Recently discovered the wonder of osteopathy as I decided to try and sort out my neck, shoulders…read moreand arms after years of abuse on the computer all day every day. Phil has a nice little room below the Rose and Crown hairdressers, where he clearly works wonders with his clients. The service is extremely professional, trying to find out what the root causes of any discomfort you have, and then manipulating the right joints to sort them out. He will also teach you useful stretches you can do yourself to help out. If you have any sort of discomfort and have had no joy with your GP, I would highly recommend having a look at this.

I have reumatism since seven years back and have seen a number of chiropractors and osteopaths as…read morewell as massage therapists. First things first. I chose to go for an appointment because of all the positive reviews. However after my experience at the appointment I took a closer look at them. One example is a supposed review on page 2 from a swedish girl doing an IDENTICAL review in July and October 2008. Clearly fabricated.. My experience: Paid £80 for first treatment. Guess those are the prices in central London. You can easily find an osteopath in the London area for £30-50. But as always I assumed that you get what you pay for. In fairness, I was 15 minutes late. ( You have to go through a tunnel between TK Maxx and Stanfords bookshop and locate the Amadeus House (hotel) at 27A. in a quite narrow street. To his credit he quickly returned my call and was friendly in spite of my delay. He was knowledgeable with the techniques and manipulated my rotated pelvis effectively and without pain. However as time wore on and we were moving on to my upper back where my worst problems lay with severely locked joints, we were apparently running short of time and he seemed stressed and growing irritated. I was already stiff and he asked me if I was ok - his manipulation of my upper back didn`t work out since I felt unable to relax, while receiveing that he was stressed and irritated and at the same time growing more irritated when I responded after a failed manipiulation to the question "are you ok" with "I feel stiffer" - which made him notably suprised at my reaction and more irritated. Which unsuprisingly made it harder for me to relax and affected the treatment itself. When we finally were done after numerous tries at my upper back, I could barely roll off the bench, since getting up from lying on the stomach proved too painful. I left for the first time from an osteopath, in more pain than what I came with. Walking home felt caused pain with every step. Later that day (to his credit) I recieved a friendly email from him following up with advice on helpful stretches and adding that I need more treatment as well as massage. I eventually chose to not book a second appointment. All in all, I do not think £80 was worth it; ending up still not being able to lie on my back or turn over in bed without pain over a week from the treatment. To sum up my experience with him: he has the techniques but not the experience and skill with difficult patients like me with reumatism. Also giving the impression that he was doing it for the money. In the future I guess I will have to rely on word of mouth, not the internet.

I have tried all the good clinics in London and nobody could fix me completely. Honestly, I almost gave up on my back. I have heard about how amazing Torben was from my husband's boss. I gave it one more try to see it will actually improve my back! I am so glad I did! I could feel the difference on my first visit. He really is amazing. Now I just had my 4th session and I can finally fly! (haha!) I am so free from the pain now. I definitely recommend him to everyone who is suffering from all different kind of pain. Thank you, Torben!

It literally took me years to figure out that the mirror fronted premises on Old Street with the…read moremodel spine above its awning was an osteopathy clinic. Stupid perhaps, slow, most definitely. Since discovering the Central London Osteopathy & Sports Injury Clinic however, I have not looked back. Now I'm no Olympiad but I did suffer a lot of back pain as a student huddled over my requisite Powerbook. And as such, the Central London Osteopathy & Sports Injury Clinic, and David Annett in particular who also gave me a lesson in 'the ergonomics of studying with a laptop' were nothing short of a Godsend. With a handful of impeccably trained osteopaths, an acupuncturist my mother swears by called Ann Bradford, naturopaths, kinesiologists, and yoga and pilates classes, the list of this clinic's merits and services could go on and on. At the risk of sounding overzealous, the Central London Osteopathy and Sports Injury Clinic is nothing less than a one stop shop for natural fixes to well worn problems and I, personally, cannot recommend it highly enough.

I've been suffering from chronic back pain for several months and my GP unhelpfully told me to 'stop doing things that hurt your back'. Noelene, on the other hand, has worked with me carefully to diagnose the exact problems, giving me exercises that are personalised for my specific problem. I had a spinal fusion for scoliosis at age 12 and was a bit anxious to find a physiotherapist who understood my physical condition (and wouldn't make it worse) and I've only had two appointments so far but already I'm noticing I have better posture and while I still experience pain, it's gotten better. I'm paying out of pocket which makes it quite expensive, but Noelene is not pressuring me to have more appointments with her than necessary, and I probably will only need to see her once more. The initial assessment/diagnosis appointment (45 mins) cost £70 and follow-up appointments (30 mins) cost £55.

I have spinal cord damage which affects my walking and hand function, along with many other complications. I can honestly say that without the fantastic work of all the team which involves the osteopath, massage therapy and podiatry, my ability to lead a normal and sometimes hectic life would not be possible. Their ethos is simple and can be adapted to suit your individual requirements, be it long term damage like mine or a painful sports injury. I highly recommend an assessment with them, you won't be sorry!
