My work sent me on a week long Visual Basic course at Learning Tree and I was very impressed. The location is awesome. It's right downtown and very clean, modern, and spacious. All the equipment is new. Plenty of computers in the classrooms for use during your course. Also, outside the classrooms, there are computers with internet and phones so you can keep in touch with the office. There is an onsite kitchen with tables, sinks, a fridge, and a great view. They serve breakfast and snacks and there seems to be a ton of delicious food all the time. Ice cream bars, muffins, yogurt, french toast, and a whole lot more. I'm pretty sure I gained about 5 pounds over the course of my week at Learning Tree. The course itself was top-notch. The instructor, Tim, was amazing. He's very professional, helpful, funny, and experienced. The material was excellent and there were many hands-on exercises. We were given a copy of the material to take away with us for future reference. The thing that impressed me the most was the attention to the needs and interests of the students. Our instructor constantly asked about the pace and content of his teaching and implemented change when necessary. This is clearly a company that values the feedback of it's customers/students and makes changes accordingly. Of course, with this sort of quality comes a price tag to match. My week long course cost a few grand. As such I doubt I'd ever take a course through Learning Tree if I had to pay out of my own pocket. I have to take a star off for this. But, if your company is willing to pay for you to take a course (as was the case with me) I would highly recommend checking out Learning Tree. You won't be disappointed.

Running until July 2, 2011, Dancing Through Time: Toronto's Dance History 1900-1980 explores the development of the city's dance scene from influential touring artists to vaudevillians to the ballet and modern dance booms to the diversity of dance forms present in the city. It features costumes, photographs, playbills, souvenir programs, posters, designs, and more. Among the artifacts are rare silk stockings from the 1920s, sketches of the Ballets Russes by Grant Macdonald, a mask that toured to the 1936 Cultural Olympiad in Berlin, costumes worn by famed National Ballet dancers David Adams and Lois Smith, costume jewellery, and much more. This exhibit provides a rare opportunity to see artifacts not available in other museums. I've been to a few events now at the Peter Gilgan centre. This tone I was part of a conference…read morecommittee and partnered with SickKids to put on an event. The location is very good. It's close to several restaurants. No details were missed and we had a good amount of area for a large group to meet with speakers at the front, and superset spill over rooms and eating rooms. The staff was easy to work with, and professional. We had good sound quality, great video for presentations and they worked with us to record our conference and to broadcast and record it using zoom. The place is clean, and they were able to make adjustments to soaps, cleaning supplies, etc so that our members with scent sensitivities were better able to cope. The food service was very good and well managed. We were able to work with catering to help our members with food allergies, and celiac disease. The setting is professional and conducive to having multiple vendors onsite. They helped us to make our conference a great success. 5 stars! Highly recommended!

Despite it's name Knox College is not regarded as one of the 7 UofT colleges, but it is the home…read morefor Christian ministry studies and theology studies and is a residence for students mainly studying that line of work although I have known a couple of students over the years to call Knox their home. To my knowledge, the rooms there are pretty typical of most single residence dorms but I've not heard any big negatives about it. While I have absolutely zero experience with them as an educational institution, what my review will be based on is their library (Caven Library) and the building in general. In my mind, University College, Hart House and Knox are the 3 most beautiful buildings on campus. And the numerous times I've seen Knox being transformed in to a movie set is a testimony to this (biggest movie set here as of 2011 is The Incredible Hulk). And due to it being a "Christian" place it is not a heavily trafficked building as students are probably intimidated by it's religious aura.They have one of the most beautiful spots in the entire campus in it's green and somewhat gothicy quad that so many students are unaware of. The library is also one of the prettiest and naturally quiet libraries around on campus. High ceilings and large windows makes you feel like you're studying in a church (well it might have been one back in the day) and the fact that most spots are individual tables with privacy screens is probably the main reason behind the natural unimposed silence you can enjoy here while studying. The last time I was there, power outlets were hard to come by, but that could have changed since UofT libraries have been undergoing renovations as of late. If you are sick and tired of studying at Robarts or Gerstein, Knox is a great alternative, if you are not in the mood to really check it out, use it as a scenic short cut to get between St George Street and King's College Circle.
