Thanks to Rob H & Katie B for reporting the findings...from the…read moreoutside, this appears just to be a regular, run of the mill market...but once inside you'll be treated to a pleasant surprise. A huge organic selection. A whole shelf of tea. Racks of dried fruits (I am not addicted to dried figs), nuts (cashews!) and I even found jars of sunflower butter here...which is surprisingly good and a good alternative to peanut butter (which they also have). Fantastic ethnic cooking section chock full of sauces, ingredients, grains, rices, beans and any element you probably need, spices, decent bakery with breads, rolls, pitas, etc. Eggs and dairy, beer, wine, a lot of coconut water, and a fresh produce section (outside) which is standard, but nice to have. Things you won't find: fresh meats or fish. Par for the course! The family that runs it is very friendly as well (always so polite!) and I always leave feeling quite good about supporting a local food shop that is not only convenient, but tucked away from the madness of the Old Street roundabout. Yours Food Centre = My Food Centre = LOVE. *they do not accept AMEX.

You can find almost everything in there, from bubble gum to grains, dried fruits, fresh fruits (very good selection), alcohol... Almost everything except fresh fish and meat. It is not the cheapest place to do your shopping, but for the quality they offer, it is quite fair. And the people that works there is always helpful and polite.

World of Whiskies is located in Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport and offers a selection of whiskies from around the world. The bulk of the offerings are from the UK and Ireland, though I did see some Suntory whisky here too. Though being in the UK, I was in search of a nice bottle of scotch to bring back. The selection here seems to be similar what I would find at liquor stores in Seattle, though the prices seem better. For instance, you can get a bottle of Lagavulin 16 here for about half the price you would pay at Total Wine & More in Seattle. Not sure about sampling whisky here, though I did try a sample of the airport exclusive Johnnie Walker Island Green scotch that the store seemed to be promoting a lot. If you do decide to shop here, I would do a price comparison on the bottles you are interested in to see if they are worth the price and trouble of lugging across the pond. Also, I would only recommend picking up a bottle only if your next destination is your final stop. If you have to take a connecting flight, you are not going to be able to take it through security because of the liquid size limits.

I went in 2 different times: saturday at 3pm and wednesday at 10am. Two completely different vibes. I tried the famous sandwich from the black pig, viral chocolate covered strawberries and bread ahead. Black pig - the best one sandwich: it was AMAZING!!! I was a bit scared to get this since i was by myself but let me tell you, it was not heavy as i expected it to be. Just delicious overall and would totally recommend. Chocolate strawberries: I love strawberries and chocolate but definitely think you can find cheaper alternatives anywhere in london. Bread Ahead: my new favorite pastry place. I pretty much got a donut from this place (not this location) everyday because the black currant cheesecake donut was that good. I got the tiramisu and crème brûlée donut which my brother liked and i wish i could've tasted them before they went bad but anyways, I would totally recommend the donuts from here! Their chocolate chips cookies are HUGE and delicious as well. This was probably one of my favorite markets!

Well, I'm really "digging" the interior of this store - you actually feel like you're being transported back several hundred years; which actually is quite true, as this store has been around for a very very long time! Anyway, what I kind of disliked, was that the person who got my order ready, was quite a snob - very uptight British and made me feel as if I wasn't a worth customer. (Maybe he didn't approve of me coming into such a posh store with a hooded sweater?) Also, their website is really awful: I was trying to find out, where the store would be, but the website is impossible to maneuver through. It's all online selling, but there's no apparent link that will point you to where the actual store is! Well, thanks to Yelp I actually found it! So, three stars for this experience, but I might just come back another day again, as their selection of wines is incredible!

While the rooftop was booked out for a private party, we were able to walk in to the basement bar and enjoy a full vaulted, brick-lined side-room to ourselves. The basement ambience reminded us of Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street crossed with Gordon's Wine bar at Embankment. We ordered the: - Bananaquit (Mount Gay Eclipse, vegan egg nog mix, discarded banana rum, pimento dram) £10.50 - Rufous Hummingbird (Buffalo Trace bourbon, Nixta corn liquor, Banane du Brasil, cocoa blanc, sotol, chocolate bitters) £11 Both drinks on the bird-themed menu were excellent. The Bananaquit, a cloudy drink served in a Nick and Nora goblet glass, tasted strongly of ripe bananas and creamy eggnog. It had lots of nutmeg on the nose from the fresh gratings on top. For those with a nut allergy, you're safe: the vegan eggnog is nut-free. It was a sweeter drink (my partner asked for the sweetest drink on the menu). The Rufous, served on the rocks in an old fashioned glass, was clear and lightly brown in colour. It was served topped with two fresh pansies, and carried hints of chocolate cake and sunny garden, with a stronger alcohol essence. I had not come across sotol before and learned it's a Mexican spirit distilled from herbs, similar to mezcal, though I can't say I specifically tasted it. We enjoyed the ambience of our private cellar room and after our drinks we explored up to the roof (gorgeous space!) and around the bottle shop in the front room. There were quite a few tempting specialty bottles (Ancho Reyes Verde chile poblano liqueur, anyone?) and good gift ideas (Dr. Squid squid ink gin from Cornwall). In the end we didn't make a purchase, but staff were very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I would definitely come here again.
