After falling in love with aerial yoga in Toronto, I had all but lost hope of finding a place to…read morepractice close to home. Sure studios have popped up in CT here and there, but none of them were within a reasonable distance. That is, until Shine was born! I was lucky enough to secure a spot in an evening aerial class during the week (these classes are popular!), so I dragged myself off the couch and couldn't have been happier about it. There is a welcoming front desk upon entering, and moving back into the space you'll find two separate yoga studios, a bathroom (with shower) and cubbies for storing your things during class. The instructor Erica was very thorough and helpful but also really fun. She made sure that the silks were the right height before we began and then after demonstrating the poses, she walked around checking that everyone was safe in the silk and properly aligned. My muscles were incredibly happy with both the yummy stretches and the upper body and core strength needed to get into or go deeper into the postures. The stretches and savasana in the silk were the perfect ending to such a fun and challenging but incredibly grounding class. After such a great experience, I can't wait to try the other yoga classes offered!

Okay, honestly, a godsend. The best studio I've been to and I've been to many good ones in LA and a…read morecouple in CT. All the instructors are great. They offer fantastic Yin Yoga and Aerial Yin (phenomenal!) which is actually hard to find. Additionally, there is regular Aerial Yoga which is great for cardio, abdominal and upper body. There's also traditional mat yoga which is great for strength training as well. Pricing is also really affordable. Unlimited classes for 35$ in the first month. The easiest thing is to sign up online and then sign up for classes through there. I would definitely recommend you reserve a spot online because some classes are super popular. I love that you don't even have to bring any of your own equipment as long as you clean it afterwards. Seriously Shine Studio, thank you so much for existing.

I've been to the West Hartford location of The Yoga Shop studios but this was my first time at this…read morelocation in Glastonbury and it was a step up from WeHa in my opinion. I believe this is one of the newer locations as well. The studio is gorgeous. Well decorated and they gave big windows that let in a lot of light. Their lobby area is spacious and has cubbies, changing rooms and bathrooms. They have complimentary tea and cookies that are delicious as well. I took the LivFree power UP class on Saturday morning. It's one of the longer classes at 90 minutes but the last 30 minutes of class ended up being more stretching/cool down. It's your typical vinyasa type yoga flows in a heated room. What I liked about this location over West Hartford was that the space didn't feel crowded at all. The room was really big and even though there were probably around 30 people in class, we all had more than enough room. All in all, a good yoga studio with some classic yoga classes. Definitely worth a try. And your first visit to any Yoga Shop location is free! Note: this location doesn't have a drinking fountain so you'll either need to bring your own water, get it from the tap or buy some.

This is a special place. The Yoga Shop in Glastonbury is a stunning, simply STUNNING studio. Practicing in this studio feels like more of a privilege than a workout. But don't be misled; these classes are no joke. As an avid practicer of yoga, I leave each class dripping wet and feeling as though I truly worked every fiber of my body. Heads up: These classes are not for the faint of heart. Though I have brought beginners as guests, they have all found it to be too warm and too difficult. For me, however, this studio is perfection. The teachers are supportive and welcoming and all are masters of their craft. The owners, Annie and Kim, have built a wonderful, luxurious business and welcome all who enter. To top it off, as an educator, I was touched by their offer of unlimited classes for teachers this past summer at a very reasonable price of $200.

I have really enjoyed going to this studio. I just recently finished the beginner 30 days for $30…read morepass and have moved up to the 10 day pass. The instructors are very friendly and helpful. I've found that they get to know everyone's names and can offer a few quick corrections (or praise) during the class. The other thing that is really great is that the studio seems to be the perfect size. I am not getting dripped on by my neighbors and I have space to practice without hitting other people. But, on the flip side, it's not so big that I can't see the instructor or how I am executing the postures in the mirror. My only criticism is that I wish there was a better place to store your coat/shoes/bags when entering the studio. Everyone seems to pile up at the exit trying to grab their stuff before and after class. This place would benefit from a few more storage cubbies for people to use! Overall, I would definitely recommend, but caution -- it's HOT. Bring water and a towel.

The instruction is great, though I agree with the other reviewer who said that sometimes other students bad behavior goes unaddressed. I once saw a woman pick up her cell phone and send a text in the middle of a class. Totally unacceptable. The changing area is decent. The location is great with easy parking. The studio has a very welcoming feel unlike the New Haven Bikram studio which felt disjointed and unfriendly. First timers are given the attention they need, while more experienced students are challenged. Definitely try a class here, but drink plenty of water!
