    On my recent trip to Staples I brought a pencil sharpener to return that I had purchased online. I…read morewent to the front because there was no line at the time and I have been stuck in long ones before. The person working the register got my order id and then hands me a receipt. He was not trained to confirm the details about the amount of my return. Unfortunately I was only given back the value of 60 % the cost of the item online and 50% of the cost in store. The month before this I had placed an online order that never arrived so part of my purchase was using a credit, but not the kind of credit that requires a minimum purchase. So I asked if I could exchange the item instead and he called a manager who was not interested in even listening and she called some 800 number and handed the phone to me. If the employee had confirmed the amount of the return I would have been able to do an exchange, but his failure to do that cost me money. And the manager was unwilling to cancel the return so I left without my pencil sharpener and lost the credit that they gave me for failing to deliver my order. This is not a lot of money, but i expent cashiers to be competent and I expect managers to train them. The store manager was awful, did not care about the customer and took no responsibility for running the store.

I apologized for asking a question. Ten minutes later an employee took my photos. Then I asked for copies of documents to be printed. I was referred to self-service. After following all the steps - the codes sent to me by staples did not work. I approached full service and the employee was condescending and I decided to match her energy. She questioned me regarding the steps I took to complete my copy process. I told her. She spoke to me like I was five years old and asked each question again. She took my phone and said to wait for another code. I went back to the self service machine. The code never came. Another employee hovered offering to help. I let him know what was happening and he told me to go outside because the wifi would work better. This was after the machine had already taken my payment information- I was just supposed to go outside and wait patiently. Other customers came in and had the same trouble I had. It was clear when I spoke to other customers that my frustration was building. After being chastised and being treated like a five year old Esteban let me know I didn't need to give him attitude because he wasn't giving me attitude. I let him know how I felt about this horrible experience and left. No copies. I hate Solana Beach Staples. Worst service of all office retailers.

These are official certified (raised stamp and wet signature) documents. It was important for me to ensure the best reproduction quality for my permanent records.     I came in today 27 April 2026 to have some paper laminated. They wouldn't do it because they had…read moreturned off the machines prematurely. I asked them to turn it back and they said since it 20 minutes to heat back up they won't do it. It wasn't even close to 20 minutes until closing. Poor customer service as I felt written off so quickly and they began helping other customers before I was done speaking to them.
