Beyond happy with the yard work and landscaping we received from Kalman Contracting. Richard was…read moreable to complete our yard landscaping in a timely manner. This included ripping out all the old bushes, laying down new weed barrier, planting new bushes and laying mulch. Kalman Contracting has also taken care of our lawn, built a new raised garden bed, continues to care for the new landscaping, installed new gutters, fixed some internal minor repairs, and is continuing to exceed our expectations. I do not think there is a task this company will NOT take on or isn't qualified for. Prices have always been fair, and communication has always been open. Kalman Contracting is reliable and trustworthy. Prior to starting work Richard came over, provided and estimate and stuck to it! He did not try to upcharge or change rates when starting work.

I really appreciate that there is no 'upselling'. Gabe will give an honest assessment of what needs done quickly, what can wait, and what doesn't need addressed. It would have been easy for him to just agree to cut down(and charge for) whatever scary looking tree I asked about, but he explained how certain trees might fall but pose no risk to our home-which was our main concern. Definitely recommend and would use again.

The crew was extremely thoughtful and hard-working and the job turned out beautiful! They showed up to work as soon as able. The price was excellent. I highly recommend.

We moved across country and hired this contractor on the recommendation of our realtor. The…read moreservice was OK. Communication and accounting accuracy were horrible. Ethics were questionable. Specific examples: 1- The owner, Todd, failed to tell us that his quote for services did not include a $3-$4 per charge for gasoline. Our yard is less than 1/4 acre, easily handled by one fill up of the small tank on our own lawnmower. Was it really necessary to charge for a gallon of gas each time the lawn was mowed? And more importantly, not tell us in advance? 2- Todd raised the price of service twice, also without informing us in advance. 3- We mistakenly double-paid one month and did not receive credit for the extra $200 until pointing out the error. 4- We did not receive any bill for services for two months despite multiple requests to do so, both in writing and on the phone. 5- When we did finally receive the first bill, it included dates when the Binghamton area received significant rainfall, including one day when the area also got rain the day before and the day after. (I still get flash flooding alerts and warnings on my phone, and weather records are easily checked on the internet.) We gave him the benefit of the doubt, figuring he just listed service on every Monday as we had agreed, even if the lawn was actually mowed on other days of the week. All in all, we're betting that other contractors would provide equal service with better communication and more accurate price quotes.
