My daughters had expressed interest in learning how to play the guitar and piano; I knew I wanted them to take lessons and contacted Evan.

He worked seamlessly with our wedding planner, Victoria with thatBliss, and I had zero hesitations going into the big day. I knew we were in good hands. Jonathan was extremely professional while MCing our wedding. He made all the appropriate announcements and kept the celebration flowing smoothly all night. With his clear, strong voice, relatable personality, and attention to detail, you cannot go wrong with Jonathan as the host of your big day! Jonathan is also an extremely talented artist. He performed live during cocktail hour and during dinner, and I had so many guests commenting on how much they enjoyed the live music. It was such a fun and unique addition. It really elevated the experience for everyone. Once the dancing kicked off, Jonathan absolutely nailed it. He seamlessly wove his go to dance tracks with our specially requested songs and made the dance floor the place to be. Our dance floor was open for about four hours including the after party, and Jonathan made sure to keep the energy high! We all had the best night and three months later, our friends and family are still talking about how much fun they had. I owe a big part of this to Jonathan. We cannot thank you enough!!

I am so impressed with his talent, professionalism, and even down to the little details of being kind to my kids as everyone was breaking down for the night. Versatility and talent beyond compare…read more After reading all the glowing reviews of Michael Tiernan's musicianship my wife and I felt honored to be able to make a date with him to provide the music for a party at The Thursday Club in Point Loma. The party was partially a 50th anniversary but mostly a celebration of great friendships of many years. He did an incredible job of playing songs that were the perfect complement to the changing dynamics of the entire evening. Michael is a charming individual and when the mood was right he played songs that engaged the crowd, captured their attention and drew applause. He's a master at reading the room. Toward the end of the evening a contingent got up and started dancing between the tables. Michael was totally in his element. He can create all the high energy party vibe you could want. He has spontaneous looping techniques that make his renditions of songs as full bodied as a band. As part of the planning process we received a list of songs that are in his repertoire. You would not believe the length of the list and the variety of situations and moods he can bring to life. This next part is slightly humorous, but testifies to what a great guy Michael is. Since the majority of the crowd was going to be septuagenarians like ourselves, we were concerned that if the music was too "prominent" the guests might have difficulty hearing each other and conversing. It was with a little trepidation that we brought up this concern with Michael. You don't sign up an artist with all his gifts and then ask him to play quietly. His response was immediate and completely understanding. He totally got it. He assured us he could keep it as mellow as we wanted. And he did it perfectly with no cues from us, especially during the crucial cocktail-hour part of the event which was an important time for people to mingle and visit. He reads the room. If you are planning a special event you hope to bring all the elements together to make it a great experience for all the guests. It's like an art project. Music is an essential part of the experience. Look no further for an amazingly gifted musician who can work with you to craft the occasion to your desires to make it a meaningful and joyful celebration.

She is simply the best! I feel incredibly lucky to have met Patricia and begun my singing journey with her. I've been a student at Studio Shanks since 2018, when I was fresh out of college and looking for a voice teacher who could earnestly teach me how to sing. At the time, there were flashy online ads for folks that could "make you a superstar" and all of it felt so loud and nothing seemed to fit. At one point Patricia returned my call. Immediately I knew that she was the right teacher for me. It was obvious that she is not just naturally fun and easygoing, but also a true technician when it comes to the craft of singing. It's been a few years since we began working together. I've discovered that singing is something that can be learned at any age. It requires hard work, but it can be done. Luckily, Patricia is entirely dedicated to the growth and success of her students. Knowing this makes it much easier to bring my own effort during and between classes. I am honestly amazed at how, despite having worked with many respected luminaries in the field, Patricia remains humble and always with a sense of humor that puts me at ease. She is everything that comprises a professional artist and educator. What I love most is that she cuts through the noise and focuses on pure foundations. That means that she is able to work with vocalists ranging from the most contemporary pop styles to opera to musical theatre and beyond. All kinds of singing require the same basic knowledge of healthy and safe vocal techniques. At Studio Shanks, everything counts and everything matters. Thank you so much, Patricia!

Thank you very much for communicating. I would love to take singing lessons with you.read more

This review is not only about Music Vault Academy but also in response to the review made by Milton…read moreRodas... @miltonrodas My daughter has been attending Music Vault Academy for almost 3 years. She is an actress and an artist. She has been working professionally in Hollywood since she was 8 years old, she will be 16 in July. She began her stage training at the age of 3, dance at age 4 and started vocal and music training by age 6. By the time she was 10, she began learning guitar. I say all this because the training she received up to the point of her starting to attend Music Vault Academy had been sub-par, except for her dance. When I found Music Vault Academy, we were at a crossroads with her music training. I was looking for a place that would push her, develop her technique and get her to a place where she could play guitar well and sing at the same time. She has always wanted to be a professional performer and it is safe to say that she has dedicated her entire life to this career. When my daughter started in Music Vault's Artist Development program, which consisted of, songwriting, vocal coaching, instrument lessons, and bringing a song to master and the ability to release, she started to grow as an artist. I cannot think of a better place to bring a student who wants to commit to a career like this. However, it is also a great place for those parents that want their kids to have fun doing music classes as a hobby. In the years since she started with the school, she is now at a professional level and has outgrown many of the teachers at the school. She works with established music industry creatives, developing her sound, style to brand herself and to stand out from the rest also trying to make it. She writes, records and creates all of her music at Music Vault Academy. It is her home where she feels comfortable to be herself, and grow into the artist she is becoming. In response to Milton Rodas review... I was there the night he is speaking about. They were a series of events that were to last 2 months over the summer. The events were designed to be an open mic night for artists to showcase themselves. They could sing covers or originals. The events started around 6:30, toward the end of regular classes and anyone could come and attend. While most of the artists were teens, there were not only teens performing. This was a well organized event with adults overseeing the whole production. Not only were the owners present, the parents of all of the teen performers were there as well. Bridget had all of the performers on a list and one of the teachers handled the music and made sure everything ran smoothly. YES, the lights were down because it was set up as an open mic night and the lights were focused on the "stage" area. There was food, drinks and socializing going on. As a parent being there myself, I saw nothing that could be considered "grooming" in any way. I am a mother of a daughter who is a public figure. I am hyper aware of her surroundings at all times. While I understand Milton's concern, because it was outside of the normal environment for his daughter's lesson day, to say the event was set up as a night club "grooming" the girls is a little over the top. Teenage girls are going to want the attention of the boys in general and visa versa, but nothing inappropriate was going on. Number 1, there were adults everywhere running the show. Number 2, there are cameras with audio located throughout the whole studio for the protection of the students AND the teachers. If you have any questions about Music Vault Academy, I suggest you go to the location and make your own decision about how you feel when you walk in.
