I thought I'd give this place a try (was Club Metro at the time). My expectations were not super high, because I thought, here's a budget end gym. Well, have I been surprised and pleased over the years! It's not fancy, but they do everything pretty well. I have a trainer who is the best trainer I've ever had, by leaps and bounds. (Gabe). The staff and management are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. It's about as clean as could be. Equipment is good, well-maintained, and there's plenty of things to do, so it never feels too crowded. If you're in the market for a gym in Newport, I would recommend Fitness Factory over the poorly managed Newport Swim & Fitness (unless you need a pool).

Therefore, when he extended the invitation for the grand opening I wanted to come to support him and his business and business partner immediately. What you're getting from them and this academy is far more than a way to defend yourself. You're getting the ability to learn about yourself while losing weight, getting in top shape, and of course learning a skill that will keep you confident when walking down a dark alley. Not sure why you would do that, but just in case I wanted to paint the picture (haha). Now let's get back to the school and what you'll get. First, amazing staff. They are welcoming, loving, encouraging and motivating. Though I am not a full time student, I will make the one hour commute to train here at least once a month. Why don't I sign up you might ask? Well, I live in the city and train at the affiliate school there. HOWEVER, if I move to NJ, this will be my home - no questions. Back to why you might want to join this dojo/school/academy. It's great for children and adults of any age and every level. So check them out! If you have questions feel free ask them or DM me. I hope you enjoy your visit if you go. Thank you Professor Lincoln, Professor Brian and Master Igor for having us today. Oss!

They've always been able to attract talented instructors Even if their time there was fleeting. HowEver, MANAGEMENT leaves a lot to be desired like... integrity. The owner claims he sent out an email but made no attempts outside of this "alleged" blanket email to contact members and inform them that his gym reopened and he would start charging members. While this practice may make sense during normal times, amidst a pandemic, with people loosing their jobs and lives it's nothing shirt of egregious. It shows a lack of empathy and integrity. It's shows that management cares more about the bottom line then they do about their members.

Conceptually, it's much more than a barre studio and actually couldn't believe everything that was included with a day pass: 1. Comfortable, sumptuous space in a few rooms for those in search of a quiet work environment or just want a little socialization on those remote work days. The decor is vintage chic and the sofas/chairs are very comfy, complete with afghans to snuggle in. 2. Zoom booth - soundproof booth for those needing complete privacy during their zoom, podcast, etc. sessions 3. Sparkling water, still water, a couple wines on tap! And ice of course. 4. Barre studio with amazing instructors 5. Salon area where you can schedule blow outs after workout (extra) 6. Inclusive childcare with onsite nannies so you can work out without worry 7. Sauna to unwind and detox 8. Relaxation and recovery lounge where you can try out the full length compression boots. 9. You can get spray tanning if you book in advance (extra) 10. Lockers and shower facilities. For February, they are offering 50% off a day pass. I think this is a no-brainer for women wanting a quiet, safe, inspirational space to work or socialize, especially with the free onsite childcare. I am definitely coming back.

Well, that's how I felt during my first class at HRA. My favorite thing about this gym is the community and diversity of its members. After moving back to the area on March 1, 2020 and having the whole world shut down soon after, I was at a loss for community. However, a few months later I was fortunate enough to get connected into HRA because they were on top of their game with Hoboken to get things going in a safe way. They have 3 main types of classes offered: WOD's (CrossFit workouts), RPM (strength and conditioning), and yoga. All of the coaches all have their own flavor and approach and teach with heart, passion, but most of all expertise. This is the first gym I have been to that I do not feel that I have to avoid "that" coach. If you are searching for a gym that is doing things the RIGHT way, and I am not just talking about working out safely during a pandemic, I am also talking about focus on form, positivity, and taking care of one another, this is your gym. From events such as Hero WOD's at a Jersey Farm to raise money for 31 Hero's, to decorating the gym for the holidays, this truly is a special place. If you choose to drop in and try a class, come over and say hi if you see me. That's just what we do!

You can access this studio via ClassPass, and per Cait, they're actually looking to open up 1-2 more locations (for uptown locale!). I believe you can buy direct class packages as well. Not sure if they're on MINDBODY too. Things to be aware of: 1)it's a small studio, and there might be private therapeutic sessions on the two larger/more complex reformers in the back right. 2) They don't have a lot of extra space for (your) stuff, just small cubbies in the studio-one for each member (don't bring too much stuff, and try and make sure you have a smaller bag--shoes and umbrellas go outside the entrance/door) 3) they do TRX classes as well (looking forward to trying one of those)! 4) Cait hosts a running club in Hoboken (see Athleta's insta or DM her for timing-it's usually on the Bum Pilates insta stories) 5) walk, lyft or lime-parking is REALLY challenging since it's right by the path Definitely worth a try if you've done Pilates (and even if you haven't).

The coaches: every coach I've worked with has been great at coaching technique and over time you really do see a major improvement in footwork, power, etc. With the focus on technique, I've learned a lot more about the sport, which I've really appreciated. On top of all that, they're all so friendly and make the tough classes a blast. Huge shoutout to Josh! The classes: this isn't like the larger boxing chains in the city with 30+ people in each class hitting bags. Class sizes here max out at 6 people so you really get a lot of personalized attention during class to throw combos and work on your focus areas with the coach. The classes are typically mostly mittwork, as opposed to the other gyms I've been to that have been solely on the bag. What always really impresses me is their ability to adapt the session to the people in the class. Even in classes where there's been a wider range in experience levels, the coaches are fantastic at making sure everyone gets a workout in that is catered to their skill level. All in all, while classes are a bit on the pricier side, it is worth it. Would definitely recommend Bredwinners!
