I have never used a travel agent before, but since the trip to Cuba is a bit trickier (having to meet all the "Support for the Cuban people" requirements), I wanted some help figuring it all out. I found Event Premiere (and Veronique) via a Trip Advisor post, and I was a bit hesitant after I started Venmo-ing money to her for pre-arranged excursions, but there was no need to worry! Everything was exactly as promised. We did two walking tours, a salsa class, a show at Guajirito, and a trip to Vinales. Everything was great. You can pick and choose as little or as much as you want to do. We arranged the casa with Veronique, too, but in the future I honestly think I might just go with Airbnb. On the plus side, Veronique and her team personally know the people you stay with, and her person on the ground goes to check the casa the week before your stay to make sure everything is in order. So that's a huge bonus. But on the other hand, I wasn't really given options. She sent me one casa with photos, and it was OK but not great, and I asked if there were other options, and she said she could go ask other people but it's involved (they actually call around to see who they know has availability). So I just stuck with the one option she gave me, but I wasn't that excited about it. On airbnb, there are a lot of options (and cheaper), and I would have preferred to have the options and maybe stay inside Havana Vieja instead of right outside it. That being said, you can get scammed on airbnb, and with Veronique you know what you're getting. But if you go to Vinales (which I suggest you do), I would 100% recommend the house in Vinales that Veronique arranged. Mary (who owns the house) was just wonderful, and her house is beautiful (with breakfast on her roof with a gorgeous view of the valley). In fact, I wish I spent more time in Vinales than I did in Havana. Also, Veronique arranged a driver for us (in a cool old car), but we actually just took the bus back from Vinales to Havana, which worked out fine (though the bus depot is on the outskirts of town and you have to get a taxi back to the downtown). Anyway, I recommend Veronique and Event Premiere -- they can open up a lot of possibilities I wouldn't have been able to find otherwise, and for your first time in Cuba, it was really helpful to have someone to coordinate everything. read more
