However, it has become clear that morale is low due to no confidence that the administration will make good long term decisions. I have nothing but good things to say about the teachers. The negative is the district itself and the principal which will be her 3rd year there. She has a lack of respect for parents and once slammed a door in a 2nd grader's face (which I have witnessed). Rumors are paid staff are being warned to not work here and not sure why. She is telling parents it is their problem and if the students don't trust her to go to a different school instead of working on the problem. The superintendent and administration trust her but won't take the time to call these parents with issues with the same principal as this is not how they do things. If you have time during the day, I would still say send your kids there if they go to school and are basically good kids that can handle themselves and stays out of trouble. That way, you don't have to even deal with the principal. if you only talk to the teachers, your experience here will be fantastic. I would also scan the playground as it can be unsafe and strangers passing through during recess and the school day. There are not enough paid volunteers and unpaid on the playground and during indoor recess. We are told we are welcome to come during lunch/recess and please do so. The more adults on the playground, the more safe our children are. I wasn't sure what star to use. The district and principal deserve a one star but the teachers here deserve a ten star if there was one.

When our three children approached school age we researched various types of schools: public,…read moreprivate, and montessori, but when we visited Oakland Christian, we just knew this was the school for our family. They were hands down everything we wanted for our children. OCS has a wonderful parent/teacher and parent/administration relationship. We are so pleased with the concern and care that is taken with each child and their gifts, abilities and needs. We love the family involvement that is created, without pressure, but by far beneficial. There is a concern to not just build great students, but great families as well. There is nothing more reassuing than knowing that our kids are being loved on and taught by ones who truly love our Savior and who desire our kids to know and love Him as well. OCS has an amazingly gifted staff which provides opportunities for the students that go beyond just every day learning. Education is more than just academics, OCS, by God's great provision is producing, wonderful students on academic, spiritual, athletic, musical and technological levels. We consider it a privilege to be a part!

Lake Orion schools are a joke! About a month ago a TEACHER from a lake Orion school put their hands…read moreon my child. I reported her to the principal of that school, that person did absolutely nothing and tried to justify why a teacher would put their hands on a child. Sense that didn't get me any where I reported it to the superintendents office, I was on the phone with them for over an hour expressing how upset I was over the issues and fully expected something to be done about these issues. fast forward 2 weeks i get a call from a counselor from the school who PRETENDED to care and pretended to act like she was going to implement a communication thread between my child's teacher her and my self. Which shocker didn't happen, I received 2 emails from his teacher one on April 2nd and the other April 3rd which BOTH said he was doing better and doing well in class. After that not a word from anyone, not his teacher, not the counselor or the principal, The communication from this school is horrid! Not only did all that happened the Same teacher FALSIFIED a CPS report saying she witnessed me HIT my child, let me get 2 things clear i do NOT use physical punishments not only so NOT slap my child I DONT EVEN SPANK MY CHILD, THIS is RETALIATION to me reporting their school!!!!!!!!!! which I showed proof of to the case worker i spoke with!!!! with that being said if you can please avoid sending your children to this school.
