Long enough that years ago she came home and announced, with complete confidence, "There's a girl at my bank who looks JUST LIKE YOU." Now, if you knew my mom, you'd know her powers of observation are... aspirational at best. She could see a barber pole and tell you it looks like someone she knows. So I filed this information away with a healthy dose of skepticism. Fast forward to modern times, where I now help manage a lot of her banking and have been coming into Summit regularly for about five years. I've met the supposed "look-alike" several times. Spoiler alert: she does not look like me. She's younger, taller, brunette, and shares exactly zero identifiable features with me. (My mom still insists. Recently she even tried to justify it by saying, "Well, she's lost some weight." I stared at her in silence until she realized what she'd just said and started laughing. So... there's that.) All that aside--this place is exceptional. Because of how warm, friendly, and genuinely "down-home" Summit feels, I eventually opened my own account here too, even though it's no longer convenient to our current location. And I will never close it. They know my mom the moment she walks in. When she fumbles for her ID, they let it slide because they truly know her. They ask how she's doing, remember details about her life, and treat her with patience, kindness, and respect. When I was buying a house, they gathered around to look at pictures, oohing and aahhhing in all the right places like proud friends--not just tellers behind a counter. This is one of those rare places where you feel seen and remembered. You matter here. And as a bonus? My alleged "look-alike" is also an avid reader, so we often end up chatting about books while I'm there--which somehow feels exactly right for a place like this. Exceptional service. Exceptional people. Completely worth going out of your way for.

Customer service used to be excellent. Unfortunately, that no longer exists. It is extremely difficult to get someone on the phone and when you request a call back it NEVER happens. They have imposed ridiculous fees on accounts. BMFCU has become equivalent to a commercial bank! Sorry to say I am looking into another Credit Union and will eventually close my accounts.

Deposits and withdrawals are quick and easy. Never have had any problems. We joined the credit union in order to have a place to put our funds as we raised money to get our grandson a service dog. Management was very helpful on setting up the account so it complied with all regulations. Probably the only drawback is a lack of Saturday hours but since I am retired it doesn't inconvenience me. I cannot recommend this organization highly enough and encourage everyone to check them out.

The staff provided NO NOTIFICATION TO US, we in turn had already used the courtesy fee to pay for our two utility bills to avoid a shut off. Meanwhile the upper mgmt was very aware of my husband's severe work related injury, which has left him with impaired mobility & unable to drive or work again. They stopped the courtesy pay without any notification causing us accrue more fees as the payments bounced.

They have convenient weekday hours, a drive-up teller, a 24 hour ATM, and a drop box. In addition, the BFCU supports local causes, has a yearly driveway sale for venders and the public, and collects items for the homeless at certain times of the year. They also sell movie tickets at a discounted rate. There are opportunities to serve on the board and join in yearly parties and meetings. They are everything a local bank should be!

Michelle is the best employee and it makes my day to see her. I feel safe keeping my money with them, that they won't nickle and dime me, I have never had to argue with a service rep about an overdraft fee. They have even moved money from my savings to my checking when I was about to overdraft to cover my butt. I am writing this review because they just called me to tell me that they found someone attempting fraud on one of my accounts. That is how much attention they pay to protecting their customers. As long as i live in buffalo, i will bank with BSCU.
