It was easy enough to get a decent price on home insurance here but what happened over the next 5 years was completely unacceptable. My Safeco home insurance rose from $850 to $1759 even though my coverage levels stayed the same and I didn't file any claims. I got a quote from Progressive since I have car insurance with them and they were able to offer 1.5x higher coverage and the same deductibles for $875. That makes it pretty clear that Safeco/Alliances yearly price increases were just to line their pockets. Now for the next major problem. On Friday Dec 30th I called multiple times and sent one email to try to give them a chance to beat the new quote. I got no response other than their voicemail box. Maybe they are taking an extended vacation for New Years but if so that should have been mentioned on their voicemail or in an automated email response. I also tried speaking to the Safeco customer support number but they refused to help at all and said I could only speak to Alliance since they sold the plan. Stick with a direct to consumer insurer that actually staffs their phones on business days. read more

I was calling for a simple auto insurance quote. The lady who answered me was really nice and referred me to another person who later called me back. The woman was nice at first, but became very dismissive and said I should go to other companies before even comparing prices with me. She was very rude. read more

Apparently this company services loans from a bunch of companies, so they don't really know much about the specifics of each company's policies. They provided me with an agent to service an existing loan who couldn't answer my questions. Turns out, he is a new policy specialist who knows nothing about existing policies. Why did they provide him as my agent then?? Because they don't care about existing customers...new policies are the money maker. They just hope you will never review your policy or have questions. Then, when they can't answer questions or they can't explain their own business, they say it requires "research" to answer. My policy, under Nationwide, like the previous reviewer just continues to increase annually with no additional coverage. They have no interest in managing or correcting the existing policy, just want to sell me a new one. NO THANKS! I found my own policy with more coverage and price dropped from $1156 to $355 per year! I have never had a claim and have been ripped off! Do not get insurance through this third party insurer because they cannot help if you have questions. Also, they will scold you when you get frustrated by the lack service you receive. In 12 years the agent never reached out to discuss the policy, because the just increase the cost and hope you won't question it. My auto insurance reaches out annually for a review!! Go directly to the insurer, but avoid Nationwide because they are NOT on your side. read more
