You have to be very selective on the artist and style you want. My wife and I, and a friend, all have received tattoo blowouts from this shop. My wife and I got it from the same artist on the same day. My friend went to a different artist and suffered the same result. Although these issues are temporary when mild, it shows a lack of skill. The artist will say, "26 years of experience", but their work doesn't reflect. Some artist charge by the hour, but do not be convinced into paying more when sitting around waiting for the stencil to be placed and drawn, especially if they're not positioning it correctly. My artist charged 150/hr. But after 2 hours of actual tattooing he charged 400. The first hour was for the preparation of the stencil. Which should have been ready since I had a scheduled appointment. $100 for putting the drawing on your body is ridiculous. Yes there is a cost to materials and goods used, but charging %66 of the hourly rate for putting an piece if paper on skin is silly. You will also be paying for cigarette breaks. Sometimes two an hour. That's $25 for a 10 min cigarette break, or $12.5 for sitting around for 5 min. The shop is run very professionally. The front desk has plenty of assistants that will provide you with information on who to choose through an artist portfolio on the computer. read more

After looking at portfolios online for way too long I decided on an artist at Evolution Ink. I live about 2 hours away and have made this trip 3 times now so that should say something. Inside they have guitars on the walls with several TV's mounted to give you something to look at while you wait. They advertise as family friendly so I guess if you have kids you can bring them in while you get tattooed. They also have a pool table with plenty of room around it but you have to be 16 years old to play. Sorry kids. I will say that in the past front counter help created an issue but the owner addressed that. I read someone else's review complaining about paying for time to have the stencil applied. Lol. Your time starts when his pencil hits the paper or the cursor moves on the screen. read more

I went in to this location and showed one of the staff members in the front, a picture of the tattoo that I wanted in black and grey. She partnered me up with Shane and he took a look at it and gave me some great feedback on it. Long story short, I had my appointment this past weekend and Shane knocked it out the part. Nice enough shop and I was seen quickly but my tattoo artist at the time (Tyler) was rude and made for an uncomfortable experience. I got a cartilage piercing here. I told them very clearly how allergic I am to nickel. They assured me multiple times that there is no nickel in their jewelry. They were actually quite rude about it as well. I had my navel repierced (I removed my piercing ~3 years ago so there's some scar tissue) at a different shop with an extremely short barbell that I knew would not heal up properly once I was pierced. I called Evolution about the situation and asked if I could come get new jewelry inserted and my piercing checked. I spoke with Megan who was very friendly and helpful, and encouraged me to come on in so I could be seen promptly. When I arrived, Nicholas the piercer was awesome! He came out, looked at my new piercing and the scar tissue (the short barbell had already fallen out at this point because it was not properly screwed on), and told me he could taper it open for me. When he asked me about jewelry I told him I had just gotten a too-short piece and he showed me the internally threaded, 1/2" long, beautiful curved barbells that he uses and asked if those would be acceptable. He asked if I was happy with the placement and discussed some aspects about the piercing with me before completing the service. There was also a woman in the room with us, I'm not sure her name but she was so sweet and offered to hold my hand because she wanted me to be comfortable! Nicholas was so quick that I couldn't have taken her up on the offer if I wanted to, but I really thought that was nice. Everything he used on me was in sterile packaging and the shop was very clean. All told, I was in and out within about 10 minutes. I went from having a sore, mediocre looking piercing to having one that I am in love with again. Nicholas told me to contact him with any questions or concerns no matter how small. I left feeling confident in the quality of the piercing and jewelry, and I am so happy with the customer service here. All I paid was a tiny tiny service charge in addition to buying the curved barbell which was very reasonably priced, so I'm not sure about the reviews on here that claim this place is only after your money. Honestly, those reviews drove me to choose somewhere else because I wanted to be sure it was safe for me to get repierced, but I wish that I had just come here in the first place. I will be back if I need more piercings and would definitely stop here first for some ink in Fayetteville! read more

I didn't appreciate the absolute rudeness I got when asking something from the piercer and the guy that was helping her.

I just left after getting my 10 yr old son's ears pierced, and I wish that I hadn't gotten them done here. I have piercings galore and always want to support parlors for ear piercing, but today marked an interaction I've never had before w piercing. First red flag...I wasn't allowed back there w him as Nick, the piercer, couldn't handle any distractions. I didn't realize holding a child's hand would be too intrusive? I should've stopped the process right there. Second issue, no measurements were done to make sure the piercings were level and the same distance from his face (I took one of my other children to get her ears pierced at a different parlor and the amount of time taken for this was amazing). I stood in the doorway and went to check the dots once they were placed....Nick chastised me for touching his ears as he would have to "clean them again" and that his "ears are different sizes, so it won't be perfect." He was pompous, and I should've pulled my son, but I promised my son he would be getting this done today as he'd been asking for forever. Also, an item of note. The amount of time taken to interact w my son and me was none existent....it was a get in, get out process. The lack of human interaction was flooring because, again, I've a lot of experience w getting piercings. So ear piercings happened, simply told to wait 12 weeks to change out the studs... no review of aftercare and now looking at my son's piercings....they're lopsided. I'm angry for not stopping the process, but it is something that I can not change .I will say that whatever piercings I get in the future or if individuals ask where to go for piercings in the Fayetteville area, I will NEVER recommend Nick or Evolution Ink. read more

I will be going to Heart and Hammer in Dunn next time. I came for a Larkspur tattoo, which no one even knew what that was. Showed a picture, and paid $400 for a tattoo that looks nothing like the picture. I bled for over 48 hours, I'm talking soaking through my clothes. Pretty sure it was infected because it was hot to the touch for over 7 days but each time I called they said it was normal. It has streaks all through it where the color is missing, I was told I could get it retouched by I don't want to get it done by the same guy, why would I want an ugly tattoo over an ugly tattoo. I went to go get my tragus re pierced about 2 weeks ago & the ring fell out so I went to a different shop to buy a new ring. When they went to change it for me, the piercer said when they re pierced my tragus, they were at an angle. So now looking at it...my tragus piercing is crooked. They were super nice but again, I have a crooked tragus piercing. They need to be careful for charging $50. read more

They were very nice & welcoming, this was my first tattoo & "Sham" did an amazing job! Didn't hurt at all & was very quick. One word...horrible! I asked Grant for a coverup of a tattoo. My grandmother passed away in May 2019. Today was her birthday so I wanted to cover it with roses (her name). I wanted the roses to look more realistic and solid black. I sent him an example. What I got was completely different. WTF!!!! This looks like a child drew on me. The lines are not straight, but Grant continued to argue that they were. Most importantly were the lack of contrast in the detail. There is no sharp details in regard to color and every line is crooked. The leaf doesn't look like a leaf. The unbloomed rose in between these two ugly a** roses looks like I don't know what. This is by far the worst tattoo I have ever gotten in my life. This is my fourth tattoo. This looks worst than the tattoo I wanted covered up. It was old only and I got it at 18 is the reason I wanted it covered. For this tattoo to be in remembrance of my grandmother on her birthday, this is EXTREMELY disappointing. He was supposed to have charged me $300 ($150/hour) but charged me $80 instead for this mess. I shouldn't have been charged at all. Now I have to wait to heal and go somewhere else for a 3rd coverup. Thank goodness it looks like chicken scratch so it should be repairable. I cannot believe I have multiple tattoos and this is so horrible!!! HORRIBLE!!!! Exhibit "Grant F***ked Up This Rose Tattoo" (see 4th attached photo). Top Left: What is that? I think it's supposed to be an unbloomed rose. Top Right: In remixed words of J. Again...crooked lines, crooked lines....with non touching lines surrounding Yet, he saw nothing wrong and wanted to continuously say the issue was raised skin from the previous tattoo. Boy bye!! Ear-Piercing: Took my 10 year old daughter in to have her ears pierced with Jasper. He was a friendly guy, and showed us the mark where he would pierce BEFORE piercing, and quickly adjusted it after I said one was "off". They turned out great! He dispelled all myths about cleaning after piercing and told my daughter about how to do it. It has been one month and we have not had any problems with infections. The front staff could have explained that we needed a BIRTH CERTIFICATE to get it done, as nobody had told us when we called ahead (with all our questions). This place is a scam. I was introduced a guy name Markus or markis and I showed him some designs of something similar to my interest for my tattoo. He said he was put it together ASAP and show me the design, the appointment was for a month later. He sends me the design of a crappy image of something I did not ask for the day before the appointment. Afterwards, I asked the lady to switch me to someone who is more experienced, they said it was too late to cancel in such a late notice and robbed me for $150 of my deposit. DO NOT COME HERE. If I could give this place no stars I would. I walked in hoping to get a navel piercing (I'm 17), I was with my mom and the front desk lady didn't have the best customer service attitude so I already felt somewhat unwanted there (she was blonde and had her hair in a bun). She said the piercer Nickolas needed to check my navel to see if I had the right anatomy to get the piercing and then she asked for my age which I told her I was 17. She said she needed a birth certificate which I didn't bring which wasn't an issue I was fine with going home and picking it up. I asked if she could ask Nickolas to check to see if I could get the piercing before my mom drove all the way home and back, which she replied with an attitude "No you can't". I was being respectful and just said okay and went and got my birth certificate. When I got back to the shop (the drive was almost 35 mins in total to and from the shop) Nickolas immediately came out there and asked to see my navel. He took one glance at it and said "No you can't ever get a belly piercing. It's the way your stomach kind of overlaps I won't do it." in such a way that made me feel bigger than what I actually am. I left and went to New Addiction and the environment was amazing, everyone was super chill and nice and had GREAT customer service. I talked to my piercer about the situation and he said Nickolas is KNOWN for making people feel fat and just overall bad about their bodies. I would totally not recommend people to go here. First off when you walk in while the decor and music might draw you in to stay, the customer service will make you want to walk right out. the front desk people are so rude. The tattoo artists treat you like you are just a wad of cash (which they'll definitely over charge you) they don't treat you like anything more than just another notch. They also steal work. I've called them out on it multiple times, and they've ended up deleting it because I've contacted the person who did the actual work. They do decent work, but they overcharge. You should pay a pretty penny for good custom work but you shouldn't pay for their time too. You should pay for their work and the conversation. A real artist loves what they do, not the cash. They are rude, and just ridiculous. I would never recommend them or get anything from them. read more

This place is okay. The environment was pretty weird since it was a lavender color with a bunch of art work on the walls but whatever. It had tons of little TVs everywhere, different booths for different tattoo artists. It was okay. I took my husband here to get his nipples done. I forgot the piercers name but she was very professional and very nice about it. They seemed to have a clean place. And good clean equipment to work with. I gave this place a 2 star because I realized that it shouldn't cost $70 for nipple piercings and $50 for one. I dealt with it but I rather get my piercings done for $50 else where.
