FCNMHP is a much needed resource in Jacksonville. I have used them a few different times when dealing with rescued animals. I've taken one dog and three kittens here, all of whom were strays. The staff is always friendly and professional. My most recent visit ended with one of the vet employees taking one of the kittens that needed a home. I walked in with three and left with two! They offer a wide range of services from low cost vet care to free spay/neuter programs depending on where you live. FCNMHP also offers the Zeuter procedure. It's a chemical form of neutering that doesn't castrate the dog. It's supposedly healthier because it allows for a gradual hormone drop and now the all or nothing that comes from removing the testicles. Spraying a cat costs $50 unless you qualify for a free program. The vet is located off Norwood Avenue. It's usually always busy so try to make an appointment if you can. They have walk in hours including some Saturdays. As with all vet offices, there a lots of animals, it can be loud and smelly from accidents. But at the end of the day, FCNMHP is full of caring people who provide much needed animal services for an affordable price. read more

FCNMP cannot get lower than 3 stars because this clinic is a much needed resource to pet owners. Low cost spay and neuter, shots etc. They have grants and many programs to help low income people people enjoy their pets and keep them healthy. They even have programs for feral cats to spay and neuter strays. For this mission alone, they deserve 5 stars. If you're talking about customer service and the pleasantness of the experience then a 3 is the most I can give them. It's no use being upset about it though because again, they are providing a service to help as many people and pets as possible with what funding they do have. It'd be like cussing out Mother Theresa for not plating your free meal correctly and neglecting to offer you a cloth napkin. It took me an hour and half to check in my dog to get neutered. The process is unwieldy and slow. You wait in line to get the paperwork and check in. Then you wait some more for them to call your dog so they can take him back into surgical area. Then you wait in the very crowded and narrow waiting room for someone to go over the paperwork and give you some info and THEN you can leave (probably to repeat this whole process again when I go pick him up this afternoon). Calling to make an appointment is an exercise in patience. Never leave a message because you will never get a call back. Just keep calling. If you are a walk in, your wait will be at least an hour. The staff (paid and volunteer) are animal lovers and are at least cordial. They aren't horrid just overworked and understaffed (the usual for non profits). If you have the funds to frequent a regular vet and pay 3x the price FCNMHP charge, then I'd do that. However, with my 4 dogs and 2 cats, 2 goats and 5 chickens, this isn't an option for my budget. I am thankful and grateful that FCNMHP exists at all. I know they'll take care of my dog, that part I'm not worried about. The ease and pleasantness of the experience as a human leaves something to be desired but again, FCNMHP isn't here for your comfort but for the health of Jacksonville pets. Bravo to them for that. read more

We luckily stumbled upon this amazing clinic! The staff were all very kind and the clinic was cleaned up well. The service was fantastic. It was a little hectic during the drop off and pick up times, but that is to be expected! Our little guy is exhausted but his incision looks great. Next day today, our little man is back to his energetic self and the incision is healing nicely! Thank you so much to Mr. Joseph Strasser for donating to such a necessary company! Thank you all to the friendly and welcoming staff at FCNMHP! read more

This is a very bad place for your animals if You love them my dog was treated inhumanely! Get another opinion b4 you let them do surgery on your dog! The phone center is harsh & hangs up on you when you ask a question for the Dr. So just take it from a very unbelievable experience that my sweet dog had gone through & still is God will be the judge of there inhumane actions read more

Affordable pet care. They are GOD's angels on earth for our pets. They worked with me in surgery costs.

I've heard good things about this location, and perhaps that's why I was somewhat surprised by the way I was treated during my visit. I was there for my kitty and pup to get microchips - that was literally it, they're healthy and up to date on everything else - and it seemed like no one was on the same page. Firstly, all of their promotional ads online DO NOT state that they add a clinic/exam fee PER PET, nor do the staff mention it when you call to book the appointment. I also offered multiple times for them to check my vet records and make copies, which they never even GLANCED at. Upon the vet tech's arrival, they actually mixed up my animals! The vet tech that came to collect them one at a time - and this was after I was very open about each of their personality quirks (Rascal, my pup, doesn't like being picked up and can be somewhat grumpy, and my kitty has FIV, so I wanted to be sure the table would be cleaned first to which the vet tech/vet's reply was "If you're that concerned, you're welcome to go somewhere else." Excuse me? I was expressing concerns to which all you had to say was "No problem, our place is kept sanitary and cleaned between each household's pets," not throw out the sass like I was the one in the wrong for being worried about my animal's wellbeing) - took back the dog and then returned, said the incorrect name, and I had to correct them. They basically put the wrong microchips in the wrong animals (thankfully they weren't pre-registered) when they HAVE the charts that tell them the SPECIES of the animal!! Absolutely ridiculous to make that simple of a mix up when all it would have taken was them looking at the damn papers. That, and when Rascal was returned, he was bleeding from the microchip area and they didn't mention it nor offer anything to clean him up with. I had to ask the lady at the counter, to which she didnt have anything either, and then go clean him up myself in the bathroom. I DO NOT approve of any vet that isn't willing to show you the microchip process or let you be there for your pet during something so simple. All of my other vets have done so. The place was very nice - huge waiting room, mostly-polite counter staff, etc., but I just don't approve of their ignorance or lack of attention to detail. Plus, any vet that doesn't allow you to enter the room with the animal for something as simple as a microchip is sketchy in my opinion. All of my vets have ALWAYS allowed me in the room unless it was a surgery. I do NOT see myself going back here. read more

They don't care for the animals and don't listen to the owners of the pets! I took our dog there on Sept 23rd at 9am, explained to them that there was something wrong, they asked a few more questions and then told me that the vet refused to see her. This morning I made a appointment with another vet and was suppose to take her in at 2:30 and at 10:30 she had a seizure and I had to take her right away to the vet! This may have been prevented if the vet didn't refuse to see her!! Unprofessional and uncaring! Shame! read more

I took my elderly miniature poodle to have dental work at the beginning of June. When I picked her up they 'regretted to inform me that they burned her with the warming blanket'. They acted like it was not a big deal. She has a burn on her side about half the size of her body. No hair grows there and it is permanently scarred. It is the beginning of August and my once beautiful, loving, smart dog is a wreck. She will no longer let us hold her, she potties in the house (she NEVER did before-not once!) she cries all day and runs back and forth until she wears herself out and falls asleep. She will sleep for 2 hours at a time and start all over again. Whining, running back and forth, and wincing if someone goes near her. My poor dog, they destroyed her life and when we told them about it, they did NOTHING! read more

I brought my kitten in to be examined because he had hurt his tail, and I paid $100 for them to examine him for 10 minutes, and they immediately said his tail was broken and would have to be amputated. I was very upset about this, and was not comfortable with this business doing the procedure because they gave no information or paperwork about it. I decided to get a second option on this at the humane society. They brought my kitten in and very thankfully, took a X-ray of the tail and discovered it was not even broken! It made me so angry that I almost had my cats tail chopped off when it was not even necessary, and the information given from the No more homeless pets, was false. I am still even more upset that I paid that much amount of money, for a crappy and Entirely non accurate Examination. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE, your pet will not be in loving and professional hands. They really just want you money. read more

I had an appointment and waited an hour to be seen, then waited two more hours curbside to have wellness exams on my one cat and two kittens. One of my kittens still is having issues (bloody diarrhea and sneezing) after being seen and nobody responded to my calls, so now I had to pay another vet to do another exam on him. I was told he has an upper respiratory infection and he was put on antibiotics, something he should have gotten here! This is just not right and they should care about their patients read more

My sweet Pitt had an ear infection. We took her to 1st Coast. They were extremely busy on this given Sunday, but made time for her. They gently cared for her and prescribed some medicine. All of the staff was very friendly & caring. The prices were all reasonable! If my dog needs vet care again, I will definitely use 1st Coast. I appreciate them! read more

Unfortunately, management changed hands and the heart of the company went with it. It is so sad when that happens. Just try to stick with the people who still care there. I hope they still have low cost programs that help people with pets. Explore, ask questions, check the prices before you commit. read more

For these prices there is NO EXCUSE not to get your pet spayed or neutered. Drop off is between 7-8, you fill out some paperwork and present proof of low income if you need even lower rates. Pickup is after 3, depending on the size of your dog. You may wait a few minutes on either end since a line tends to form but the process is fairly simple and the staff is very helpful. ZERO!!!!!!!!!! Let's see, I have a 4.5 lb. Chihuahua that is a little over 5 years old. I brought him in because he had an abcessed tooth that was causing his eye to swell. It was explained to me that my dog was to have what is referred to as a Dental Two pulling 3-5 teeth, when only ONE needed pulled. My horror begins while sitting in the waiting room on July 16 for my dog to be dropped off to be fixed and the bad tooth pulled so his swelling would go down. In the meantime I'm watching one of the employees DRAG A DOG BY THE LEASH ACROSS THE DAMN FLOOR!!!!! Now I don't know about how you treat your animals but I should have used that as my clue to haul ass. Instead of having the sense to ASK the owner to walk with you to the door, just drag the dog, oh and before all that lean over it with your big ass self and then wonder why she growled at you. You NEVER stand over an animal like that, you scared the crap out of her then dragged her across the floor. I'm guessing this was based on your training and not common sense. The owner should have taken his dog and I should have left right after him. I return all the way at the end of the day waiting for over an hour to pick up my dog and becoming more nervous as time goes on. Here's where it really gets interesting. By the time my dog comes out he has NO F**KING TOP OR BOTTOM TEETH EXCEPT CANINES. Now I'm usually a calm person but explain to me how the hell you drop the ball SOOOOOOO MUCH THAT NO ONE EVER CALLED TO TELL ME THAT NOR GET MY PERMISSION TO DO SO???!! And Dr. Randolph Leslie Caligiuri I really appreciate your laughter that at least I wasn't charged for a dental three. YOU NEVER TOOK X-RAYS AND BASED PULLING THEM ON YOUR PERSONAL ASSUMPTION THAT THEY WERE LOOSE!!!!! When all I see on a 4.5 POUND CHIHUAHUA IS BLOOD ON HIS MOUTH AND IN HIS CARRIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some nails cut too short and others not touched. I've been around animals all my life as well as worked with them. I can't begin to state what should happen to people like you. You do not belong around animals. Not even a goldfish. Want some more fun?? I have 21 years experience in the administrative/customer service field and HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE been so disgusted with anything or anyone and believe me I've had reason. While going through their "interview" process it was referred to as an assembly line. Yes, you read that correctly. The first part contains dogs who have recently been let out of surgery. First thing I notice is a sweet little dog crying. Water in the bowl, hmmm.....something must be wrong, but they never checked. I guess a metal cage lined with newspaper is good enough. Too busy bragging about how awesome they were. Pacing is a sign of something wrong. Take note!! Second room where the cats are and one is literally face planted into the towel nose and mouth and I can only see the left eye. She walks right past the cat, looks at it and keeps going. WTF?? I can't begin to tell you how angry that made me and then led me to believe maybe something worse happened to my dog considering all he will do is growl at me now. So, as I'm looking at this cat I decide it's best to let them know it doesn't appear to be breathing. They grab the cat and take it to the other attending "physician" who states as we all walk through that everything is ok. Yes, it's normal for a cat to be what appears dead or over sedated. My bad. There IS NO ORGANIZATION HERE AND NEVER HAS BEEN!! It's obvious. Papers everywhere, nothing put up, and the only young lady that I spoke to that seemed remotely happy to be doing her job was the young black lady I asked for my dogs medical papers. I wish I could remember her name because every last one of you need to take note of her. You are to provide a service that is to HELP people of lower income and I find it not only sad and irreprehensible that you even call yourself "help" or an "organization". We're a couple months later and this is how I still feel. I'm calm compared to what I was. In my personal opinion there should be cameras in every single room of that establishment functioning and working at all times. read more

Today was the first time I brought my pet here (Norwood location) and I will not come back. The girls at the front are very rude. Another client was in front of me complaining about how she was waiting over two hours for her three pets to be seen, and she had an appointment. I chimed in stating they should call their appointments and let them know they would be late. The girl she was talking to behind the desk (was not wearing a name tag but a plain t-shirt with cats on it) stated they aren't going to call all their appointments they have (it was said with an attitude). For one, it was a suggestion to better the clients since you can't give them an estimate of how long their wait time will be and you don't tell them when they came in that they are behind. Communication is key. I know I would have appreciated a call letting me know they were late so I could have came later or rescheduled. The second time she was rude was when I asked for something to collect urine, she asked why I needed it, I told her my pet is there for a possible UTI so you'll need a urine sample and my dog has to pee. She got up from the desk and slammed the door behind her. She stayed behind the door for a couple minutes since I am sure she didn't want to deal with me or the other client since someone else came up with the urine tray. If you can't handle the job as a customer service representative, maybe you are in the wrong field. The staff should be more caring and compassionate towards clients. Especially since it is a low-cost clinic and people come here to care for their pets since it is more affordable. If you don't mind the staff being rude and long wait times with an unknown time frame, this is the place for you. Otherwise, if you can afford a little extra, go somewhere else! read more

I have been to FCNMHP several times for my pet's needs. The clinic is walk-in and doesn't take appointments, so be prepared to wait. They start at 10 a.m., but I usually get there earlier to get my name on the list. You have to make an appointment to spay/neuter, so call ahead. The prices are listed on the website and are very inexpensive. They will also spay/neuter feral or stray cats that are in your neighborhood for only $15. This has kept pet overpopulation way down in Jacksonville. read more

I have my pets here but will be finding a new vet as when you try and get someone on the phone you can never get them all I get is they are experience a high call vellum and you have to leave your name and number. I very much like this veterinary hospital as far as their services are concerned. They offer excellent service at a more than reasonable price. HOWEVER, their computers are still inexplicably running Windows XP. DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD HERE. Every time I've done that, I've been hit with fraudulent charges shortly thereafter. Windows XP hasn't received any security updates in years, and is no longer supported by Microsoft. Processing credit cards on an internet-connected computer running XP is like posting the card numbers to a public forum. read more

Rick-I didn't think it's possible but worse experience then last yr. I didn't even call you prior. I had an appointment. I waited in line 15 min to get checked in. I waited an hour & 1/2 for my appointment. I didn't care for the Dr who spent 6 of the 7 min w/me lecturing me on fixing my pet,who was busy choking for 3 min due to the spray in her nose, she's nvr done that before.i then waited 30 min in line to pay my $230. 12:15 appt & I got back in my car at 2:35 The reps r slow, they don't use their time wisely, they don't say sorry. They try to shame me for my impatience after an hour that there are walk in who waited 2 hours. Why make an app? Much less I have to hold my dog 2 hours as too many huge dogs. read more

Every person I have ever interacted with at FCNMHP has been wonderful! They are all so helpful, knowledgeable, and caring. From the front office staff to the call center to the vet techs to the vets, I have not had a bad experience dealing with anyone associated with this organization. My family took in a stray cat who was pregnant and then had a second litter before we could get her fixed, so I've spent quite a bit of time at their office getting all eight of these animals taken care of. We've never had any complications from the surgeries and all the staff seems happy to answer all our questions and also listen when we tell them about our pets. Their excellent service makes me feel comfortable trusting my pets with them because I know they will take good care of them because they all clearly love animals just like we do. I'm posting this review across every site I can because everyone needs to know how great this place is, especially since lousy service has become so common, but FCNMHP serves as a shining example of what customer service should be. read more

Most of the vets at the Cassat Avenue location are very friendly and super helpful. But there are a few that want to spend way to much time lecturing patients on spaying their pets. I completely understand the importance of spaying and neutering your pets to prevent unwanted litters but when pets are in for emergency surgery the last thing owners want is to be lectured. And then to have a vet tell you point blank that when your dog is having surgery to stitch up wounds that they WILL fix hem at the same time!! That is not the proper way to speak to customers and the vets need to realize that not all pets will be fixed just ask if the customer wishes to have the pet fixed if not advise them of the unaltered pet fee and move on with the appointment. read more

My 14 yr old Jack Russell Terrier (Bob) was having severe panic attacks while panting heavily as well as a dry cough. I ran thru his symptoms with Dr. Kampalli and he nailed it immediately. Horrible place. Avoid at all costs. We had a bad experience the first time (a misdiagnosis and 'bandaid' situation for our Beagle's tumor, which management later apologized for) and that should've been our last time. This clinic is a true case of you get what you pay for. There is a great need for a low income pet clinic in Jacksonville. Unfortunately that leads to long wait times and never being able to reach someone by phone. I have made inquiries here before and have never actually experienced an employee picking up the phone. You have to leave a message and wait a couple of days for a call back. The worst part though is the filth. I have only been to the Norwood location. Some time back I volunteered there so I was behind the scenes. I was horrified. I could not return. All I can think of is wondering how many animals get infections from laying in waste soaked sheets after being cut open for spay/neuters or other procedures. Low income people deserve the love of a pet too. They shouldn't have to settle for a filthy clinic with poor customer "service" and hours long waits. read more

Where do I start. My cat started acting lethargic on Monday last week I brought him on Tuesday evening I was told by the doctor he seemed fine and to monitor him and call with any changes. By Thursday he had gotten worse was barely walking, not eating or drinking. Thursday they told me to bring them in first thing Friday morning and they would have an appointment for him however I would need to drop off between 7-8 am due to the fact that he had to be sedated 4 bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. When I got there I asked the nurse how long before he will undergo sedation I wanted to know because I did not want to stress him out anymore than he had to be. Plus I was using a temporary cardboard travel carrier. I was told by his nurse it shouldn't be that much longer he has an appointment He's not being treated as I walk in. I was told he would be there for a little while due to the situation because they have to monitor him , I called around 12:30 to check in on him to see how he was doing and was told it will not be that much longer before he goes back the doctor comes in every day at noon. I was told I would get a call when he was ready I never got the call, I called back around 4:00 pm the doctor told me has blood work showed his white blood cell count was elevated, he was anemic, and had inflammation however he could not give me the source of this. I came in to pick up my cat they brought him to me and told me I should probably hold the carrier from the bottom I thought this was a little strange as soon as I picked it up from the bottom I realize why and it was due to the bottom being soaking wet and the bottom about to give out I asked them why was it wet the girl said she thought maybe he peed I asked how long he had been sitting like that she said she didn't know I pulled him out of the carrier I noticed that the top part of his blanket was dry and the bottom part was soaking wet telling me he did not pee in his box and that they either sat him in something wet or someone's pet next to him had an accident and it traveled over to his. The girl asked if she should get a new box I said please I'm not going to put him back in a wet box when they can't even tell me how or what it could be wet from. I was in tears knowing 1- my cat sat in a small travel carrier for five hours before being seen and at some point was put back in and sat for God knows how many more hours in possibly someone else's urine or God knows what else. 2-i was lied to when asked how much longer from the time of drop off would it be before the doctor sees him, if the doctor comes in everyday at noon tell me that, don't lie to me and say not long you have an appointment. 3-my cats white blood cells are elevated he has inflammation and an infection and you have no idea why his carrier is so wet I have to hold it from the bottom because it's about to give out. Last but not least, I have called the director, the doctor, and office management for three days with no call backs addressing my concerns. They do a wonderful thing for the community with their spade and neuter program however, that's where it should stop. They should not be treating sick pets at all. They obviously are unable to organize and properly manage the rest. They are negligent when it comes to the rest read more
