    Blowout - 2 months "healed"
    Robert M.

You have to be very selective on the artist and style you want. My wife and I, and a friend, all have received tattoo blowouts from this shop. My wife and I got it from the same artist on the same day. My friend went to a different artist and suffered the same result. Although these issues are temporary when mild, it shows a lack of skill. The artist will say, "26 years of experience", but their work doesn't reflect. Some artist charge by the hour, but do not be convinced into paying more when sitting around waiting for the stencil to be placed and drawn, especially if they're not positioning it correctly. My artist charged 150/hr. But after 2 hours of actual tattooing he charged 400. The first hour was for the preparation of the stencil. Which should have been ready since I had a scheduled appointment. $100 for putting the drawing on your body is ridiculous. Yes there is a cost to materials and goods used, but charging %66 of the hourly rate for putting an piece if paper on skin is silly. You will also be paying for cigarette breaks. Sometimes two an hour. That's $25 for a 10 min cigarette break, or $12.5 for sitting around for 5 min. The shop is run very professionally. The front desk has plenty of assistants that will provide you with information on who to choose through an artist portfolio on the computer.

Did a walk in for matching tattoos with my best friend. Friendly people, the guy who did our tattoos was great. He let us scroll through all the different fonts for the writing and even tweaked some of the letters we thought were a little funky. After care balm was only $5 and works (and smells) great.

My sister and I have talked about having a "family tattoo" outing for several years but have always been too busy or lived too far apart. Well, the stars aligned today. The two of us, along with her daughter AND son (plus his GF and my husband) all arrived as they were opening the doors and were the first "walk-ins" of the day. I'm not sure how they assign artists to clients but it could not have worked out better. I had Richard and what he did with my art was above and beyond what I thought it would be. It's perfect. This place is amazing. It's clean, professional, beautifully organized and huge. The artists are all really cool and obviously good at what they do. We were in and out in about 1.5 hours. We're all also already planning our next tats.

I went with my son to get matching tattoos. Mike Case did amazing work. Highly recommend

By far the worst tattoo I've gotten. Line work was not good and color has already faded. I got this tattoo 3 1/2 weeks ago. Very disappointed.

my new piercing with beautiful aurora borealis jewelry that is properly sized around all my scar tissue and the deep placement
    Jillian B.

I had my navel repierced (I removed my piercing ~3 years ago so there's some scar tissue) at a different shop with an extremely short barbell that I knew would not heal up properly once I was pierced. I called Evolution about the situation and asked if I could come get new jewelry inserted and my piercing checked. I spoke with Megan who was very friendly and helpful, and encouraged me to come on in so I could be seen promptly. When I arrived, Nicholas the piercer was awesome! He came out, looked at my new piercing and the scar tissue (the short barbell had already fallen out at this point because it was not properly screwed on), and told me he could taper it open for me. When he asked me about jewelry I told him I had just gotten a too-short piece and he showed me the internally threaded, 1/2" long, beautiful curved barbells that he uses and asked if those would be acceptable. He asked if I was happy with the placement and discussed some aspects about the piercing with me before completing the service. There was also a woman in the room with us, I'm not sure her name but she was so sweet and offered to hold my hand because she wanted me to be comfortable! Nicholas was so quick that I couldn't have taken her up on the offer if I wanted to, but I really thought that was nice. Everything he used on me was in sterile packaging and the shop was very clean. All told, I was in and out within about 10 minutes. I went from having a sore, mediocre looking piercing to having one that I am in love with again. Nicholas told me to contact him with any questions or concerns no matter how small. I left feeling confident in the quality of the piercing and jewelry, and I am so happy with the customer service here. All I paid was a tiny tiny service charge in addition to buying the curved barbell which was very reasonably priced, so I'm not sure about the reviews on here that claim this place is only after your money. Honestly, those reviews drove me to choose somewhere else because I wanted to be sure it was safe for me to get repierced, but I wish that I had just come here in the first place. I will be back if I need more piercings and would definitely stop here first for some ink in Fayetteville!

Very clean and professional, with a friendly staff. Very impressed by everything here. And big thumbs up for Elton- incredible artist and generally cool guy!

So first off the guy was super heavy handed and scarred tf out of my skin making the tattoo not look like it is supposed too. he did decent work but I would not recommend this place to anyone. Heavy handed and scarring **** I feel like I have Braille on my skin

I didn't appreciate the absolute rudeness I got when asking something from the piercer and the guy that was helping her.

I am so disgusted with the outcome of my tattoo and my experience at this bully of a shop…read more I made two separate three-hour round trips, expecting beautiful results based on the artist's portfolio. I wasn't healing correctly after my first session and emailed my concerns with pictures but was given a generic response. I eventually ended up going to urgent care to be treated for inflammation. Even with pictures they never admitted it had been overworked. I was contemplating whether to find another artist to complete the initial work, which presented some challenges. However, I returned to the original artist some time later and wrote the reaction off as a consequence of new ink going over the old ink, or maybe a reaction to the short lived sani skin application. NO ONE IN THIS SHOP EVEN BREATHED A WORD THAT MY SKIN HAD BEEN OVERWORKED. Since the last session, every artist I've gone to for a consult told me that the area was definitely overworked and not my fault. The quality of the work is just ok, but as of right now the look is not cohesive. I hope to find a skilled artist who is even willing try to fix this. I did question whether or not he was taking longer to charge more. If I had returned, I would have paid over 5k total. I also spoke with the manager, Jo in person. I was in tears, explaining how unhappy I was so far, especially since I had already put so much time and money into it. She said she understood my concerns with stone face, condescension and passive aggressiveness. No apology, no offer to refund a portion or pay to have someone else finish it. Just silence and the hope I would disappear. Jo then proceeds to give me unsolicited "advice" regarding how she makes her own life decisions in a very childlike way. This is what happens when people are comfortable making assumptions about you. Thankfully, I don't take the opinions of someone who was excited about a 3 day stay in hotel by herself seriously (a story time I didnt ask her for). I realized she wasn't really listening to hear me. Jo said that Grimm has won awards etc.. none of that matters if you destroy someones skin. She was just countering me in an effort to dismiss my concerns. I urge people to seek artist that know how to work skin of different tones and textures. Brown skin doesnt mean go harder with the needle to do a cover. This establishment took my money and but did not deliver. They are unethical and Grimm appears to be MAGA. SUPER UMCOMFORTABLE for me. I told him I don't respect his lord and savior. If I had known beforehand, I would would never have let him tattoo me. Full stop. Overall, I gather that if you're happy with your experience all is well. I expressed dissatisfaction with legitimate, serious concerns and they made it my problem. As if I tatooed myself. I'm sure other factors were involved but they'll never admit it. Not publicly anyway. * warning graphic photos Update: I've had several consults to fix this mess and they all could not believe I paid $3600 and wasted 16 hours. All of my consults pretty much had the same opinion that my skin had been overworked and definitely overpaid for what was completed. Jo also told me that she would find out the brand of ink that was used and send me the template of the art that Grim used. To date I have not received either. I find that very petty and unprofessional of adults that run a business. But, how you do one thing is how you do everything. My skin is permanently scarred and I PAID for it. I could have gone to a master artist and had half my body done for that amount. If you are melanated please be careful...find an artist who actually works on clients of various skin colors and displays it. If you have soft, supple skin, be cautious... If you have the skin of a leather back turtle or genuinely just a slimeball this might be your place.

I would send my friends and family to joe. More details: I walked into shooting star after going into 3 other studios and feeling like they didn't care about the work I wanted. I even put a $100 deposit down on work at once place but ended up walking because the artist wasn't interested in working with me to get the design right. Anyway, I looked through books for each of the artists and joe's work seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. He was in at the time and was happy to look at the picture and sketch I brought with me, he made me feel really comfortable from the jump and was able to get me in quickly. When I got in on the day of my appointment I was on time, and joe was ready to get to work on my piece. He was gentle enough that I was able to handle 2 hours of needling on my ribs without crying or asking for breaks. In that session we got through all of the outline and shading in black and white with some of the color on the greenery. Everything healed up nicely and I was able to return in about 3 weeks to get the remainder of the color put on and get my husband the small piece he wanted. My husband's tattoo took about 30 minutes. Joe set everything up again, and jumped right into finishing up mine. If you're around Fayetteville, please checkout shooting star!
