accessible for working individuals. Luckily I came across Japanese Language Class Boston and decided to give it a try. I am now in my second year here and still plan on taking as many lessons as I can. There is a lot to learn and the instructors here have so much to offer and are very patient. They do want to make sure that you are getting the most out of the lessons and it shows in the way that they plan their curriculum. You will be asked what you want to learn in the lessons. Jump at the chance and let them know. You won't regret it. That said, no matter what skill level you're at or what industrial background you're from, there is bound to be a class here that is right for you. I am learning for personal interest, some are learning for business purposes. Group lessons available on most days of the week so you will be able to make it to one or two of the classes. Private lessons are also available. I definitely recommend starting your Japanese learning experience here!

I was an elite member of CH-CH's boarding program a zillion years ago, so I feel qualified to tell all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Academics: Honestly? Pretty easy. Show up to class, remain conscious, do your homework, hand it in on time, and congratulations--you're probably getting an A. They did give students opportunities to explore their strengths, though, and I remember the teachers being pretty socially aware, which was genuinely cool. Extracurriculars: Drama counted as a team sport, which was fantastic for those of us who had absolutely no intention of becoming varsity athletes. You were required to either play a sport or do drama, so if you hated both...good luck! It looks like they offer more options now, which is probably for the best. Boarding: Not bad! The metal bunk beds were approximately as comfortable as sleeping in a shopping cart, and there is something inherently weird about your teachers seeing you in pajamas. But if home isn't your favorite place to be, boarding gives you somewhere else to exist for a while. Upperclassmen could do study hall in their rooms, and the weekend trips were worth taking advantage of. Social life: When I was there, the student body was basically extremely talented artists who smoked weed. The vibe was very chill. It seems like the culture has changed since then, but it's still high school, so obviously there are cliques and drama. And this school is SMALL. If you drop a pencil at 2:00, the entire student body will have developed a working theory about it by 2:15. So why two stars? Unfortunately, CH-CH was also the kind of place where you needed to be very careful about who you trusted. The culture blurred the line between teachers and students being friendly and teachers and students being friends, and those are not the same thing. Boundaries matter, especially when adults are working with teenagers. And please don't arrive expecting mental health treatment. Teachers are teachers, not therapists. Yet somehow, that did not always prevent people from offering opinions about students' mental health as though they were handing out extra-credit assignments. Also: staff gossip. My God. Sometimes I think the adults had more tea than the students did. And finally, the cafeteria. Avoid. There are enough challenges in adolescence without voluntarily adding that food to the list. Do I recommend CH-CH? Yes and no. For a kid who has always felt like the weird one, finding a school full of other weird, creative kids can do wonders for your self-esteem. There were parts of being there that I genuinely valued. Just remember: you're allowed to like your teachers without making them your friends.
