This is a fantastic gym!…read more The owner, Greg, is very approachable. I moved to Vancouver about a year ago and he was very helpful in getting the administrative side of my account changed. Greg is frequently in the club, often working out with his son! The club has very nice equipment and there is plenty to choose from; For cardio there are Bikes (both recumbent and upright), elliptical, ergs, stair steppers, treadmills, and more. For lifting there are free weights, various isolation machines, multiple squat racks, kettle bells, smith machine, and more. If you're into Plyo there is an entire studio of equipment you can use. Some of the more niche gear like a hack-squat is missing, but if you're well seasoned at the gym or ask an anytime trainer, there are plenty of other exercises that work similar muscles. I will say, there is a rush hour, on no fault of the gym. It's not unmanageable, but if you're an introvert the right after work time might not be right for you. All other times, especially early mornings are quite manageable. A month or so ago my workouts were more sluggish than ever, and I remembered what it felt like to really kill a workout, so I made an appointment for a personal trainer--Lucy! Lucy has a great repertoire of exercises--every workout with her is motivating and I am always completely drenched in sweat! With Lucy I have gained confidence not only in my physical abilities by emotionally. She's the true definition of a COACH. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, clean gym with a great location (just off the SkyTrain), I highly recommend this gym!

Equipment was always clean, and if it was ever down, it was never down for over a week. Maintenance and cleanliness were top-notch were a gym. There were more than enough accessories such as foam rollers and workout bands, etc. as well. The staff are incredibly friendly and always greet you if you're in during their hours. There's always personal training available to you and my favorite part is that they're busy, but never ABSOLUTELY packed like other gyms have been. I've since walked into many, many Anytime Fitness locations and this one is by FAR the cleanest, best-run location I've ever seen. I would come back here in a heartbeat. I really can't complain about anything at this location! Even the clientele at this location is super respectful, which made my experience at the gym a lot more comfortable. The ONLY downfall is that it's a bit pricey, but this isn't exactly location-dependent; the entire chain charges $50~/month+.

My sister and I went on a short trip and wanted to make sure we stayed in shape while away from home. We came in fully expecting to pay a few bucks for day passes but we were pleasantly surprised with a free pair of 12 day passes! The gym itself had three full squat racks. THREE! My sister and I had no problem finding a free rack. And of course it had all the other things typical to a gym-- free weights machines etc etc. But what did it for me was the full kettlebell set! I love kettlebells and was ecstatic to be able to do my kettlebell exercises at the YMCA as well. After our workout, we had yummy protein shakes as recovery drinks. Perfect end to a great gym session. I recommend this gym to anyone who's going to be visiting downtown Vancouver for any amount of time.

Whenever I'd return after a hiatus, I was always welcomed back by a squeal and a nice hug from the owner Martina (who's there 99% of the time). The rest of her team of instructors and trainers there are all amazing and super friendly. Since recent renos, the space has more room for larger classes and I've never felt cramped. What I love most about this place is the owner Martina who is a GODDESS---she is the epitome of health and fitness and is the absolute best at mentoring and guiding her "students". She pushes you hard and has eyes in the back of her head to correct poor form- even with a full class she will catch you slacking!! I encouraged my hubby and a good friend to join and they're both very happy with it. I love this place and will continue to be a member until I leave the city.

This gym is unequivocally the worst fitness experience in the lower mainland. Equipment is…read moreregularly taken over by personal trainers. In fact, several times throughout the week, at peak periods FW staff trainers hold classes that uses the entire gym making it impossible to train independently. There's only one set of pretty much any equipment which means your often waiting for weights and benches. The washrooms are never cleaned and often in disrepair. Equipment is rarely wiped down by members even if FW actually filled the hygiene stations. It's disgusting. More importantly, it is not a safe space and there's no staff on site if aggressive individuals are present. People regularly fob in large unpaying groups. When asked about this, FW says "there's nothing we can do". You're better off doing pushups in your living room.

They also have awesome chiropractor, nutritionist, physiotherapist and registered massage therapist. The concept of the gym is being healthy as whole and get the best of ourselves, not someones body. Since I am there, around 5 month I have learned a lot. The atmosphere there is amazing and everyone knows you by your name and they truly care about us (at least thats how I feel ). My back was pretty bad and my self steam was even lower, they helped me with that too. Personal trainer was amazing, I only bought a couple sessions and there is no pressure on that, I am going to start my on ramp this week for Crossfit and I cant wait. Ok so some important points: They do charge a small initiation fee but they give you assessments with all crew and its definitely worst the money. If you do personal training 3 times per week you dont pay membership. The price of PT is same as other gyms I have been so its an awesome deal, trust me. There weren't that many people and so many different machines, some of which I've literally never seen or heard of like the stretching ones. Definitely took the time to walk around to check each out and the best probably is the pendulum squat machine. I'm pretty impressed with the women's workout space. For one, it had some machines including a cable and benches, and only 2 cardio ones. Much better than She's Fit. The bathroom is stocked with some tampons and it's spacious. My one tiny complaint is that there seems to be some lunks that exerted more noises than necessary, especially in a communal gym. Loud enough for you to hear the grunts from across the gym. You don't even see that at Fitness World.

This is a warm and non-threatening environment and the front desk ladies are always awesome and helpful. The only thing of note is that the music/microphone volume in the classes is unnecessarily loud but the last couple of times I've been there it seemed quieter, so maybe they've recently addressed this. One thing above all else stands out most for me: I've been training with Brennan over the last year and I can say without a single doubt that he has helped me make the most positive changes in my life. He graciously took me on as a client when my original trainer had left. He is patient and understanding beyond belief. He goes above and beyond for all of his clients in so many ways. Brennan has worked so hard with me to get me closer to my fitness goals and has also helped me maintain a healthy weight during weeks of bad stomach flare ups which would typically cause my wait to drop anywhere for 15-30lbs what's normal for me. Not a single flare up this year kept me down and I have Brennan to thank for that. Not only has he shown me the physical benefits of lifting and being consistent with workouts/eating well he has shown me exactly how amazing the gym is for my mental health. There have definitely been days where I've come in fighting internal battles and first Brennan listens to me vent and then he shows me exactly how strong I am and how powerful the mind and body really is. I've walked into the gym feeling weak and defeated and within 10 minutes of working with Brennan I feel 100x stronger and I always leave better than when I walked in mentally, emotionally and physically. I cannot thank him enough for how he's been the most supportive trainer I've ever worked with. He answers every single question I have, explains in depth what each lift does for my body, and even listens to me complain about whatever crummy day I was having ALL with a glowing smile. I am beyond thankful for everyone at this location for providing such a warm, welcome and safe environment for all walks of life to work on themselves. This was, hands down, one of the best decisions I ever made for myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
