Evolve has been fantastic. The front desk staff is kind and will usually try to cater to requests. For example, I was running low on medications and my prescriptions from the last appointment did not get processed; the receptionists helped to get in contact with Dr. B and arrange my prescription that day. That brings me to Dr B. Himself. Cheerful, jubilant, and thoughtful. His words are positive and encouraging and I can tell he takes my concerns seriously. He has helped me choose a plan of action that has been so far effective. I'm sure the other practitioners are equally as receptive and kind. read more

MONEY GRUBBING! Refusing to fill my final perscrption and insisting I need to schedule another appointment, despite the fact that I told my doctor I got a new job and would be moving to a different state. The billing never makes sense and fluctuates, one day they'll call you to ask about the $300 you owe them even though you already paid your $20 copay. Then the charge disappears when you push back on it. At my last appointment Dr. Sharief said it he would send my medication to a pharmacy in the state I was moving to. Three weeks later he refuses to fill my last perscripion because I'm out of state and is insisting I need to schedule another apointment. So I paid for 4 appointments with the Dr. Sharief but only got 3 perscriptions. Now I'm left scrambling to find a new dr. and will 100% run out of meds before I get in to see one. Extremely disappointing and completely unacceptable way to treat patients that have been with the practice for years. read more

I'm very disappointed with how my recent experience at Evolve Psychiatry was handled. I had a confirmed telehealth appointment at 1:00 PM. I received both a text and email confirmation just before the appointment and waited until 1:30 PM for the provider to join. When I finally called the office, I was told the provider, Ruth Moze, had an emergency and that someone should have reached out to inform me -- but no one ever did. I was then rescheduled for another appointment later that same day, only to get a phone call twenty minutes later saying that appointment was also canceled because that provider had an emergency. Having two same-day cancellations, with no communication beforehand, was incredibly upsetting and discouraging. For context, I had been receiving care at Evolve for about a year for medication management. I was happy with my doctor at first. After a successful pregnancy and giving birth, I developed postpartum depression. During my last scheduled visit, my provider called earlier than the set time, and I wasn't in a private space to talk, which made the conversation rushed and uncomfortable. That experience made me realize I needed a new psychiatrist who could better support me through this period. I had hoped to stay within Evolve because I already had an established history there. But after both of my new appointments were canceled--one after I had already been waiting--it left me without care and feeling completely disregarded. As a mother of six-month-old twins trying to manage postpartum depression, this experience has taken a serious emotional toll. I'm deeply disappointed and now have to start all over again with a new practice, which feels overwhelming given everything I'm already managing. I hope Evolve Psychiatry takes accountability for these communication failures and makes changes so other patients, especially those struggling with their mental health, don't go through the same thing. read more

DO NOT trust the reviews. They funnel patients into reviews after appointments, which I believe is not fair or ethical. The providers are saints, skilled and caring. The front office, and management, are disasters. As only one example, calling three prescriptions into two different locations - one I have never used or lived near. There is no emergency access or care. I would not recommend this company for real psychiatric support. A brief list of my issues during my time at Evolve have been - - Multiple appointments without a bloodwork prescription, which my provider assures me he gave to the office - Failure to prescribe a medication - A medication called in to the wrong pharmacy. In the wrong town. A pharmacy that was never in my file. - An outside practice referred incorrectly, leading to multiple emails and calls - Delay in work related letter, which was paid for And cutting off care, blocking phone numbers, and threatening a Cease and Desist over a $30 copay. The office is clean and inviting and the staff is nice and professional. They have different modalities of treatment from tradition medication to therapy and the revolutionary TMS therapy (trans magnetic stimulation). They also have tele-health sessions so you can get treatment from the comfort of your home. Spouse had an appointment scheduled for about a month, he had specially called to check on how much his co pay was and was told 0.00. The hurricane came and delayed it another week and the rescheduled and would be virtual. The day of the session the gentleman gathered my spouse's pharmacy information and then proceeded to tell him they would be charging the card on file 265.00. My spouse explained he had called with the specific purpose of finding out his co pay and was told 0.00. He immediately canceled the appointment. As a therapist I cannot imagine our office not verifying and getting back to the client themselves with a verification and cost . Very disappointing and also quite sad for my spouse . read more

The care I received from my PA is excellent, but the office worker at her office in Syosett has changed. When I called to get a message to my PA the new guy told me she left and he'd have one of the other doctors call me back. He didn't. No one called. And the guy hung up on me when I called again. Then he wouldn't answer at all. It's just before they close at 5 pm and he doesn't want to work. He just doesn't care about his job or the patients at your company. read more

PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN!! The so-called doctor who met with a child for less than ten minutes wrongfully attempted to prescribe unapproved medication without any diagnosis whatsoever. A basic google search revealed that she is the subject of a permanent protection order issued by a judge upon a finding that she is a danger to herself and others which she failed to disclose to the medical licensing board and Evolve. I informed the facility, she is now under ongoing investigation by the department of health and they will not terminate her because they're afraid of a lawsuit. She remains at the facility and continues to prescribe medication to children. read more

If I could give this place a zero I truly would. I am not one to write negative reviews and this is actually my first yelp review. I do not want anyone else with a mental health disorder to experience what I have went through dealing with this practice. Just by looking at the reviews here, it seems to be a very common theme and the office staff is just completely disorganized, rude, and not helpful. I have been asking for my medical records for the past 3 weeks and I have yet to receive them. I have not only called the office multiple times but I have emailed letting them know that this is a very urgent matter. Many months I am left scrambling to make an appointment and run out of my medication because of their horrible staff that doesn't even care about the wellbeing of their clients. Its also impossible to even get a hold of anyone but their "operator" who is never helpful. I also had my doctors personal cell phone number and at first she was so helpful with helping me refill my prescriptions when I ran out and then all of a sudden just started to ignore my text messages and calls when I was extremely desperate. Was put on a new medication, had implications regarding side effects after starting and questions I need to ask my psychiatrist. After I was told I can call at anytime, I did. Left a voicemail and it's now over a week later have still not received a phone call back. Also left a message with their front desk that I needed to talk to the doctor and never received a call back. They told me the doctor is busy now but will leave a message. Again a week has gone by and still haven't even received a phone call back. Considering this is for medication and starting a new medication there could be serious problems and should be taken seriously... will be leaving this practice for another one that actually cares about their patients. read more

Alexa De La Torre SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MEDICATE ANYONE! THIS SITUATION WAS SO BAD THAT I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH OFFICE of PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CONDUCT! Never in my life have I seen such NEGLIGENCE and INCOMPETENCY. When I expressed that I was alarmed about side effects from a medication Alexa gave me, she decided the solution was to immediately start increasing the dosage. Alexa gave me prescription on top of prescription and was over medicating me on a drug that was CAUSING MY MENTAL HEALTH TO RAPIDLY DECLINE. Whenever I complained about what was happening to me, ALEXA LITERALLY SAID, "YOU DON'T REALLY FEEL THAT WAY" and got angry with me. I finally made an appointment with a different provider at Evolve, but when Alexa found out she had me discharged from the practice before my condition was stabilized. I WAS ABONDONED FROM CARE WITHOUT ANY EXPLINATION WHY. I called multiple times a day for 2 weeks to find someone who could give me an answer, but all they would say was that Alexa filed a request to terminate me from care. My discharge letter simply stated, "WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE CARE NEEDED" (yeah, no kidding!) and I WAS LEFT IN A DETRIMENTAL STATE THAT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE I WENT TO ALEX DE LA TORRE! read more

This place tells you they take your insurance and then they don't. You make an appointment and you confirm that the out of pocket cost is $270 for first visit and $175 for visits after that. You arrive at your appointment only to be told that it's $400. This unprofessional and down right disgusting. They have no sliding scale for people you are unemployed because of mental health issues. This is why people ate discouraged to get help. Stay away from this place. The receptionist says if you can't afford it you can leave or we call the police. Just DISGUSTING. If I could rate evolve psychiatry Below a zero I would their staff is very unprofessional Dr B is very unprofessional and therapist. Kenny is very unprofessional. It's like when you come in for an appointment at 11 . And Dr. B has medical reps come in with coffee and donuts and then blow your appointment off and they tell you you have to reschedule And then if you see your therapist, Kenny for an 11 o'clock appointment and then they take your copayment and then at 12 o'clock they tell you that he's not even in today after you sat there for an hour and never received a phone call to cancel your appointment, they took your copayment and now they refusing to refund my copayment and they tell me they can no longer accommodate my psychiatry needs. They told me they refund my copayment and send in last months prescriptions .Needless to say they left me high and dry with no medicine and I never received my copayment back just on spite I went to the local courthouse for $10 and file a court hearing just to get my $25 back. DO NOT COME HERE AS A PATIENT. I work in healthcare and would NEVER write a negative review because I know how difficult things are now. BUT - I have been without my critical medicine that you are NOT supposed to stop suddenly - off of it now for 10 days!!!!! Called the office (call center) - left messages. Sent multiple texts to the Doctor - to the number provided by him - no response. Wish they could be investigated by Department of Health, like my workplace does - every year. DO NOT COME HERE AS A PATIENT. FOLLOW UP - (12/30/22) - Spoke with an office person 3 days ago. They said I need an appointment to renew - OK! I made an appointment. Asked for medicine to be called in to last till the appointment. She said DR. SANCHEZ will call it in. NO MEDICINE CALLED IN YET. It has been a total of ~15 days now with NO MEDICATION. And my other medicine is about to run out. THEY CALL THEMSELVES DOCTORS!!!!! They need to be investigated! ***************** FOLLOW UP - So today is 1/2/23 - still without medicine, and also another medicine is finished. Feeling the effects. I was given an appointment for 1/4/23 - and that so called APPOINTMENT is just for a 2 min phone renewal of medicine. Nothing else! And there go 50 bucks copay. I did not enjoy my services.... My appointments only lasted two minutes max for follow up which I didn't really appreciate. I felt like there collections was also very horrible... I had an appointments for almost a year assuming my appointments were covered by my insurance but when I needed an emergency follow up for medication they told me I had to pay for the years appointments I had that were not covered. Finding a psychiatrist is probably the hardest thing to do on Long Island. Evolve psychiatry had made it quick and easy to see a therapist and psychiatrist that takes our insurance. Alexis Catania is the best there is when it comes to psychiatrists. She is caring compassionate and understanding. I have never felt more comfortable speaking with someone about changing medications. She is non judge mental and cares about every aspect of life not just the medication. Following her lead has been one of the best decisions. I went from feeling super crummy to feeling like myself again with Alexis. The facility in general is very clean and the staff is so nice and gets back to you in a day or even less. I have been going here for about 2 years now , all I can say is , they do not care about your mental health. It is totally worth finding a new psych office. The amount of issues I have had with making appointments, refill on prescriptions, and even talking about my mental health has happened way to many times I can't even count. When I try to call the office DIRECTLY , it goes to a call center located in India , and they can never understand me , and sometimes I never even get a call back. My psychiatrist ( not going to blast their name ) has only wanted me to come , give me more meds , and get me the hell out of their office. I understand they are not a therapist, BUT THEY ARE THE ONES GIVING ME THE MEDS !!!! , SHOULDN'T THEY AT LEAST CARE TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY / FEEL??? It's so ridiculous, I have no words how frustrated I have become. I walk in , I'm asked, how I'm doing , I tell them , they "say oh you have been looking better "!! Even though I am telling them how bad I feel , then proceeds to tell me how the medicine will help , prescribes me the meds and basically rushes me out of the office. When all I want is a conversation and help , explaining why i feel that way , and maybe some good helpful feedback to make a brighter outlook ?! Instead I just get prescribed and rushed out ? Like this person is a doctor , shouldn't they listen to me and help me first before thinking about prescribing medicine? Nothing but problems at this office, and the staff seems miserable, especially the new staff . I came in the office physically to make an appointment because I was tired of waiting on the phone and dealing with the call center. Weeks to see a therapist / psychiatrist is unacceptable when mental health is extremely important and essential especially during a national pandemic. I've received two letters from the office, addressed to somebody else. I've let the office know of this right away, yet it continues to happen. I was a new patient and was happy at first but I scheduled my second visit and I had to speak with an answering service and not the reception in the office which was frustrating. Then, when I scheduled the virtual appointment my provider did not show. I was told I did not have an appointment scheduled?? Strange. Then, I reschedule with the front desk, and I had a 9AM virtual appointment and my provider didn't come on. Then, I had to call to find out why my provider didn't show and was told she was running late--totally understandable but I should have been contacted! Then, I was told I would be contacted again and was not--I HAD TO CALL AND LEAVE A VOICEMAIL! Completely unacceptable. Then, I called Katie Madlen's office regarding adverse side effects I was having on the higher dose of my anxiety medicine, and asked for her to call me back and advise how to proceed. Never called me. I will not be returning to a practice that behaves in such an unprofesional manner and clearly lacks regard for their patients. I'll go give my copay to someone who cares about my wellbeing and is respectful of my time. Would NOT recommend Katie Madlen or Evolve Psychiatry. read more

Getting refill is difficult and forget about a call back. The office manager asked to discuss my experience. I have not received a phone call to discuss. I've been going to Evolve for over a year and that is for a few very important reasons. The staff are helpful, polite, and answer all questions I have had. My doctors have made me feel less of a patient and more of a friend which has made my experience much more pleasant. With Covid they have gone above and beyond to make teletherapy that much easier for me to still connect and take care of my medications.
