We were referred to this firm, and had them complete a living trust for us. We definitely paid a premium price. After my wife's passing I called to make some small edits to the trust paperwork since she was gone. I was quoted $3800(!) to make small edits. I understand there being a cost involved, but that is ridiculous. Avoid this firm at all costs. read more

I became my brothers Power of Attorney. I contacted Evergreen Elder Law to notify them that his wife was no longer his Power of Attorney. I sent them the documents Revoking his wife and the new Power of Attorney at the same time I requested a copy of the file for his application for Medicade in 2023. The documents I received included copies his wife's Social Security card, pay stubs, medical cards,bank statements, income taxes, purchase of a $50,000 car, Documents should how they helped is wife cash out all of the inheritance my brother should have received., but knew nothing about. He signed four legal documents while he was at St Joe's Rehabilitation. The fifth document was a Quit Clame taking his name off the house.The documents were 217 pages. I was told before Evergreen Elder Law could release the file they would have to remove any personal information about his wife. I was also told that the attorney would have to approve the release of the documents. Not sure what is her personal information. Thru the second application process I had to pull out different pages so the information became a complete mess. I requested an second copy of the paperwork so that I would have everything together. I purchased the documents a second time and asked them to be mailed to my address that they had on file. After eight working days I contacted Evergreen Law to say I had not received the documents in the mail. I was told that there must be something wrong with my address. I was also told that it would be against the law for them to release any personal information about his wife. So now they have sent documents of the first and second application for Medicaid in the regular mail. It will take three more weeks for the documents the be available and ready to mail. But now I will be charged for the documents be certified. Maybe they should have done that the first time. read more

Overall we were mislead. In the introduction we were told the direction that could be taken; when speaking to the lawyer we found that what we were told could not be done. The firm was unorganized and communication was poor. When we finally met with the lawyer she was unorganized and unhelpful. She continually interrupted us and was argumentative. We were told it would be a video call and it was not, and she was put out by the fact that we wanted one, and despite having an office near us we were told it was a satellite office and they did not do meetings there. I certainly wish I had read reviews before I walked in the door and learned of their unethical, greedy, unprofessional, stonewalling practices first hand. Negative stars if possible! Quote was recieved for a will and signed up for services. After the first meeting, THEY DOUBLED THE PRICE! They said they (suddenly) were "not comfortable" with exactly what had been dicsussed. Since service was "withdrawn" due to the OUTRAGEOUS overcharge after-the-fee-agreement-was-signed the fee agreement requires clients (suckers) to pay over double the fee or lose half the original estimated fee. Pay an additional $3k+ or lose $1.5k. Attorney said she would close the file and return my documents. Charges included $50 to call asking about a refund and returning my documents A MONTH later. Then charged another $50 to confirm my original documents were available to pick up... BAIT AND SWITCH FROM A LAW OFFICE???? Not recommending this office. The bar association will be contacted about this issue to ensure appropriate action is taken. read more

they took 21k from me in three weeks. Most of the cost was for photo copying paperwork I already had for them. they promised to help me with probate and after they took my money said they wouldn't be able to help me if it went to mediation or probate. The reason I went to this law firm was because they told me they would be with me all the way through mediation and. court if necessary. intimidating lawyer she didn't make me feel comfortable and rushed me in only two meetings. Went to this firm for Special Needs Trust, medicaid applications, Deed of Trust, and a couple other things. They insisted on a huge fee up front, which we paid. They did part of what we asked, then told us the attorney working on our stuff left the firm & we'd have to find another attorney. (Just days before a hearing was scheduled). We asked for refund of $ for the parts they didn't complete. They refused, even though the contract for services said they owed a refund. I SUED. I WON. Save yourself the headache & DON'T HIRE THIS FIRM. read more

This company stole $400 from me. I had initially paid $400 as a deposit for a will, no work was done on their part and I later found that I didn't need their services. After a month of contacting them about returning my refund, they sent me a letter saying that they will not be returning any money to me. read more

This review is my own recollection of events and my personal opinion of the experience I had with this firm. They charged my mother $12k for a will. We had to fill out a bunch of paperwork, they put it into a document template, printed and put it in a fancy binder. I got all of 30-45 of time with an actual lawyer (2 or 3 brief calls). The rest was phone calls with admins and paralegals. The agreement was also to help my mom get on Medicaid when the time came. She passed away before that was necessary. But when I asked them about getting a Small Estate Affidavit, they told me that would cost more money. Not a good value in my opinion. Could have done most of this for $100 on LegalShield. read more

My wife has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I needed advice about the financial and legal implications of treatment for her. The Alzheimer's Association recommended Evergreen Elder Law so I believed that they could provide me with that information. Instead, they provided me with misinformation. I immediately terminated my relation with them and am awaiting a full refund of my payment. I have contacted the Alzheimer's Association to express my dissatisfaction with the firm. read more

Stay away from this law firm! They take advantage of you and the services they provide are very disappointing. Holland was very rude and seemed to have little knowledge of our case. The one meeting I had in person, I left crying. I should have canceled services then. They only see dollar signs and don't care what the outcome is. Please do not use them. You can find better service elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. We paid $12,300 and what they promised to do was never completed. Sadly, this is exactly why attorneys are so disliked because of dishonest, dishonorable people like Holland McBurns. read more

Buyer Beware... I couldn't agree more with Lindsey's comment. This is a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL Company that is nothing but money hungry. Getting a trust updated for WA, I was told I needed to have a whole new trust they can not make "amendments". WRONG at my 1st review I was told they made "adjustments" to my previous trust, but charged for a full trust. When I asked questions I got a run around and was never given an opportunity to read what they wrote. When I questioned something by email, I was given an answer that was so different than I stated in my original questionnaire. When I questioned this, Holland McBurns (the owner) called me...things went downhill very fast from there. This is a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL Company that I suggest to stay far far away. This law office was very disappointing. We needed a zealous advocate and we got very poor performance. The paralegal handled our case for the most part and when the attorney was involved she seemed to have very little knowledge of our case and did not seem to have any ideas about how to get results and gave very bad advice about handling the real estate part of the probate. We did most of the work ourselves on researching legal issues and writing letters and they sat back and collected huge fees. I would not recommend them if you have any probate issues that require active advocacy. read more

We thought we may be needing legal assistance with an issue concerning Medicaid eligibility.We made an appointment with Evergreen Elder Law for a free consultation in downtown Spokane.We left a very minor amount of paperwork with them for safe keeping, a $5,000.00 retainer fee to retain their services, should we need them, and signed the retainer contract. As it turns out, we fortunately were able to resolve our legal issue on our own, therefore we did not need the services of Evergreen Elder Law. We then requested our retainer fee back, and were sent a refund check in the amount of $3,707.50 along with an invoice. They charged us 4 hours time ($1,292.50) to review, copy and organize our paperwork that we left there for safekeeping. There was never any discussion of them making copies. Our bad for not taking the attorney's contract home to understand the contents thoroughly before signing.
