DO NOT RENT. ABSOLUTE THIEVES. If I could give them less than 1 star, I would!…read moreI rented a car with a damaged bumper. During my vacation, I incurred more damage on the same bumper. My damage was in two parts. The part of the bumper that already had damage and the plastic ring around the driver fog light. I turned it in and it was documented. Tech that checked me in looked at all the video and pictures I previously took, said someone would email me about the charges for the bumper. I never received the email and found out a month later that I was charged for the bumper. I called Budget (part of AVIS) and no one could help me stateside because I rented in Italy. They were able to provide me a receipt (which also was never emailed to me once my rental was complete) and the receipt was very vague, showed "misc. charges", no breakdown or description on what I was being additionally charged. I called the 800 number on the receipt that specifically sates "If you have any questions regarding this rental agreement, please call..." and they too could not help me and in fact was the worst customer service I ever received. I called Budget Venice Airpot as I was told I would have to do- several times and taking into account the time difference, fiesta hours and so on. NO ONE EVER ANSWERED AND NO VOICEMAIL OPTION. My complaint with the first 800 number was logged but I had to wait 15-30 days for someone from Budget Venice Airport to get back to me. That came and went and I called again and now had to wait another 15-30 days which also came and went. I filed a report with BBB and because Budget Venice Airport stated it was adequately charged, the complaint was closed. -I never received any kind of itemized breakdown of charges. -I was charged about 300.00 too much for the plastic ring around the fog light, so I must have been charged for the bumper too. -The bumper already had damage, which means they are collecting on that bumper time and time again, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. -My fight isn't done. I will be contacting local news affiliations that look for these kinds of stories and am considering Class Action Legalities, as I'm quite confident I am not the only one that has experienced this. STAY AWAY FROM BUDGET AND ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS SHOOT VIDEO AND/OR TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR RENTAL BEFORE YOU DRIVE OFF THE LOT- IT'S YOUR ONLY EVIDENCE!

Rented a car from Avis/Budget. I only gave this rental company a "1" because "0" was not an option…read more They owe me ~$3,000. I just returned from Italy and my experience could not have been worse than with this company. They are liars telling me that I had full coverage on the car and not to worry about the low price number on the invoice quote and that it was just an estimate. The man I worked with while getting the car was having trouble putting my requests into the computer and had written them on paper. He said he would add them as soon as the computers were back up. As luck has it, when I returned to Marco Polo's Budget location, they charged me for all scratches on the car. When I asked the manager to check the original papers, he just went back into the computer to show me the original sign off which I was told by the original guy that it was not right. This company is the worst! I also tried to communicate with them mid-trip and nobody on their phone line understands English. They would transfer me and cut me off each time. I then tried the US version of Budget and they were not helpful at all saying that they could not do anything when a car is rented internationally. Absolute horrible experience with liars taking as much money as they can from the consumer. I repeat, this was the absolute worst rental experience I have ever had! Stay far away from Budget and spend extra on a company that doesn't take advantage of you!

The ACTV is Venice's public transportation system. At the airport we were able to purchase our…read morepasses from their machines. We decided to get the daily passes (48€/2 day pass) because we thought we would be using them to travel around a lot. In retrospect this was a mistake and we would have saved money just getting the ticket into town and the ticket to the train station. This was the most I paid for public transportation in any of the European cities for the least amount of time I spent in the city. To add insult to injury, the Vaporetto, or the waterbus, were crowded and at times barely admitted any new passengers on at the stop. At our stop we waited for over an hour to get onto a waterbus. It delayed our plans and set back everything for our time in Venice. On the day we left, we saw some other people who were first in line be denied getting on the boat if they have luggage. The rules are so inconsistent with no rhyme or reason. If you find yourself depending on these vaporetto during your visit, make sure to leave ample time for cushion so you don't get stranded or miss a flight or the train. Honestly you might be better off walking. Because driving is not an option -- there are no cars on the Venice islands.

The pass can be used in land and on the island. Once we received the email we walked up to a Kiosk to figure out how to redeem it. The QR code that was included in the email did not work. We had to type in the confirmation code. Once the screen prompted the tickets. We selected and printed them out without issues. If you're on the island there's actual customer service kiosk you could go to and speak to someone. We were able to use the card to take the bus, and Vaporetto. We did not get a chance to use the Lido. Google Maps is super helpful, but I would strongly suggest looking at the screen, and map that is near each pickup location. We boarded one of the buses at 11:30pm, which ended up taking us 2 cities away from Venice, and was one stop away from calling it a night. They don't loop back to where they picked you up. Since the bus did not run again until 4:30am. We had to take an uber black back to Mestre. Expensive lesson learned. When you board a bus, or get ready to enter the vaporetto line. Scan the card without having your finger or hand over it. I made the mistake of doing that a few times and so it took a couple tries before it actually scanned. As for riding on the bus and/or vaporetto. It can get PACKED. Depending on the stop and time. If you're the first on the bus. You'll find a seat, but they have the AC off so it's HOT. Depending on time of the year of course. If you're one of the last to board. Expect to stand and hold on to something. It's definitely a cheaper way to get around, but if you're looking for comfort and space. Book a taxi, or water taxi to get around instead.
