Who doesn't love a bunch of silly adults playing kickball once a week, on Thursdays at either 7 or 8, while drinking beer, occasionally dressing up for theme nights, and kicking big red balls. If you feel like hanging out after the games most people meet up at Neighbors in Sylvan park to continue the festivities. If you like to have fun I recommend going to the WAKA website and signing up for next season. You can either get a group together or if you sign up solo you will be assigned to a team. Don't worry about not knowing anyone, everyone I have met has been awesome!

This is a perfect organization to join if are new to town or just looking to network. The games were on Thursday nights. They started at 7 p.m. with another round starting up at 8 p.m. Sometimes there were double headers, which, I almost liked even more because it was like getting in extra practice time! I would say bring a big can of bug spray because I did get eaten alive during the games. The theme nights were so much fun! This year we kicked it off with superhero night, followed by PROM, Pirate and a Nautical themed night. You do get a pretty cool WAKA tee shirt for joining the leauge. After the games, a big lot of us head over to Neighbors to get some beers. Which is an added bonus because if your team dressed up the best on the theme nights, you could win pitchers of beer. I also like the mid season and end of season parties on the agenda too. All in all, 99.65% of the people are a bunch of big ole goofballs that like to have fun. Yeah, there are some people that are a little TOO hardcore about kickball and there are some people who don't show up (you have to have a min. about of players on the field to play) which can damper the party, but all in all the good sucker punches the bad in the face with awesome. Thanks YELP for letting me play for Free this year, I will more than likely be a full fledged paying member after all the fun I had so far!

Thankfully one of my clients recommended CABLE to me and I attended a couple of the local coffee meetings and quickly decided to join for myself. It has been the very best decision I have made for myself since moving here. I LOVE CABLE. The woman that are involved in this organization are absolutely wonderful, educated, supportive, helpful, warm, friendly, and represent the best of the best in services, and companies that are actively doing business in TN. Many companies pay for their employees to belong to this.....I actually just paid my own membership and totally recommend to anybody to just do it for yourself and don't worry about what you will gain...it is worth it ----you pretty much can get as involved in this as you would like to be joining different committees, making friends and participating in events they have going on. etc. etc. There is a monthly luncheon that is optional and you will be given a wonderful opportunity to hear some motivational and inspirational speakers while meeting new ladies all the time and given a chance to speak up and share your own story ...so if you want to network for business or social purposes this is a fabulous place to do that...You can always come as my guest or contact me if you have specific questions always happy to share something that has really helped me personally... ACTUALLY---I am a yelper due to a fellow CABLE member sharing what YELP is and why I would love it....

These people usually work through neighborhood organizations or special interest groups. The folks at Neighbor2Neighbor (formerly NRC) help those organizations figure out what they're doing and how to survive. Having been elected the president of my neighborhood association recently, and wanting to do the job right and not just half ass it, I started on one of their programs. Basically a neighborhood organization boot camp. They also provide services to neighborhood groups wishing to maintain their tax exempt status without having to have someone in the group intimately familiar with how to run and file for a 503c1 (or whatever the number currently is.) They've helped me a lot with being handed the reigns of an atrophied neighborhood association at least knowing where to steer it and how *not* to look at the thing.
