This Cardiff theatre company was founded in 1942. Orignially beginning life as the Unity Theatre Group, focusing on mainly political theatre, Everyman later broke away to performing more experimental live theatre. In the 1970s Everyman was instrumental in the opening of Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff where they are now based and put on the majority of their productions.
Everyman holds a FREE regular Club Night on Wednesday evenings at Chapter Arts Centre with a mixed programme. The title Club Night was commonly used in the fifties and sixties by organisations in order to exploit a loophole in the law that allowed night clubs and theatre companies to put on shows that were deemed not fit for public or theatre audiences as instructed by the Lord Chamberlain's department. The performances had to be put on for free and only for the benefit of friends and members of the company.
Club nights are free for anybody to attend and you don't have to be a member. They are held every Wednesday at 8:00 pm at Chapter Arts Centre, Market Rd., Canton, Cardiff, from September to May unless otherwise stated. read more
